23.01.2022 The Melbourne Cup is upon us for another year! As you watch the race that stops a nation, I’m sure you have always wondered how thoroughbred horses get their colourful names. Looking through history, the story behind the American horse Pollard’s Vision is definitely intriguing. Pollard’s Vision was a horse that was blind in one eye. He was bought by an owner who was blind in one eye, who then aptly named the horse after the jockey Red Pollard who was also blind in one eye. Being monocular didn’t stop him though. Pollard’s Vision went on to earn six victories and a place in the history books.

11.01.2022 Optometrists are invited to participate in a study conducted by researchers at Deakin University, and Queensland University of Technology. The researchers are Professor Alex Gentle, Professor Sharon Bentley, Associate Professor Heather Connor and Khyber Alam. If you are interested in participating, have any questions or would like more information then please contact Khyber Alam on [email protected] for the Plain Language Statement and a link to the survey.
