25.01.2022 Did you know berries are among the healthiest foods you can eat? They’re delicious, nutritious, and provide a number of impressive health benefits. Here are 3 good reasons to include fresh or organic frozen berries in your diet everyday. Berries are a great source of antioxidants, such as anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and resveratrol. In addition to protecting your cells, these plant compounds may reduce risk of diseases. ... One study showed that blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries have the highest antioxidant activity of commonly consumed fruits, next to pomegranates. In fact, several studies have confirmed that the antioxidants in berries may help reduce oxidative stress. One study in healthy men found that consuming a single, 10-ounce (300-gram) portion of blueberries helped protect their DNA against free radical damage. Berries also improve your blood sugar and insulin levels.Test-tube and human studies suggest that they may protect your cells from high blood sugar levels, help increase insulin sensitivity, and reduce blood sugar and insulin response to high-carb meals. Berries have strong anti inflammatory properties which is very beneficial for your body's defense against infection or injury. Modern lifestyles often lead to excessive, long-term inflammation due to increased stress, inadequate physical activity, and unhealthy food choices. This type of chronic inflammation is believed to contribute to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Studies suggest that the antioxidants in berries may help lower inflammatory markers, in one study in overweight people, those drinking a strawberry beverage with a high-carb, high-fat meal noticed a more significant decrease in certain inflammatory markers than the control group. And finally berries may help protect against cancer! Several antioxidants in berries, including anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and resveratrol, may reduce the risk of cancer. Specifically, animal and human studies suggest that berries may protect against cancer of the esophagus, mouth, breast, and colon. In a study in 20 people with colon cancer, eating 2 ounces (60 grams) of freeze-dried raspberries for 19 weeks improved tumor markers in some participants, though not all. Another test-tube study found that all types of strawberries had strong, protective effects on liver cancer cells, regardless of whether they were high or low in antioxidants. The conclusion? Make sure to eat or add at least 300g of fresh natural berries into your diet for an improved healthy lifestyle. Was this information helpful? 19.01.2022 S L E E P - A better nights sleep is the secret to living a healthier life, mentally and physically. Poor sleep or a lack of really good sleep can have quite a bad effect on your health. In fact, poor sleep has been scientifically linked to infertility, heart disease, poor immune system, diabetes, memory loss, mood swings and more. Research has also found even your life expectancy can be shortened by not getting enough sleep. The good news is that there are there are some n...atural ways in which you can get into that amazingly deep and restful slumber. Here are 3 methods to put to the test! Turn Down The Lights, Turning off the lights and turning on a soft light such as a floor lamp or lighting a candle is ideal. It’s powerful because our bodies release a chemical in our brain called melatonin in response to light or more accurately a lack of it. When you match light reduction with your bed time, you’ll trigger the release of melatonin and the sleepiness starts to kick in. Avoid Device Activity. 30 minutes prior to actually getting into bed, try and eliminate all activity with your phone or tablet. Try and even eliminate watching any TV 30 minutes prior to getting into bed. If you turn down the lights but the light from your high resolution phone or tablet directly is in your face then you’re stopping that melatonin from being released. If you absolutely must be on your phone dial the brightness setting down to the lowest setting possible. Take a Nice Hot Shower or Bath. Multiple University studies prove that when you take a hot shower or bath before bedtime your body, being the amazing thing that it is, actually releases heat and REDUCES your bodies core temperature. It may seem the exact opposite of what you’d think but when you place yourself in hot surroundings, like a hot shower or bath, your body tries to get your core body temperature down. It’s simply trying to keep everything in balance otherwise you risk overheating. The effect of lowering the core temperature also triggers the body to release melatonin, that sleep inducing chemical we explained earlier. 18.01.2022 #Repost @organicburst Who here loves pomegranates? Here is another amazing reason to devour them regularly! Pomegranates have been a symbol of fertility in Zoroastrian and other ancient cultures. No wonder - the structure of the pomegranate (and the look of it opened) has a strong resemblance to a female ovary. - However, it’s not just the look of it - scientists have now discovered that pomegranates contain a form of female hormone oestrogen - called estrone -... that is similar in function and structure to the one found in mammals. It is even believed that pomegranates are the richest source of it found in nature. - A 2004 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology showed that pomegranates can help alleviate hormonal symptoms related to low oestrogen levels. - Low oestrogen is often associated with issues in women such as low energy and fatigue, acne, abnormal facial and body hair, as well as hot flushes and other symptoms of perimenopause. - More good news is that unlike synthetic sources and some bioidentical sources of oestrogen - pomegranate does not have any of their potentially carcinogenic effects. On the contrary - it acts as an adaptogen, enhancing the levels of estrogen when it is low but blocking stronger estrogens if levels are excessive. - According to GreenMedInfo: - In an August 2011 study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, pomegranate extract was compared to the drugs Tamoxifen (T) and Estradiol (E) and was shown to prevent activity associated with estrogen-dependent cancer promotion, without increasing the weight of the uterus, a well known indicator of the potential carcinogenicity of (T) and (E). - How to enjoy it? Eat the seeds whole (yep, they can be eaten whole!) Drink it as a juice - but make sure it’s pure and without the additives For a powerful anti-ageing and antioxidant drink blend pomegranate juice with 1 tsp @OrganicBurst Acai powder (you can use the handy Aerolatte electric whisk sold on our website) - What are your favourite ways to eat a pomegranate? 18.01.2022 While bolstering your immunity is easier said than done, below we share resources and how you can implement these strategies to boost your immune system. Good sleep! Sleep and immunity are closely tied. In fact, inadequate or poor quality sleep is linked to a higher susceptibility to sickness. In a study in 164 healthy adults, those who slept fewer than 6 hours were more likely to catch a cold than those who slept 6 hours or more each night. Getting adequate rest may streng...then your natural immunity. Also, you may sleep more when sick to allow your immune system to better fight the illness. Adults should aim to get 7 or more hours of sleep each night, while teens need 810 hours. Eat greens and fruit. Vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that may give you an upper hand against harmful pathogens. The antioxidants in these foods help decrease inflammation by combatting unstable compounds called free radicals. A robust gut microbiome can improve your immunity and keep harmful pathogens from entering your body via your digestive tract. Eat more healthy fats, Healthy fats, like those found in olive oil and salmon, may boost your body’s immune response to pathogens by decreasing inflammation. Fermented foods are rich in beneficial bacteria called probiotics, which populate your digestive tract. Research suggests that a flourishing network of gut bacteria can help your immune cells differentiate between normal, healthy cells and harmful invader organisms. Dehydration can cause headaches and hinder your physical performance, focus, mood, digestion, and heart and kidney function. To prevent dehydration, you should drink enough fluid daily to make your urine pale yellow. Water (preferably filtered) is recommended because it’s free of chemicals, additives, and sugar. Relieving stress and anxiety is key to immune health. Long-term stress promotes imbalances in immune cell function. In particular, prolonged psychological stress can suppress the immune response. Manage your stress with meditation, exercise, soft music, yoga, and other mindfulness practices. You may also benefit from seeing a licensed counselor or therapist, whether virtually or in person. 14.01.2022 We love these guys! #Repost @organicburst How cool is this hack - discovered by the College of Chemical Sciences in Sri Lanka and presented at the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS)! -... White rice tends to be much lower in arsenic (toxic heavy metal) and nutrient-blocking phytates than brown rice! And it’s so versatile too! However it’s high in digestible starches that are quickly converted into glucose - giving you a sugar spike (followed by a crash afterwards). Excess glucose is also turned into fat, adding to those extra kilos on the waist. It can also feed the bad gut bacteria, yeasts and molds ( yuk!) in the intestines. - Researches found that simply cooking your white rice with coconut oil converts that digestible starch in rice into a new variety - resistant starch (RS) - a much healthier type of starch, that has been researched for numerous health benefits . - RS is an indigestible type for our bodies and does not cause a sugar spike. Instead - RS is food for our good gut bacteria - a prebiotic food, contributing to a balanced gut flora. - Studies have also linked RS to enhanced insulin sensitivity, weight loss, decreased fat storage and reduced appetite. - Here’s how you can do this (based on the study): Add 2 tsp (or more) coconut oil to boiling water. Add a cup of white rice (we choose organic to reduce the chances of arsenic contamination). Boil for 20 min or until ready. To boost the benefits - refrigerate the rice for 12 hours in the fridge right after boiling and reheat it the next day. This boosts the content of RS by 10 times (reheating does not reduce it either). - This doesn’t mean that you can load on white rice three times a day folks as it will still raise the blood sugar. - Tip: add 2-3 tbsp @OrganicBurst Chia into the pan at the end of your cooking for more energy, better digestion and sugar-busting benefits. - Have you tried this hack already? Which rice do you choose and how do you cook it? Comment below! - #OBTip #Organicinnovation #collaboration #healthiswealth #Coconutrice #Guthealth See more

By eating healthy you will find your mental clarity, metabolism, appetite and energy levels are far more better compared to fuelling your body with cheap options such as fast food, fried food, refined sugar and food that contain preservatives and GMO's (genetically modified organisms) which can lead to disease, cancers, tumours and a sluggish unmotivated feeling everyday, eventually leading to excess body fat and water retention on your physique. 03.01.2022 #Repost @organicburst Did you know that it’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s the overproduction of insulin? We produce this metabolic hormone in order to reduce high levels of blood sugar, it works by taking sugars and storing them safely away in our fat cells, particularly around the tummy zone (this is because insulin is produced by cells on the pancreas). - What causes high blood sugar?... Refined or ‘fast’ carbohydrates like white flour products such as bread, pasta, pastries as well as rice are quickly broken down by our digestion into sugars and released into the blood stream. Added sugars in sweet foods, sauces, breakfast cereals, energy drinks, sodas & processed fruit juices. Coffee caffeine has the effect of releasing stored sugars into the blood, that’s why we get a temporary rush of energy. - A 2009 study published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, found that cinnamon reduced sugar levels in the blood after eating. So, by helping keep a tighter control over the levels of sugar in the blood stream, Cinnamon can reduce our need for so much insulin. - But what about that layer of fat? In a 2017 study, a group of patients took 3g (1tsp) cinnamon per day for 16 weeks and showed significant decreases in waist circumference and BMI compared with the placebo group (Source: Lipids in Health and Disease). Winner! - Remember, not all Cinnamon is created equal: Ours is the heirloom cultivar variety, known as Zeylanicum or True Cinnamon, from Sri Lanka. It is not Cassia, which is commonly sold as Cinnamon, but is much cheaper and lower quality. Tested free from nasties like heavy metals, toxins, harmful bacteria colonies, yeast and mold and pesticides. Phew! - How to & other helpers: Have 1 serving (1tsp or 4 capsules) of our Cinnamon daily with breakfast, & an extra serving before eating any large/carby/sugary meal or snack. You can even add to your coffee to reduce the effects of caffeine on your blood sugar. Spirulina is proven to increase insulin sensitivity. Have 1-2 servings 1 hour before meals. - Awesome post & knowledge brought to you by @organicburst See more

02.01.2022 Although there is currently, no studies that have tested the effects of asparagus on weight loss it has a number of properties that could potentially help you lose weight. First, it’s very low in calories, with only 20 calories in half a cup. This means you can eat a lot of asparagus without taking in a lot of calories. Furthermore, it’s about 94% water. Research suggests that consuming low-calorie, water-rich foods is associated with weight loss. Asparagus is also rich in fi...ber, which has been linked to lower body weight and weight loss. Dietary fiber is essential for good digestive health. Just half a cup of asparagus contains 1.8 grams of fiber, which is 7% of your daily needs. Studies suggest that a diet high in fiber-rich fruits and vegetables may help reduce the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. Asparagus is particularly high in insoluble fiber, which adds bulk to stool and supports regular bowel movements. It also contains a small amount of soluble fiber, which dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract. Soluble fiber feeds the friendly bacteria in the gut, such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus. Increasing the number of these beneficial bacteria plays a role in strengthening the immune system and producing essential nutrients like vitamins B12 and K2. Eating asparagus as part of a fiber-rich diet is an excellent way to help meet your fiber needs and keep your digestive system healthy. Asparagus as a natural diuretic? Asparagus can act as a natural diuretic, according to a 2010 study published in the West Indian Medical Journal. This can help rid the body of excess salt and fluid, making it especially good for people suffering from edema and high blood pressure. It also helps flush out toxins in kidneys and may prevent kidney stones. Did you find these benefits useful?
