25.01.2022 An exciting opportunity to play with Melbourne's Senior Orchestra!

23.01.2022 An invitation to a free live-streaming concert from Jenny Lu. "Dear friends, Hope that you are keeping very well and safe during all the chaos! I would love to invite you to my online recital 'Night and Morning, the Angel Sings' on Thursday 14 May at 12 noon. This will be a free concert streamed live through Panoramic Music. No ticket is required, just join and watch via the link below!* The title and program of the concert drew their inspirations from Mikhail Lermontov's poe...m 'the Angel', where a lonely soul searches for an angel’s song of Heaven in the land of living guided by his fragmented memory and a longing for rest in beauty. It signifies and explores the significance of music in a time of difficulty and uncertainty. Centred in this program is Nikolai Medtner's Sonata-Tragica (Tragica Sonata), and I will also be performing compositions by Chopin, Debussy and Shostakovich. Looking forward to sharing some of my heart's favourite repertoire with you and to brighten up your Thursday lunch :). More details are as the following. Love, Jenny. *P.s. the host of my recital, Panoramic Music, might ask for donations in support of their funding although this is a free concert. Please do not be put off or feel obliged by this for it is completely voluntary and you can watch and listen for free, I will be satisfied just by knowing that you are there.. Program: Frédéric Chopin Nocturne, Op.27 No.2 Dmitri Shostakovich Prelude and Fugue in D Minor, Op.87 No.24 Claude Debussy Nocturne Nikolai Medtner Sonata-Tragica, Op.39 No.5 Live stream available from: https://www.panoramic-music.com//jenny-lu-night-and-morni/

09.01.2022 Dear Members of the Hawthorn U3A Orchestra, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your performance on Saturday - I was inspired by you! You rose to the occasion, and made many great sounds for the audience - you made me proud! Special thanks to the incandescant Ludmiyla Li for sparkling her magic for us - and what an encore!! Wanted to thank our percussion section; I feel like that I didn't acknowledge you enough on the day. How can we forget the efforts of Nola, Ken and Ruth? Hoped you liked what the orchestra played for you Ruth... it was done with great love. Love, Jules

09.01.2022 The by-now traditional checking of parts on the train journey down to the first rehearsal for 2021. String orchestra only at this stage, but we're hoping to get all the band back together as soon as it's safe.

09.01.2022 A lovely afternoon tea in honour of Ruth, our amazing Orchestra Manager for 23 years. Ruth entered the room to "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" played by our own string quartet.

05.01.2022 Thinking of the strings back in action today. Go well!

02.01.2022 We're back rehearsing, although strings only for now. Too hard playing woodwind with a mask on! It's a small step towards normality in 2021. Hopefully we can do more soon.

02.01.2022 Today U3A Orchestra members were part of this wonderful concert celebrating 150 years of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hawthorn.
