24.01.2022 Just a quick post to thank all community members and emergency services personnel for making yesterday's Australia Day celebration one of the best in recent years! We estimate a crowd of around 250 people, which is a great turnout! Congratulations to the award winners:... Event of the Year - CFA 100 Year Celebration AND the St Andrews Uniting Church Centenary Flower Show (joint winners) Young Citizen of the Year - Daniel Waddell Citizen of the Year - Ruth Christy Thanks to Josh Luck for singing the National Anthem, to Dick Roebuck for raising the Australian flag, and to Bev Weir for reciting the very aussie poem! Thank you to the members of the Rotary Club of Orbost who put a lot of time and effort into making sure the event went smoothly, and catered for the great turnout! Special thanks to members of the Australian Defence Force and Fijian Defence Force who helped in collecting and setting out the tables and chairs and heavy speakers - they prevented some visits to the physio by the Rotary members! See you all again next year!

21.01.2022 At last Wednesday's meeting we enjoyed a presentation by Carol Crewe, the Operations Manager of Gippsland Rotary Centenary House (GRCH), Traralgon. GRCH provides affordable and supportive accommodation for patients undergoing cancer treatment and other medical services at Latrobe Regional Hospital, and their families. Carol informed us of the recently opened third stage of the facility, which now brings the available accommodation to 30 rooms. Rooms are available to patients... and their families at substantially less cost than other accommodation options because the facility is subsidised by Rotary Clubs in the district, including the Rotary Club of Orbost. GCRH was built in 2006, after being initiated by Gippsland Rotary Clubs to mark the Centenary of Rotary International. Rotary Clubs in eastern Victoria are still strong financial supporters of the facility.
