24.01.2022 Like many ethical businesses, we are impacted by lockdown circumstances brought on by the current pandemic. Our beautiful Winter 2020 sleepwear collection is delayed in India. It will hopefully arrive soon but will miss the peak Winter season. The real sadness is for people in India affected by the spike in the virus and a flailing health system. Global clothing manufacturing is a complicated industry at the best of times, with countless variables, but - right now, in t...he midst of this pandemic, many textile factories are demanding that certain fast fashion global brands are held to account as many walk away from their orders and refuse to pay - even if the clothes are already made and ready to be shipped! As an ethical business that meets strict social and environmental standards through GOTS certifications, Organic Nights will honour its contracts to ensure the seamstresses and mill workers in India who make Organic Nights sleepwear are paid their fair and regular wages. If you’re interested to learn more, this excerpt from a Bloomberg article, published in April, describes the destitution many workers in the garment industry in developing countries are facing : More than 1,100 of the 7,000 textile factories in Bangladesh reported cancelled orders worth $3.17 billion in export sales as of April 20, affecting 2.27 million workers... Almost all the brands and retailers had declared force majeure, canceling orders outright even with fabric on the cutting table... The cancellations sent shockwaves through the banking industry, and now textile companies can’t get credit. We are literally pleading with all brands to come up with some plan for a relief, that would involve paying for in-progress projects and other orders, Huq said, who made a plea in a video posted on the website of the International Cotton Advisory Committee in Washington. ~ Frightening stuff.... Let’s make kind choices. See more

15.01.2022 What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family. ~ Mother Teresa.

02.01.2022 We are reading a beautiful book by Anat Baniel, called Kids Beyond Limits. Do you know it? It’s a world-renowned book and method for mindful living with nine ‘Essentials’ that help children’s brains to ‘wake up’ and learn to their potential. There are gems we can apply to bedtime rituals, such as the ‘Slow’ practice. Consider how you touch your child at bedtime. Simple things like helping them to slip into their pyjamas at a slow pace with a soft touch, finishing with a g...entle cuddle (even if their hug is fierce!) can help signal to their brain that this is ‘calming down’ time. Even while reading books ~ turning the pages slowly and softly, reading with a quiet tone helps a child’s brain to register a sense of peace and care. Giving them the space and precious quiet time to play a puzzle, tinker with their LEGO or draw before bedtime - without rushing them or moving them along - is another way young brains learn that bedtime is nourishing and to be trusted. Many children find a second wind just before bedtime as they come into their bodies once the noise of the day falls away. This is natural. Just be the calm in the room and they’ll eventually learn to follow your loving, soothing energy. Easier said than done but love to hear if this is something that you’ve explored or considered.
