21.01.2022 World class Orange player, Helen Worland, has recently returned from Croatia, where she was selected to represent Australia in the World’s Teams Competition. Following on in the next week, she played in the individual Seniors World Tournament in the 65-85 years age groups. The complex at Umag is first class and the competition fierce. Over 600 players from 54 countries competed in the second week and Helen said she was thrilled to have won the gold medal in the 65 years Ladi...es Doubles event, with her regular partner, Adrienne Auis from Canada. They played an American pair in the final and won 6/4, 6/1. Our Club shares in Helen’s happiness and are very proud of her ongoing achievements on the court. After a wet start last Wednesday, for the planned commencement of the Spring Night Comp, we managed to get all the sets played and it turned out to be a very mild night with plenty of long rallies. Winners on the night were Brett Campbell with 4 sets/25 games, second was Col Parsons with 2 sets/19, third was a tie between Daniel Kozul and Rod Buesnel both landing on 15 games. This week in round two, we had a great turn out with a few new players, which was fantastic. Winners were Daniel Kozul and Chrissie Kjoller who won all 4 sets and tied for first place with 4/22 games. Second spot went to Rod Buesnel with 3 sets/20 games. In the ‘Turn Up Tuesday Junior Comp’ this week, there was a three way tie for first place between Kaydn McLachlan, Tom Horan and Steph Gersbach, all finishing on 18 games. Second place went to Flynn Thornton and Darcy Schofield on 15 games. Thanks to Emma Clarke who is filling in for Club’s coach Darren, who is currently recovering from recent surgery. We wish him all the best. See more

14.01.2022 All court hire to the general public is naturally picking up again, now that the warmer weather is here. One group in particular, certainly took advantage of this and booked a few courts at our complex last week, to have a social hit. They were a group of Duntryleague Golfers, who decided to put down their sticks for a day and pick up their racquets, for a change to their regular routine. One person that I knew, was a regular good player and another, had played tennis in hi...s past. That was the organiser Geoff, who said that he hadn’t played tennis for 20 years, but once on the court, it all became natural to him. After their hit they sat and enjoyed the ambience of our backyard. They were very warmly welcomed by our Club and said they’d be back again. So, if you enjoy a game of tennis, why not organise a group of family, friends, sport or work colleagues, for a social game? Court hire is very reasonable, as well as the barbeque hire. For all court bookings, please phone Tennis Club on 63628020. The Spring Night Comp on Wednesdays is attracting more players now, who are enjoying the milder nights. Everyone who came this week had some great tennis as well as plenty of laughs. First place went to yours truly, with a total of 22 games/ 3 sets, and so very close behind, for equal second were Col Parsons and Elizabeth Grady both finishing on 21/3 and in their shadow was Anthony Miklich on 20 games/3 sets. So a very close scoring night all round. The ‘Turn Up’ Junior Comp this Tuesday continues to attract players. The kids are really enjoying it, and it is fantastic to witness them on the courts. For any parent who feels their child may like to participate in this friendly comp, please phone the Clubhouse to register. All they need is to be able to serve and score. This Sunday, the Orange Ex-Services Sports Awards will be held out at the Country Club and we would like to wish all our Tennis nominees the very best. A reminder to all, that our annual Christmas party and presentation night is being held at the Orange Ex-Services Club, on Saturday the 30th November, with R.S.V.P’s, strictly due by the 19th. Mixed social is on this Sunday at the usual time of 1.30pm. Committee person, Carol Hartin will be on duty to accept the player’s fees. See more

02.01.2022 There was a successful result at the end of the day last Sunday, when a few of our players travelled up to Dubbo to contest their Over 35’s Seniors Tournament at Paramount Tennis Club. Members Lindy Crossley and Brett Campbell , paired up to play in the combined A and B Grade, Mixed Doubles event on the Sunday afternoon. They played consistent tennis, winning four matches convincingly 8/0, 8/0, 7-1/ 6/2, with the only loss being to a strong Dubbo pair 3/5. There were six team...s who entered the event, all from the local area and further. That morning, the Ladies and Men’s Doubles were played. Brett Campbell paired with Col Parsons in the combined A and B Grade and were pleased with a third placing. Players had to contend with the hot and gusty conditions but all in all had an enjoyable day, both on and off the courts. The third round of the Spring Comp was contested on Wednesday night with a good turn up, to utilise three courts. It was a very mild night for tennis and players lapped it up and enjoyed their rallies along with the laughs. First place went to Col Parsons with 4 sets/21 games, second place went to Chrissie Kjoller with 3/23 and third was Sam Radojicic on 3/21. All players are very welcome to come along to any of our Social tennis days, either for the Wednesday Night Comp at 6.30pm, Thursday Ladies Social morning at 9 a.m. or the Sunday afternoon Mixed Social at 1.30pm. Second place went to Tom Horan on 17 games and third spot went to Kaydn McLachlan and Steph Gersbach both finishing with 16 games.
