19.01.2022 DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING = OVERRATED People tend to Injure themselves then automatically assume they need to get an MRI, CT scan or ultrasound.....BULLSHIIIIIT ... You may aswell get your money and throw it away if you do this straight away. It doesn't accelerate your recovery at all Instead, go see a physiotherapist who will assess, diagnose and treat the injury and will more than likely detect what the scan will say anyways! If the injury doesn't improve, then yes get the scan done. If you do get better, great because you won't need a scan at all as it won't change your treatment or outcome Be smart with your body and your wallet the next time you injure yourself #physiotherapy #health #physicaltherapy #physio #fitness #wellbeing #lifestyle

14.01.2022 STOP GOING TO THE GP AS FIRST POINT OF CONTACT FOR MUSCULOSKLETAL INJURIES Even your GP will recommend for you to come see a physio first. There is an increasingly higher rate of people going to their local doctor regarding their musculoskeletal injuries as their first point of contact. There are a few issues with this and reasons why you should see a physio first..... 1. GP's are very busy people with much more important health conditions to keep up to date with. Therefore it is hard for them to stay up to date with the latest evidence regarding your injury, hence not being able to provide you with the best treatment options for YOUR injury. 2. Due to the fact that they are very busy, they do not have the time to do a full assessment to determine what your injury is. This results in them sending you for a scan that you most likely do not need! 3. They are very quick to send you off to a specialist/surgeon when you most certainly do not need to be referred to one. Specialists are not cheap and not easy to get an appointment with. Why leave your injury hanging around for months before you get it checked out properly? We can avoid unnecessary surgeries which will also keep the money in your pocket! Hopefully this will help you to make the right decision next time you get an injury, regardless of how small or big the injury is, that the physio should be your first point of contact for a thorough assessment and treatment. #physio #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #exercise #rehab #injury #health #surgery #fitness #lifestyle

04.01.2022 DRY NEEDLING Don't be a wimp and be scared of a little needle! You ain't fragile! ... Dry needling is an effective and efficient technique for the treatment of muscular pain and myofascial dysfunction. In simple terms, the treatment involves needling of a muscle's trigger points. Dry needling works by increasing blood supply to the tissue in much the same way as massage. The needle is much finer and more accurate than a thumb so it can be a very precise and powerful technique. #physio #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #dryneedling #acupuncture #health #rehab
