20.01.2022 Hi all, I know that everyone would love to know when or whether our footy/netball season will get underway, our club is working with the league and is waiting on direction from AFL Gippsland and ultimately AFL Victoria/Netball Victoria for when we maybe able to play, what crowd numbers we're allowed, whether social functions, canteen and booth are allowed Although we are allowed to train we have decided that training won't start until the week of 8th if June, hopefully by the...n we have more information on what the season may look like and to properly prepare for the regulations that are put on us. Until then please try and keep up your fitness and your coaches will be in contact when your training will commence. Here is the link for the Covid19 infection control training, it would be good if as many people as possible could do it, it will take you ten minutes https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-infection-control-trai Cheers Doc

14.01.2022 After our community had a terrible tragedy last week and now the possibility of COVID positive people in the area over the weekend, as a community it's now more important than ever that we all come together and funnel our energy into beating this next challenge, I am sure that the couple that visited our town from Melbourne realise what they have done is wrong, so let's put our energy and time into what we can do to protect ourselves and our community, Practise good hygiene... * Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others * Understand the risk and symptoms. * Stay home and avoid contact if you’re feeling unwell. * Take care wherever you go, assume others may be carrying the virus . Where a mask in public, We can do it, Doc

13.01.2022 It’s not every day you get to sit down for a chat with a president who also was a 500 game player. Not just a legend on the field, Doc has continued to give bac...k to his club and community since his retirement. We revisited some of his favourite memories of the Orbost hay days and also touched on some of the challenges for remote clubs such as his that are suffering from declining local industry and population. Doc is a passionate and caring all-round ripper bloke, oh yeah and he can tell a funny yarn or two as well... Check out this episode through the link below https://linktr.ee/thecountryfootyprez

09.01.2022 Hi all, The answer to the question that everyone has been asking is that there will be NO senior footy or netball for the 2020 season, After club presidents met with the EGFNL commission, the eight clubs voted unanimously to cancel the season. Thanks to everyone for their patience, Lets stick together and start working towards 2021, (surely it will be better)... Stay Healthy, Doc

06.01.2022 Hi All, We are all missing the footy and netball season and the camaraderie and companionship that comes from training, playing and socialising together. However, we also know that by doing the right thing and following the government’s guidelines, we will get back together sooner. When we are able to come together, skill and fitness will continue to improve, but so will the mental health of our players and club members, and we are sure that the spirit of our club and communi...ty will be strengthened having gone through this challenge together. We know that training solo has been hard, so well done to all the footballers and netballers who have been sharing some of their efforts through group chats. So far, a number of footballers have shared their first 4km time trial result, and some have even shared their second and third results. We also know that many footballers and netballers have begun a push-up challenge and will be keen to see how this one plays out. On May 11, some decisions will be made by the State Government about whether the State of Emergency is to continue. After this date we will know a little more about what we can and can’t do. In the meantime, the club has begun planning for a return to training based on the things that we do know. Currently we are at Level A restrictions in regards to community sport. When we get to Level B, both Football and Netball will be allowed to train in groups of 10 for skill and fitness drills (no defence, tackling, team play etc). We are currently developing some plans so that as soon as we are allowed to, we can start training in these small groups. We will share these plans once we know more (most likely at some point next week). At a more local level, due to an ongoing illness and the likelihood of future surgery, our senior coach, Russell Christy has stepped down as Senior Coach for the 2020 season. He will continue to be a massive supporter of our club and will be involved in the background at all levels. We are thankful for all that he’s done for our club and wish him all the best for a speedy recovery. Who’s going to coach you ask, the club is very thankful and happy that Peter Seal has agreed to take on the senior coaching position in light of Russell’s illness, Sealy will be keen to get our playing group together to keep the club atmosphere/ mate ship alive that everyone enjoys about being involved in a club, I encourage all our players to try their best to keep their fitness up as I am sure your aware that Sealy likes to go for the odd run or two Please continue to stay safe, look after each other and do all that you can to help us return to local footy and netball as soon as possible. Cheers Doc
