25.01.2022 It's #OrangutanAwarenessWeek and today we're highlighting OFI's #Reforestation Team! At OFI, we don't just rescue #orangutans. We also address the root of the issue through education and reforestation. Since the launch of our Reforestation Program in 2017, we've planted around 370,000 native seedlings in forests that were destroyed in the massive fires of 2015 and 2019. In this video, the team is planting around 4,000 native trees at the Rawa Kuno Legacy Forest which burned during the 2015 fires. With your support, we can help restore more forest and provide healthy homes for wild orangutans and other wildlife. Please consider a donation at https://orangutanfoundation.org.au/donate/ #saynotopalmoil

22.01.2022 Orangutans build nests primarily for the same reason that humans use beds ... to have a comfortable place to sleep. Wild orangutans will either build a new nest or re-enter an old nest every night. They will also often take a rest in a nest during the day.

21.01.2022 During Orangutan Awareness Week we continue to celebrate the incredible work of our caregivers. Here are just a few of the wonderful women at the OFI Care Centre who work tirelessly to look after rescued #orphan #orangutans in the infant nursery at Camp Danielle. Camp Danielle is tucked away in a corner of the Learning Forest away from the hustle and bustle from the rest of the Care Centre. Here, the infant orangutans have tranquility and quiet with only the sounds of the for...est around them. Each orangutan is cared for in a tailor-made way including diet and medicine (if necessary). With a dedicated team of caregivers working day and night shifts, the infant orangutans receive care around the clock. For those infants who are too young to sleep alone at night, a caregiver will sleep with them to provide the reassurance they need. As you can imagine, the staff genuinely love their work and become very attached to the orphans! #OrangutanAwarenessWeek #orangutancaregivers #orangutanrehabilitation #borneo #saynotopalmoil #babyorangutan #fosteranorangutan #donate #ofi #ofiaustralia
