23.01.2022 As 2020 continues to do it’s darndest to spoil the best laid plans and any semblance of normal life for so many, this afternoon it cannot stop us from reminiscing and staying positive by playing this beautiful CD. Who else owns one of these nostalgic treasures? Here’s a little excerpt from the back of the album which is impossible not to smile about: Margot Cory-Wall and Graeme Wall, met whilst teaching with the Education Department. They began singing together, performing f...olk songs with guitar, then musical shows, leading into opera productions with Victoria State Opera. In 1967 they were runners up in the national TV talent program Showcase, compered by Gordon Boyd. On this program, they appeared throughout the year of the competition singing duets from folk song to musicals. They married a year after their Showcase performances. . . . #morewherethatcamefrom #love #showcase #margotandgraeme #operascholars #operascholarsaustralia #opera #operasingers #folksong #soprano #tenor #melbourne #melbournemusicians See more

08.01.2022 OSA is very happy to have good news to share, we are pleased to welcome Jackson Harnwell to the OSA Board! Many of you may remember Jackson from when he was a scholar some years ago. We have not had an alumnus on the board before so we are thrilled at his appointment. Without further ado, here’s some more about Jackson: Jackson is an alumnus of Opera Scholars Australia, having joined the program as a tenor in 2010. He contributed to the rebranding of the program (initially c...alled ‘The Australian Scholars’). In 2012 he took up the position of Associate Conductor, a role he held until 2016. In this capacity, Jackson led the musical preparation of several signature events, including a gala concert at the Melbourne Recital Centre (2012), Carmen in the Gaol (2014) and the world premiere of Gordon Kerry’s Snow White and Other Grimm Tales (2015). Jackson remains deeply enthusiastic about the development of young artists and ensuring a well-supported pipeline of talent to continue to grow Australia’s vibrant arts and cultural sector. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and a Master of Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Melbourne. Additional to his work as an artist, Jackson is an experienced administrator in one of Australia’s leading universities. He brings experience in student support and enrichment, policy development and the cultivation of effective business partnerships in the public and private sectors. Jackson is Vice President of a national association for university administrators and is passionate about workforce empowerment and values-based management approaches. Jackson lives in Melbourne, Victoria with his partner and their cat, Theo. He enjoys cycling (but not in lycra!) and curling up on the couch with a good book if you have any recommendations, please get in touch! . . . #operascholarsaustralia #operascholarsaustraliaalumni #opera #operascholars #osa #jacksonharnwell #melbourne #melbournemusic #melbourneartist #musicperformance

02.01.2022 Dear Opera in the Alps and Opera in the Market community, We are announcing today that we will not be presenting Opera in the Market and Opera in the Alps for 2021.
