19.01.2022 What a great day at The Youthie hosting our Reconciliation Family Fun Day event! Over 200 people visited us participating in activities, enjoying the day with ...family and friends. A special thank you to; The Australian Army for showing off their impressive 8 seater bush vehicle. Cass and Bec, for doing over 100 braids and Charlie for giving some deadly hair cuts. Kaliela sharing her art skills with our youth, using paint pens and water colours. Annemaree and Lilly, for volunteering their time to paint over 100 faces. Katrina and the boys from Joblink Tamworth for operating the photo booth and capturing special moments for our families. Nate Weatherall from Mad Proppa Deadly for the recording studio, youth already starting some recordings. Eedi, Casey and Giaan for cooking up the tasty sausage sizzle to fill our bellies. Britt started off doing basic administration and has now worked her way up to be the Administration Coordinator and "right hand" to the TLALC CEO. Not only is Britt committed to her career at the LALC and the Tamworth community's aspirations but she also gives back to her community by volunteering at the Bounce back program, coordinating and participating in school holiday programs and is a familiar face in Tamworth at many community events. I have just started as a Future Mentor at the Opportunity Hub. ... 2. What do you specialize in through the Opportunity Hub and what do you love most about working here? My main focus at the moment is to help students with University and job applications, scholarships, and to encourage them to think about their dreams and future careers as well as other things. I also hope to encourage students to be more eco-friendly and offer alternatives to do so. I am looking forward to working with students and the community. 3. What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? My favourite inside hobbies are reading and writing, I really enjoy poetry. As for my favourite outside hobbies, it would have to be hiking and crystal hunting. These two hobbies cross over a lot. 4. If you could have any superpower in the world what would it be, and why? It would have to be; Hydrokinesis, to control and shape water any way I wish because I am a big fan of the ocean and hope to live near it some day.

Mad Proppa Deadly (MPD) is an Indigenous Corporation that uses music to fo...ster connection, learning and expression for young people in regional areas. Through using sustainable creative and decolonizing processes we aim to connect young people to each other, their communities, and themselves. We aim to equip young people with skills in writing, music production and modern storytelling technology and provide new opportunities for expression and for young people to imagine futures in which anything could be possible. Founded by Nate Weatherall, a Gumbaynggirr & Gamilaroi man from Armidale NSW, Mad Proppa Deadly aims to provide accessible music education, mentoring and life skills for young people in regional and rural NSW. MOB STUDIO Mob Studio is a music studio built inside a fully mobile 8-metre caravan. Designed and constructed by Mouse Moroney of Soundworks Studios, it boasts two digital audio workstations, a vocal booth and workshop/learning space. Mob Studio Producer/Mad Proppa Deadly founder, Nate Weatherall uses Ableton Live and specializes in hip hop production and recording. He has over 7 years experience working and producing music with young people and operates with a deep understanding of trauma and healing developed through lived experience. Nate has worked with artists such as Horrorshow, Emma Donovan, Jimblah, Jess Ruibero, Radical Son, Sticky Fingers, Joyride and Spit Syndicate.

I have been working with the Hub for almost 4 years.... 2. What do you specialize in through the Opportunity Hub and what do you love most about working here? I'm a bit of an all rounder, focusing on delivering cultural and life skill components during classes as well as assisting with job applications and career planning for students. My fav part of the job is actually getting out into community events, and schools and building relationships. Seeing students that I work with achieve their goals definitely puts me on a high, and that's what keeps me motivated the most is seeing results. 3. What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? I'm a Mum, so my favorite thing to do is spend time with my little girl and family, when i'm not doing that i'm playing in the local oz tag and footy comps. 4. What is your favorite NRL team? I follow the Bronco's and for the State of Origin, i'm with NSW all the way! 5. If you could have any superpower in the world what would it be, and why? I'd like to be able to slow time down because i feel like everything just goes too fast. Or maybe even superhuman strength or speed, just because i reckon it would be mad.
