24.01.2022 Santa Photos With Your Pets Santa Claus will be visiting Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital during December 2020 to take photos with your pets. Santa will be here from Tuesday 1st December until Thursday 24th December 2020, Mon-Fri (9am-5pm) and on Saturdays (9am-2pm). Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Santa will be wearing a mask underneath his beard. We usually have a staff member taking the photograph of your pet with Santa, however to minimize the number of people in the roo...m, we will require you to take your own photograph using your phone/camera, or with our camera where we can print off the photo for you. Only 1 client per pet will be allowed in the room at one time. Santa will be photographed with pets only. For a $10 cash donation, your Santa photo is presented in a Christmas card, with all proceeds donated to the Guide Dogs NSW. We have Christmas themed props for your pet’s photos (e.g. hats and scarves), feel free to bring in your own outfits. See more

22.01.2022 Do you want to see a picture of a puppy being born? Don't panic, it's not a gory picture! Lola the pomeranian had already passed 3 puppies at home and 1 was stillborn. We examined Lola, and there were 1-2 more puppies felt in the abdomen. We gave an oxytocin injection and took a radiograph to confirm how many puppies were left in the uterus. As we took the radiograph, Lola wiggled and a puppy was born! The chances of catching a puppy being born on a radiograph is astronomical...! You can see the puppy at the vulval area of Lola. All 3 puppies and Lola are doing well, lots of suckling! See, I told you it wasn't gory! Camille

20.01.2022 National Veterinary Nurse’s Day Friday 9th October 2020 was National Veterinary Nurse’s Day. It is great to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of our veterinary nurses. The nurses do a lot of work behind the scenes that you do not see or hear about. The nurses monitor the patients whilst under general anaesthetic, medicate animals whilst in hospital, answer enquiries, clean the hospital, and ensure the smooth running of the veterinary hospital. Without the veterinary nurs...es, we would not be able to do our job as veterinarians. We celebrated by having a long lunch, which is hard to do in a busy veterinary hospital. We have 12 nurses at the hospital, and I hope you get to know them as you come and visit our hospital. Penrith Small Business Awards 2020 Unfortunately we did not win the Penrith Small Business Awards 2020. We were so happy to be nominated and have our clients support us. Thank you so much for voting for us, we truly appreciate your support. Due to the Coronavirus crisis, the Awards dinner had limited seating numbers and we were unable to get enough tickets for all of our staff. So, we organized a dinner out with all of the staff and their partners at a local restaurant, so the whole team could enjoy a night out together. No one likes to lose, so as always, Camille presented the staff with our own award. The Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital Award of Excellence 2020.
