25.01.2022 How does Hypnosis work? We're often asked this question so here is the simple answer. Most of our body is controlled by our subconscious brain. Digestion, body temperature, heart rate, even things like walking and driving a car we don't consciously think about, our brain just seems to make it happen. Most of our muscular movement is not controlled by conscious thought either, it happens on 'auto-pilot'; you could describe much of our muscular movement as 'habitual'. That's wh...y when you have muscles that tense up and cause you pain, thinking about it doesn't stop the pain. You can't consciously make your muscles relax. Hypnosis is a form of 'therapy' that enables access to some parts of the subconscious mind. In a deeply relaxed state the subconscious mind is open to 'autosuggestion'. In other words in a relaxed mind state certain subconscious habitual activities can literally be re-set. In this way 'tensions' and 'negative actions' can be altered and in some instances completely reversed. Because many of these tensions happen over long periods of time, it can take a number of therapy sessions to effect a result. We find hypnosis very helpful for problems such as bed wetting, smoking, anxiety, stress and some types of muscular pain. It is quite safe and is science based. We don't put you in a trance nor can we make you do things you don't want to do. If you are unsure about whether hypnosis might help you or someone you know with a problem then come and have a chat.

17.01.2022 Acupuncture needles are about the thickness of a cat's whisker. In fact 20 of these can fit into the stem of a hypodermic needle. The insertion of these beautifully delicate needles at acupuncture or meridian points stimulates the nervous system's signalling points and assists healing. Most feel a tingling sensation in the skin when a needle is inserted.

16.01.2022 Our health is dependent on balance. Balance is achieved when our physical mental and spiritual (not to be confused with religious) well-being are perfectly aligned. We can view this as our ‘connectedness’. Each of these three dimensions are important and when one aspect is attended to at the expense of another then an imbalance will occur. The result is often a manifestation of physical pain, mental anxiety and unhealthy behaviours. Many ancient cultures understood this prin...ciple extraordinarily well and used a 'balanced' approach to wellness using basic medications available to them at the time along with other therapies. The emphasis in modern medicine has been to focus on the huge advancements in medicines to restore physical health often at the expense of the other two important aspects of well-being. Our physical health, should not be treated separately from our mental or emotional health and our spiritual wellness. The tragic result is, we now live in a world of miracle treatments but strangely many people are either not well or find themselves suffering. Ora looks to restore balance and 'complete' health. 14.01.2022 Consider the following: 43% of all adults suffer from the adverse effects of stress Stress causes headaches, heart problems, skin conditions, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, depression and anxiety 75-90% of all doctor office visits are due to stress related issues. Emotional disorder is often due to chronic untreated stress. ... There are many ways to manage stress. The use of hypnosis for stress and anxiety has proven to be effective for many people. A hypnotherapist can help you learn how to relax so that you reduce your stress and tension as well as anxiety. Not only will hypnosis help you relieve stress at any given moment, it can also help you eliminate or at least reduce the problems that are causing you stress, the root problem. Regardless of what our triggers are, it is our mind that tells our body how it will respond to those triggers. If our mind interprets a situation as being stressful it will tell our body that we are in a stressful situation and our body will react accordingly. Hypnotherapy can help you change the way your mind interprets situations. This helps you stay relaxed and calm and allows you to stay in control during those times when you normally are feeling stressed. Stress is created by your thoughts and anticipation of what your mind believes will happen next. Hypnosis for stress and anxiety helps your mind perceive situations differently, which will reduce stress and make you feel better, healthier, happier.

13.01.2022 Do you have habits that embarrass you? Are you nervous or stressed? Nail biting may be considered a harmless habit as a child or teenager but continuing into adulthood may send a false impression, cause shame or embarrassment and separation from colleagues. Hypnotherapy is known to help the triggers of stress as well as habits we form to deal with it such as smoking and nail biting. Ora Augmented Healing provides a safe environment where hypnosis is demystified and can help to platform changed responses and behaviour.

09.01.2022 Science finally catches up with Ancient Medicine It is so satisfying to see new breakthroughs of understanding in science especially when they sometimes reinforce old world thinking rather than denigrate it. Neuroscience is a fascinating and rapidly expanding field. New revelations are regularly occurring that are literally mind-boggling. A recent article in New Scientist magazine reported on new aspects of our subconscious mind. Our subconscious brain is responsible in a lar...ge part for many of our bodies basic functions including 'repairing stuff that breaks'. While much of our subconscious activity is beyond our immediate control there is an interesting overlap that occurs between some conscious thought and subconscious brain activity. It is possible for instance to hold your breath but not for long before eventually your subconscious mind takes over normal breathing for you. So in some instances you can over ride your subconscious brain when you need to (for instance when you dive into water). Hold that thought as you read about this next discovery. The brain has an innate and uncanny way of knowing where all your body parts are without looking. This intuitive understanding of where you are (a sense of a unified self) seems to be the result of a huge number of sensory inputs from every part of your body. The brain takes all of these 'messages' and determines where all your bits are in relation to one another. This all occurs without conscious awareness and it is a process called Proprioception. It is being described as our sixth sense. What is even more remarkable is the brain's perception of where your body finishes and where the outside world begins doesn't appear to be your skin. There is an area (described in the article as a surrounding force field) that extends out to about 30 centimetres from your body. This 'personal space' is to all intents and purposes the outer regions of your self. It is airspace that your brain makes a claim on; it is, as far as it is concerned, a part of you. This remarkable fact accounts for what has in the past been called the Human Aura and indeed your own personal energy field. The question now becomes what does this aura do and more importantly what can we do with it?

06.01.2022 Myopractic is a massage therapy system using deep muscle therapy and structural integration techniques to achieve deep relaxation and relieve chronic pain. Muscles are the prime movers of the skeletal system; therefore if muscles are not functioning correctly then the bones and joints will be disrupted as well. A diagnostic assessment is conducted before any treatment begins but for sufferers of long term pain Myopractic can be a turning point. Talk to us about your problems with pain; we are always keen to find relief for you.
