Before starting at Orangetheory Fitness I trained in Muay thai at Phoenix gym since 2000. Worked there as a Manager and coach since 2007, teaching Muay thai - adult and kid’s classes, also teaching Fitness classes.... In my spare time I like to spend time with my 2 beautiful grandchildren, also relaxing and reading. I am loving my time at Orangetheory, everybody is awesome to work with. Favourite OTF workout: a combination of strength and power! I enjoy lifting that little bit heavier on the floor, and enjoy back to back all outs... 04.01.2022 #TrainerTipThursday TRX Low Row The TRX low row is a great exercise to strengthen the back & biceps, whilst improving shoulder and core stability through suspension training.... How to guide: Grab the handles in a neutral grip position, palms facing together Step out on an angle and straighten out the arms Raise the hips and squeeze the glutes to maintain alignment through the the core and pull the shoulders back and down Moving the arms only, pull the elbows back to pull yourself up finishing with the handles just below the chest, squeeze your shoulder blades together Under control, lower yourself back to starting position What to avoid: Dipping the hips down after every repetition or performing the exercise with hyperextension through the lower back will cause the core to become disengaged and could lead to back pain, we want to keep a nice straight line through the body by engaging the core (pulling the belly button to spine) and drawing the hips up. Rounding shoulders: Pulling the shoulder back and properly engaging the muscles of the upper body is key to improvement in shoulder stability, failure to do this could lead to shoulder injury. Modification: Move your feet further from the anchor point, meaning you are lifting less body weight Progression: Move your feet closer to the anchor point, meaning you are lifting more body weight
