25.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Joan Matthews a long time member of this club. Joan passed peacefully in hospital yesterday. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends. Condolences from all at the Orbost Golf Club.

25.01.2022 Club Championship Update. This is the current standings after two rounds of our 2020 Club Championships. A draw for the final round to be played this Saturday the 24th will be posted shortly. Anyone wishing to play on that day that currently has not been playing in the championship will be started before the field from 10.30 am.

24.01.2022 Great to see Covid-19 restrictions lifting and golf returning to some semblance of normal. Competition golf is now permitted with some slight restrictions. Some changes have been made to the program so that we can try to fit in as many board events as possible. As a result the October Monthly Medal will be played on Saturday the 3rd of October. The Men’s Foursomes Championship on the 10th October and the Men’s Club Championships commence on Saturday 17th first round, Sunday 18th second round and the final round on Saturday 24th October. Please advise any of your friends that don’t have social media of these changes.

24.01.2022 Attention all Members following the successful removal of the pines volunteers are required to help bring the course back to pristine conditions. Sticks need to be picked up, sods need placing back to fill holes and more heaps need burning and attended during that operation. Please approach the Greens convener Greg or curator Brian for allocation of tasks. All help would be greatly appreciated.

21.01.2022 Pine trees are being removed from the course over the next couple of weeks. The eleventh is looking quite different at this moment and the rest of the course will follow suit soon. Some people may find the changes challenging, but the benefits to fairways will be seen in the long run. At least the sun will be able to shine where it hasn’t for a long time.

21.01.2022 This is a welcome discussion for Tim to have with the relevant authorities and we hope that some sense of uniformity comes from these discussions. We wait with hope.

18.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL GOLFERS and GREEN FEE PLAYERS Orbost Golf Club CLOSED for all Golf this morning. This is as a result of the State Government directive issued on the 25th of March prohibiting all golf courses in the state to operate until at least the 13th of April. Any person in contravention of the directive could face a fine of $20,000 and a Club found operating could be fined $100,000. 17.01.2022 Member, hope you are all keeping safe and well during this prolonged self isolation period. Golf will re-emerge stronger when this crisis is over and our club will reunite move positively into the future. Volunteers have been working hard in the interim to keep the course in pristine condition. Brian has been working tirelessly and we thank him very much for his dedication. We have a supply of split firewood available for sale to members. Cost is $100 per metre either pick... up yourself which would be preferred or alternatively delivered in the Orbost town area, delivery fee will be negotiated for areas outside the town area. 15.01.2022 Members please note the draw for tomorrow’s 2nd round of the club championship.

15.01.2022 Welcome back old friend, we’ve missed you. On Wednesday Daniel Andrews has decreed that we can play golf again as long as we observe some simple rules. Social distancing 1.5 metres apart. No sharing a cart unless you live with the other person. No more than 10 people in a group. No congregating around the tee or around the club house. The club house will remain closed until further notice. Captain Steve will advise whether and when competitions will recommence. As for me I’...m stuck in Queensland for a few more weeks, where golf has been played all along. Remember be responsible. Clive See more

13.01.2022 Orbost Golf opening day was held Saturday 15th January, the Sue Joiner Memorial 4BBB medley. This year’s winners with a fantastic score of 50 points were Keith and Jodie Voss. Congratulations on a great round. Many thanks to the Joiner family for sponsoring this event.

12.01.2022 Golf today went off okay with the revised rules and social distancing. Great score by the winner Mark Glenister with 41 points. Full results are :-

11.01.2022 After a couple of false starts we completed our final round of the championships yesterday. Congratulations to all of the winners.

10.01.2022 ALL MEMBERS please take note that due to Covid 19 (Corona Virus) and Government Regulation the Club House will be closed until further notice. No alcohol or food. Golf will continue with a few changes to the entry procedure. There will not be the book available in the foyer, cards and envelopes are in the box outside the club house, please place the correct money in the envelope with your full name legible and place in the slot near the starters office. Mark your own card verifying your score with your playing partners, your signature only required on the card and place it in the same slot on completion of your round. There will not be a presentation, results will be posted on the window and on this forum. Thanks for your understanding and hope this crisis ends soon.

06.01.2022 All members and guests please note that the Covid 19 stage three has been extended to the 11th of May. The restrictions on golf still remain. Please observe social distancing and remain healthy, we will get through this and play again.

06.01.2022 Championship Draw for Saturday 24th October 2020

06.01.2022 Good evening Members, under government stage 3 directions due to Covid-19 tomorrow Wednesday 5th of August will be the final competition day for at least the next 6 weeks. As of midnight on Wednesday competitions are not allowed, social golf for exercise will be permitted only in groups of 2. Unless you are living in the same household. More information will follow when it is released by DHHS. Stay safe.
