25.01.2022 POP-UP PODCAST On Tuesday 24th November, eleven interested students from Years 7 10 participated in a workshop called Pop-Up Podcast. Stephanie Aceglav from Media For Millennials, presented a fantastic day allowing students to research, produce, interview, edit and present their very own podcast. Stephanie drew on her own experience as a journalist and educator to give students the opportunity to develop their skills in a fun and engaging way.... Media for Millennials

23.01.2022 Year 9 Marine Studies spent 4 days in Jervis Bay with Mr Schenkel and Miss Percival. Students took part in various water activities ranging from boat riding, snorkelling, sea kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Only three individuals were sea sick (one of whom just happened to be Miss Percival, but we won’t talk about that). Students positive behaviour and dedication to completing all activities was commended by the instructors. Thank you for a great last 4 days of school!

13.01.2022 Today the U15's OHS boys won 7 out of 7 of their games at the CHS basketball gala day. Despite no training sessions, the boys worked exceptionally well as a team and played with great sportsmanship. They won most games by 15+ points but kept their cool down the stretch in two tight games to come away victors. Thanks must go to Rachel, Dan, Dakota and Rory for reffing throughout the day.

09.01.2022 Yesterday a small group of students who have been completing Orange High School’s first Drumbeat Program, performed for a group of teachers and students in the Music Centre recital room. This performance was to celebrate the achievements of completing the course. The course is a resilience program using the African djembe drums. This performance included a compilation of the pieces and lessons learned over the term. It was lovely to see the students perform proudly. The stude...nts confidently introduced pieces and explained some of the concepts that we have been working on as well as performed complicated rhythms on the djembes. For example, the Respect unit is based on the phrase ‘When we give we get, don’t forget respect’. We discuss this topic and play a piece of music that is based on the phrase. It was heart-warming to see an audience of teachers and support staff who were invited personally by the students. The audience joined in on some of the performances and made the students feel comfortable, thank you! #orangehighfamily

Mr Pearson is highly respected by his peers and is regularly consulted for expert advice and guidance. His commitment to innovative teaching and learning has been reflected in the development of highly engaging teaching programs that promote and value a wide variety of career options. The increased number of school-based apprenticeships is an example of his dedication to improving the skills and knowledge of our students. Mr Pearson has successfully connected Orange High School to the community in both tertiary studies and workplace environments. His extensive connection with external providers led to him coordinating an extraordinary 80 different career based experiences for our students last year.
