17.01.2022 Hey guys...days dont always go well hey! Yeah Ive had one of those flat days today!!! So heres my 5 steps to change my view of it (and you can do it too!)... Step 1. Be your own coach! Change the way youre talking to yourself... Encourage yourself to take small steps forward...just like youre talking to a little kid - be supportive of yourself Step 2. Look how far youve come rather than how long you have to go. Yeah we may be in lock down for a bit longer yet, but weve come so far...and we just need to choose to put this in our brain that we are closer to the end than the start! Step 3. What can you do now?! Focus on today and set up tomorrow! Get it DONE! Write a list of a few things you really want to get done in the day. Not too many and pretty easy! Make them the focus! Tick them off! Make a routine, and focus on a reward you can have when you get your list done! (My reward tonight is a couch time out and a milo) Step 4. Change your background noise and inputs! 24/7 news or FB posts= bad and flat! Put limits on all of your inputs - mix it up! Read, music, walk, video chat, comedy, movie - dont let yourself get saturated by negative news inputs. Step 5. Change the way you talk and what you talk about! Dont talk about Covid. Politely cut people off and say "Sorry, please dont go there"...be funny with it! And be careful of where you lead conversations. Try to keep your chats up beat! Find something positive to talk about. Have a laugh with someone! Amazing how much it can improve your mood and others around you! PS I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon....Ill let you know!!! Love you all Jimmy See more

15.01.2022 Ambers message of support for Operation Newstart Casey..... On the 31st of May 2011 I lost a very important person to me, the man who raised me. On a horrific day already going to my grandmothers funeral, he was on his Harley Davidson in front and had a freak accident and died before our eyes. I was 15 and in a world of hurt, not to mention the other contributions to my at the time un-doing, I became withdrawn from school, my friends and my family and started doing drugs, ...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Taylah has a message for the leader of our state..... Dear Mr. Andrews My name is Taylah, Im 22 years old and I live on the West side of beautiful Melbourne.... Im writing to you this afternoon in a hope to help Operation Newstart Casey. In the 3rd term of 2010, I started this program with very low self esteem, no people skills and had been struggling with daily life since the age of 11. I had hit rock bottom and frankly, I didnt want to continue living. Since day 1 of this program Jimmy and Tracey made me feel wanted. Made me feel like I belonged. Ive never met anyone with a bigger heart than these two. Within the few weeks Id spent with such a wonderful group of kids, Jimmy and Tracy helped me knock down the barriers I had up against the world. They let me see for myself how beautiful the world can actually be, but most importantly, they never gave up on me. They believed in me when I didnt know how to believe in myself. I learnt new coping mechanisms and they taught me how to see my own self worth. Jimmy, Tracey and the entire team have helped so many struggling teens and it would be incredibly heartbreaking to see such an inspiring, selfless program be put to sleep. Im asking for your help Mr. Andrews. Im asking that you see how important Operation Newstart Casey is to kids like myself who couldnt see a future. I am a completely different person. Because of this program I have learnt to be the best version of myself. I enjoy being this person. Since the end of my time with Operation Newstart Casey, I have the BEST relationship with my family. I believe the best feeling in the world is after waiting 15 years, i can finally hear my parents say theyre proud of me. Jimmy helped me overcome my fears and went above and beyond to ensure my safety, and to ensure i knew how important I was. There isnt an inch of this world I wouldnt give them if I could. Theres nothing I can give them that can repay them for everything theyve done for me. They gave me my life back and I couldnt be more thankful. If it werent for Operation Newstart Casey, nothing would be possible. They made EVERYTHING possible. Thank-you so much for your time Mr. Andrews I hope to hear from you soon Kind Regards Taylah

13.01.2022 Hey crew...sorry Ive been a stranger but not a lot of reception on the other side of Oz sometimes! Having a brilliant time travelling with my family this term. Hope youre all going ok in the cold! ;)

13.01.2022 A message from Michael to the Premier Daniel Andrews.... Hello, My name is Michael Kelly, 22 years of age and I am just writing this message to explain my experience in newstart program and how it turned my schooling issues, my behaviour issues and social issues all another direction. I was apart of newstart in 2011 when I 14 years. With problems since day one of high school i found it hard to fit in which made my behaviour problems go out of control for peer attention and w...eek after week my family nor school knew what to do. Then a school counsellor named Maxine spoke to me offering me help with the program operation newstarts . The first week i started i missed the very first camp by not going because of the anxiety of meeting new people and being out of my comfort zone. At this time i feel ashamed and lost that I was going to be expelled from my school if i wasnt on this program. I spoke to jimmy on the phone he explained that everything will be okay, that i wont be judged and that this will help me change my direction of life and so i returned still in my head scared to change. But week by week going through the program I was tested and at the end of it i wasnt scared anymore. My communication skills and my self reflecting made me into such a better person. with every experience I did there changed me and everything i did in the future i always thought back to this program how it changed me. During the program you would work on yourself and being a team and always reflect back to what you can change .With this i used it to get myself through school and if it wasnt for Jimmy and Tracey and the other team members there i wouldnt have made it through too Year 12 nor have the skills that i have today. This program is great for youth kids going through the hardest times of there life, they need people like jimmy to guide them let them experiences these life changing experiences so they can better themselves not just at school but in life. Show them new light in a dark life. I would hate to see this not be funded anymore knowing that kids that were like me are struggling. Thank you for your time, Michael Thanks very much Michael!!! <3

07.01.2022 Brooke's message to the Premier.... Dear Mr Andrews, I am writing in regards to help Operation Newstart Casey. ... Operation Newstart was an absolute game changer in life for me! I was a stubborn 16 year old who had fallen out with school, her family and some of her friends. I was withdrawn and getting into all the wrong things and causing mayhem whenever I could, and then I met Jimmy, Chris and Tracey. They showed me courage, determination and success! Things a troubled 16 year old hadn't felt in a long time. They reminded me if I put my mind to anything I could do it. Through out the program I grew as a young adult and instilled my moral groundings to become the person I am today with concrete connections with myself, my family and friends. At 24, I owe not only my adolescents to this program but my adulthood. I am living half way across the world happily married and employed. I don't think I would ever had enough courage to achieve what I have without the help of Operation Newstart. As you read this letter, please envision not only that you helped me but you helped everyone around me... Imagine yourself as my mother in this situation, someone who will be forever thankful for how this program helped me come around and be her best friend again. This program needs funding NOW, don't let it be too late for your child, your friends child, or your child's child who may possibly need this program to get from A to B correctly. Thank you for your time, I look forward to hopefully hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Brooke Hetherington.

06.01.2022 Kaylahs email to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews...... Good afternoon Mr. Andrews, My name is Kaylah, Im 23 years old and currently living in the beautiful state of Victoria. In 2010 I took part in a program that turned my life around. At the time of commencement I was a young, withdrawn, aggressive adolescent who had so many walls & barriers up. I was withdrawn from school and in trouble with law enforcement on a too frequent level.... I was enrolled with Operation Newstart Casey, where I met Jimmy and the beautiful team. It took a few weeks but with so much compassion - Jimmy knocked those walls down; he opened my eyes to coping mechanisms, to team work, social skills, daily life skills and how to treat & respect others. At a time in my life where nothing was going right for me, Jimmy & the team saw the potential in me and accepted the challenge. Jimmy helped me overcome many fears and barriers, and he went above and beyond to make it certain that I would succeed. I graduated Operation Newstart Casey with a huge smile on my face, the skills to commence adulthood with confidence; compassion & a can-do attitude. I will never be able to repay the team at Casey Newstart for all they have done for me. I owe them more than I could ever give back. This course is amazing for the youth of Casey and has done so much for so many, already. It is with the utmost respect that I write to you today to PLEASE HELP Casey Newstart continue to give back to these youth, to continue their amazing work and to continue changing the lives of many. I appreciate your time today Mr. Andrews and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours sincerely, Kaylah Hilliard. Thanks so much Kaylah Hilliard! Intake 14 <3
