21.01.2022 At Orchard we encourage children to care for themselves. Through role modelling we are scaffolding their learning of self help skills. This month we are focusing on dressing ourself. Looks like they have mastered this task.

20.01.2022 Fantastic science week at Orchard Montessori, we have had lots of experiments Giant ice cube, children collecting nature objects to freeze in the large ice cubes, then watch them re-appear when it melted, the children squeezed oranges then froze them to understand liquid and solid Watching the Food colouring spread in milk, watching skittles make a rainbow. All the children had a hands on experience throughout the whole week.

20.01.2022 Book Week 19th -23rd Aug. We are having a dress up week, so you can dress up as your favourite character (if you wish to) and bring a book that we can all read together. If my books can help children become readers, then I feel I have accomplished something important. Roald Dahl

14.01.2022 Thanks to all the parents that helped us in creating our lovely trees for National Tree day. The children showed so much excitement and engagement with this event that we have decided to keep in line with this theme for Science Week. We will be exploring our natural world using the changing seasons with a focus on trees. If parents have any ideas please speak to Julie or Mia .

08.01.2022 This month we will be celebrating Earth Day, We welcome ideas and suggestions from parents and families. "Environmental education is a bit different than English or history education. This is because people, and children, interact with nature and the environment differently than they would interact with a book. Children engage with the environment through physical interactions, from observing insects pollinating plants to playing in a freshwater creek, as opposed to in-classroom experiences."
