24.01.2022 The Attorney-General’s Department quietly released a Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report identifying dozens of pain points in the enterprise agreement bargaining process. BCG proposed several solutions, from an automatic calculator that would determine whether an agreement meets the better off overall test, to template agreement builder, and review systems. 22.01.2022 Earlier this week the Victorian government announced plans to introduce a scheme providing up to 5 days sick and carer's leave at the national minimum wage for certain casual, and insecure workers. Industrial Relations Minister Christian Porter expressed concerns with the plan, stating that the central problem with the Victorian proposal is it seems to start with a small, government-funded pilot and intends to finish with what would be a massive tax on Victorian businesses"

01.01.2022 Earlier this year, the Federal Court held a truck driver who was engaged on a casual basis was owed accrued annual leave and other entitlements, despite receiving pay loadings for casual work. The decision has given rise to eight class, which are currently underway. Much to the relief of employers, the High Court has granted the employer special leave to challenge the Federal Courts decision.
