14.01.2022 MEDIA: Continuing telehealth is essential to keep Australians connected to healthcare. Telehealth is the lifeline connecting Australians to their dietitian dur...ing #COVID19, but without government action this support will conclude at the end of September. Dietitians Australia is calling on the Federal Government to convert temporary Medicare and Department of Veteran Affairs #telehealth items for dietitians to a permanent feature of healthcare in Australia. Some private health funds have already extended telehealth access for their customers. To ensure equal access for all Australians, we now look to the government to continue to allow telehealth appointments as an option for allied health care. 13.01.2022 APDs are food and nutrition experts who translate the science of nutrition into practical, tailored solutions for healthy living. Unfortunately, access to nutrition support is often not included in National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans. We suspect this may be due to a lack of understanding about how food and nutrition advice can assist people with disability, said Kathryn. However, APDs play a key role in improving the health and wellbeing of Australians with d...isability, especially when provided in an interdisciplinary, person-centered and culturally-appropriate way. https://dietitiansaustralia.org.au//Dietitians-Australia_D

12.01.2022 Yes!!!! Texture modified food (purée/ mashed) that looks appealing and good enough to eat They also prepare food in the usually texture, for people who do not have chewing difficulties. Nutritious and delicious food that is set at a reasonable price through individuals NDIS plans ($2-3 for some meals). Plus they have dietitian involvement in the meals AND employ staff who have disabilities themselves.... Amazing work Dylan. Can’t wait to hear feedback from some of our participants who may benefit from this service.

11.01.2022 How can we be more mindful around meal time? . Mindful eating is about focusing on the present moment and observing the feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations associated with eating and drinking. Being mindful during eating can help us notice our fullness cues, promote better digestion and influence healthier food choices in the future. . Mindless eating is when we unaware of what and how much we are eating and whether we are actually hungry. This can lead to eating too... quickly or overeating. . So how do we ensure we are eating mindfully? - Eating when our bodies tell us to eat - Eating until we feel satisfied - Enjoying meal time with others, at set times and places - Eating foods that are nourishing for our bodies -Eating without distractions to enable us to focus just on the food in front of us - Noticing how the food looks, smells and tastes . Our Dietitians support people to learn to eat mindfully, to eat with awareness and with your senses to completely enjoy the eating experience. . If you would like to learn how to eat mindfully connect with us and book a session with Laura or Allyce. [email protected]. See more
