24.01.2022 GOOD NEWS WEDNESDAY This week our good news story is Callum. Callum had a tricky start to school this year, however this term he has settled in to his new classroom and even completed all his activities early in his therapy session this week! We are beyond proud of Callum, and he wanted to share his drawing of his family with everyone!

24.01.2022 OECI has decided to start Good News Wednesday to celebrate our children and their achievements! One of our children drew a picture of a person for the first time and we are super proud of him! Feel free to send in your own good news stories from your sessions or home practice and we will pick one to share each Wednesday!

23.01.2022 Today the staff at OECI wore green to recognize National Headspace Day. After such a challenging year for so many, we are trying to spread some joy and remind everyone that mental health matters and we can all take small steps each day to a healthy headspace. #headspaceday

23.01.2022 Term 4 started on Monday, which means all our staff are back on board. We are recharged and ready after having time off over the school holidays. The countdown is on until Christmas and the end of 2020, we’ve almost made it!

21.01.2022 EARLY INTERVENTION WEEK 2020 Celebrate from the 20th to 27th August! Dubbo has never missed a 'Kites 4 Kids' day in over 20 years, and we can't stop now! Instead of having a big gathering, let's collect as many kites as we can to make a display in Macquarie Street. Drop your kites to OECI (Baird Drive) or to Buninyong SaCC (Myall Street) before Wednesday next week to be included. Thank you, as always, for all your support for our Early Intervention community!

20.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the OECI team! Our centre will be closed after today until the 6th of January. We hope everyone has a safe and happy start to the new year!

20.01.2022 Our staff stopped in at the Big Bogan yesterday while on outreach to Nyngan. We are in Nyngan regularly, so spread the word! Did you know we also travel to Tottenham, Warren, Trangie and all around Dubbo? Where should we stop in at in your town?

16.01.2022 Good News Wednesday Tamara and Jaylah have kicked off Christmas at OECI making their own snow globes complete with confetti! Jaylah has been attending our transition to school group, so this activity gave her an opportunity to show off her cutting, colouring, and gluing skills. Ask your therapist for a fun activity at your next session - especially if your OT is Denese, OECI's very own Mrs Claus!

16.01.2022 As we slowly return to face to face service, some of our procedures have changed! We will meet you at the front door to go through some paperwork and check everyones temperatures before moving inside. We understand that this change may be tricky for some of our kids, so we have created visuals and a social story to support them. Please contact your Key Worker and these can be emailed out to you!

15.01.2022 Good News Wednesday A little over a week ago, OECI's first Secret Agent Society Social Skills Group graduated from the program. They have walked away with new friends, an increased understanding of their own thoughts and feelings, and most importantly - shiny gold medals! Well done graduates!

13.01.2022 This weekend, OECI celebrated Christmas and "Goodbye 2020" with a wine tour around Mudgee and dinner at Amy's Cafe in Dubbo. After a crazy year it was great to spend some time together celebrating our achievements and finishing 2020 as a team! We look forward to seeing you over the next two weeks for our final sessions of the year. BRING. ON. CHRISTMAS!

13.01.2022 Good News Wednesday Why request each ball individually when you can request them all at once! Sebastian has made amazing progress using PECS to increase his ability to communicate and ask for things that he wants! We are so proud of how far Sebastian has come!

12.01.2022 Early Intervention would like to confirm that we are continuing with scheduled appointments as per the Government Rules and Regulations regarding COVID-19. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the centre on 6882 0599 or contact your Key Worker. We will continue to update families as regularly as possible. Please note: The cancellation policy is still in place as per your service agreements. Should you wish to alter or cancel an appointment, you must provide us with at least 24 hours notice to avoid incurring a charge.

12.01.2022 Today is World Autism Awareness Day and the staff at OECI have dressed in blue to acknowledge all the people in our community with a connection to Autism. Dont worry, we kept our social distance! Thumbs up to Tamara for being willing to take the selfie, although you could have shared camera space with the rest of us!

12.01.2022 GOOD NEWS WEDNESDAY OECI is luckily enough to have two Uni students from CSU on placement with us for the next couple of weeks. Holly is a 3rd year Speech Pathology student and Georgia is a 3rd year Occupational Therapy student. Thank you to our families who are so welcoming and are happy to have the girls in their sessions. You are helping us make a good impression and show them what Early Intervention is all about! When you see them around, say hi!

12.01.2022 Many of our families have been telling us about a fantastic childrens show called Bluey - and it has now become accessible for children who are vision impaired!

11.01.2022 Today our staff wore their favourite jeans to recognise Jeans for Genes Day! Some even rocked the "Double Denim"! Money raised from Jeans for Genes Day goes directly to the Childrens Medical Research Institue and helps find treatments and cures for childrens genetic diseases. We are so happy we could donate to such a great cause! Share your Jeans for Genes Day pictures with us! #jeansforgenesday

11.01.2022 Last night we came together to farewell Steph. Steph has been a part of the OECI team for the past two years as one of our Speech Pathologists. We are sad to see her go, however we wish her all the best and good luck for the future - the lucky duck is moving to the UK !

All our staff are working hard to build their capacity to continue to deliver effective therapy services and supports to our families. 09.01.2022 This Wednesday 18th March, OECI will be holding a parent/carers information session for anyone with children that will be starting Kindergarten in 2021, at the centre from 10am-12pm. This is for children going to both public and private schools so please come along!

09.01.2022 Friendly Reminder; As part of our Service Agreements, our families agree to not post photos or videos of our staff during sessions to any social media platform. Please touch base with your Key Worker if you have any questions or concerns around this. We love sharing with our OECI community so please feel free to send through photos you would like our Administrators to share.

09.01.2022 This week, Gabby and Danica completed the Secret Agent Society Small Group Training in Sydney. This is an evidence based social skills program for children aged 8-12 with ASD, ADHD and emotional/social difficulties. We look forward to starting this amazing program with our families early next year!

09.01.2022 Our Occupational Therapist's are running a parent education session around toilet training for our families in early January next year. This would be beneficial for anyone who is planning on toilet training their children over these school holidays. 08.01.2022 GOOD NEWS WEDNESDAY This week we are celebrating Sophie Yeo who received an award at Cubs (Scouts for younger children) for Trying her hardest, not giving up and setting an example for others. Sophie started attending Cubs this term and has been supported by OECI staff, Emma and Denese. Cubs is an inclusive community group where children learn skills, make friends and lead by example. Well done Sophie on your achievements! We are very proud.

06.01.2022 This term, OECI staff have supported one of our clients to transition to Cubs in Scouts using NDIS Community Participation Funding. He has done so well and is always eager to participate in the activities! We are so proud of him!

05.01.2022 During the COVID-19 lockdown, many of our families enjoyed receiving activities that they could complete at home. Yesterday, Gabby and Danica went out to Nyngan and were shown these amazing faces one of their clients made to reflect the emotions of happy and silly. How creative! 03.01.2022 We will be having a visit from some local firefighters next Thursday 19th March at 10:30 at OECI, so dont be alarmed! They will be talking about fire safety and there will be an opportunity for the children to have photos taken with the fire truck at the end. Everyone is welcome to attend! See you there!
