16.01.2022 Lets do some math! If you are designing with solar lighting, the quickest way to verify a suppliers light output claim is to calculate battery capacity vs power load. Example: 240 Watt Hours (12V 20Ah Battery) 60 Watts = 4 hours before the battery is flat.... Consider that on an overcast day where the battery may only get a 10% charge. The light will only run at 60W for 24 minutes. Whilst there is a lot more engineering that we do to ensure the reliability of our products, crunching these numbers will quickly tell you if its going to work or not. To comply with Australian pathway lighting standards (AS/NZS 1158 3.1 2020), the light levels must be based on the LOWEST lighting level throughout the night - not the sensor driven higher level. Also the range of most solar lights sensors is considerably less than the half the distance between poles, therefore often you may not have the light pole in front of the pedestrian in bright... mode.
