25.01.2022 A TOBAN (Total Fire Ban) has been declared for the Central Ranges for tomorrow. Weather is expected to be warm and quite windy during the morning with conditions hopefully easing early afternoon. As always, report all fires to 000. We are number 10 on the map.

25.01.2022 A big thank you to Cohen Cartwright Constructions for installing our electric door openers. They are a fantastic addition to our station and improves our response times as the button can be pressed and left to open (or shut) whilst crew prepares for the incident. A short video is in the comments.

23.01.2022 Our Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook: December 2020 February 2021 is out today, and shows that large parts of NSW west of the Great Dividing Range face ab...ove normal fire conditions, as well as grassland areas of the ACT and into north eastern Victoria. Grass and crop fires are the main concern in these locations for the summer months as the growth dries out in the warmer weather. WA has largely missed out on the rainfall in 2020 and conditions are very dry, with parts of the south and south west coasts expecting above normal fire conditions through summer. 20.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more

19.01.2022 It's a warm sunny day in Orange today and the Brigade is out doing some valuable training. Scenarios have included property protection, hose setup, over runs and general hose practice for newer members.

17.01.2022 This weekend is Get Ready Weekend. In years past, our Brigade and others have held events to promote fire safety and preparation for the coming fire season. Unfortunately due to covid 19 restrictions, we've been unable to run the planned event at Bunnings with other local brigades. Over the next few days have a look at our posts for the coming season. To start it off, here's a photo of last year's event.

17.01.2022 It's a warm and possibly windy (later this afternoon) day. Please report all fires to 000.

16.01.2022 Double demerits are now in force from April 1 to April 5. Please drive carefully and enjoy the Easter break.

16.01.2022 Condolences to the Fred Fahey Aerial Services family. The video is a lovely tribute and demonstrates the amazing work these pilots do during the fire season in Australia.

15.01.2022 In celebrating the contributions of Indigenous Australians in NAIDOC week. There are some fantastic initiatives that first nations people are leading. Here is a link to an article from earlier this year. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.abc.net.au/article/11794392

14.01.2022 Double demerits start at midnight tonight and continue until 11.59pm, Monday 5 October. Police will be targeting speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences.

13.01.2022 Due to deteriorating weather conditions landholders undertaking harvest operations in the Forbes, Parkes, Lachlan and Weddin Local Government Areas (LGAs) are advised to stop and check weather conditions before deciding to continue. www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/harvesting-guide #NSWRFS

12.01.2022 Another training photo from tonight, some of members taking their first forays into CABA Training..... And having a bit of fun!

12.01.2022 If you've driven around our region recently you would have noticed the long grass apparent in some areas around Orange. It has been wonderful to see green paddocks for once, after the long dry over the last few years. However, this does increase the risk of grass fires as the weather starts to warm up later in the year. Make sure your property is ready for the coming season!

11.01.2022 You know the alert levels of Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. The way these are displayed on our website and Fires Near Me NSW smartphone app is c...hanging. Soon you’ll see these new icons. It’s part of the new Australian Warning System, to help you receive consistent information in emergencies no matter where you live, work or travel. While the icons may look different, what they mean doesn't change - you should check for information about what to do to protect you and your family. Keep an eye out for the new icons later this week. Check https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system for info.

11.01.2022 With the weather warming up, its the best time to start thinking and planning what you'll do if a fire starts near your home. Attached is information Bout the fire outlook for the current season.

10.01.2022 Be aware of the conditions if travelling over the weekend.

08.01.2022 A bit of training tonight for our Juniors and newer members - portable pumps. These small pumps are of great use if a truck needs to be refilled from a water source or even fire fighting at a pinch.

08.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast heat wave conditions to affect much of NSW until at least next Tuesday. This will increase the fire risk across much of state with Very High and Severe fire danger likely on the weekend. Plan and prepare now.

07.01.2022 Congratulations and very well deserved!

05.01.2022 The rain is wonderful, but..... If you've noticed that your gutters are overflowing with this rain, perhaps it's time to clean them out. It's also a fantastic preparation for the fire season. Gutters full of debris allows embers during fires to catch the leaf/twig litter on fire. Cleaning out your gutters is just one way to prepare your home for fire season.

05.01.2022 Just a reminder to our Brigade Members - no training tonight - enjoy your public holiday!

04.01.2022 With the weather warming up, a timely reminder!

02.01.2022 FACT: Lots of rain means more fuel for bush & grass fires. It only takes a few days of hot, dry and windy weather to cure grass and make it flammable. Make a bush fire survival plan so you know what you will do if there’s a bush or grass fire near you #getreadyweekend #nswrfs

02.01.2022 Wondering about the coming fire season and what you can do to prepare? Come down and ask our knowledgeable firefightera about what you can do. Whilst you're at that, grab a yummy hot sausage sanga and a cold drink!

01.01.2022 With all the hard work that the volunteers have put in over the past few years with the Orange RFS brigade protecting our local communities and those not in our local area from fires our local Fire Control Centre has rewarded us with a brand new Cat 1 tanker. This new tanker has upgraded features over our older truck such as a larger pump, front mounted monitor (water cannon) and increased storage for all our gear. We had our new truck parked in our shed for only a few nights and had not even had a chance to set it up with all our gear when we where asked to assist another local brigade with a haystack fire. Everyone please welcome Orange 1 alpha to the zone.
