24.01.2022 Professor Pioneers Our Pioneers have done a range of experiments this week On Tuesday they were looking at air, we used 3 different sized balloons attached to a tube on a string to see which would go the furthest. The children decided on the size of the balloons and hypothesised which would go the furthest. It was the middle sized balloon in the end and we then discussed why this may be ... On Wednesday they looked at colours and the way they floated on the surface of milk. Then adding detergent to break the surface tension and allow the milk to mix with the food dye On Thursday they looked at the way different ingredients mix together. With bicarb soda and vinegar they were able to see a reaction between substances. 20.01.2022 Sun Safety With the weather warming up we wanted to share a little about our sun safety policy. Our aim is to always protect all children and staff from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. To ensure the outdoor environment provides shade for children, educators and staff to minimise unsafe UV exposure. This station is located in our foyer and features sunscreen, gloves for application, a mirror to allow children to apply it themselves and a pos...ter updated daily with the hours in which extra sun safety precautions should be taken including the maximum UV rating for the day. This information is taken from the Bureau of Meteorology and we use the SunSmart app to monitor the conditions throughout the day. We ask that parents please pack a hat for their child each day. We also follow the Cancer Council Australia recommendations on clothing, which are: covers the shoulders, back and stomach is loose fitting such as loose-fitting shirts and dresses with sleeves and collars or covered neckline, or longer style skirts, shorts and trousers. Children who are wearing clothing which does not follow these recommendations can be provided with spare clothing which is sun safe or will be required to play under shade or in an area protected from the sun. 10.01.2022 Dentist Visit Today we had a dental visit available to our children age 2 and up! The children were involved in a demonstration with toys so they understood what was going to happen and learnt how to clean their teeth... They had their teeth checked and then hopped onto the chair for a clean and a bit more of an inspection, this was their first dentist visit for many of the children and they were amazing!
