25.01.2022 September is Dystonia Awareness Month. With the initiatives of Australian Dystonia Support Group, it aims to provide support and information to Australians who have Dystonia, their family members, carers and parents of children with Dystonia. This year, we are all aware that the pandemic limits our resources but we can still help to spread awareness. Here are some ways on how: - Share the Dystonia Awareness Slide in Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=875233109312340... - Add a Dystonia article/story in the media or your Local Council and Community Health Service Newsletters. - Share website page and other Dystonia info on Facebook and Twitter. - Ask a Hospital or Clinic to add information on the Dystonia awareness month on their medical display screen - Share the Dystonia Awareness Video. https://australiandystoniasupportgroup.wordpress.com/aware/ - Make it the month to donate to Dystonia research or to a cause relating to Dystonia https://www.facebook.com/groups/AustralianDystoniaSupportGroup/ And if you are looking for a support group in relation to Dystonia, join the community. Learn more about Dystonia through this website: https://australiandystoniasupportgroup.wordpress.com/
23.01.2022 This week being Dementia Awareness Week, I want to acknowledge that this continues to be a difficult time for anyone who has a significant person in their life who has dementia and it's unlikely that you can visit them in their home or aged care residence, and the use of technology to remain engaged with your loved one is often a difficult challenge. Thinking of you and your families this week and big hugs As acknowledged by Wicking Dementia Centre, September is a special m...onth as we act to spread awareness around dementia. Dementia Australia will be running Dementia Action Week through the 21st to 27th with a tagline "A little support makes a lot of difference." Together, let's support people who have dementia, families taking care of someone with dementia and/or the carers. https://www.dementia.org.au/dementia-action-week

13.01.2022 Today is International Day of Older Persons. Let's make them feel loved and supported. This year, the United Nations posted a really good question: "Pandemics: Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing?" Read about this here: https://www.un.org/en/observances/older-persons-day Older people are at high risk with COVID-19 reason why they are advised to strictly stay at home as much as possible. Though it should not limit us to show love, care and support to them. ... We are privileged for the technology we have today where it allows us to get in touch even with our elders from the other side of the world. Let's keep in touch with them.
