20.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what the different modes on your air con remote mean? Coming up to Summer, the best mode to have it set on is cooling which is usually represented by a snow flake symbol. If your air con is clean, the most energy efficient temperature to set it at is around 25 - 27. To heat in Winter it's best to have it set on heating which is represented by a sun symbol with a temperature setting of around 18 - 20 being the most energy efficient. The dry mode whi...ch has a symbol of a water droplet works as a dehumidifier and simply returns dry air into the room. The fan mode has a fan symbol, it simply uses the fan without heating or cooling the room. Auto mode switches between cooling and heating the room automatically based on the thermostats set temperature, auto mode has the potential to use more power than the other modes. To increase or decrease the fans output, you can press the up or down arrows on the fan button, you can also set the fan to auto mode which will increase and decrease the fans output automatically based on the set temperature. If your remote has an auto-x button, this is great for drying out your air con after cooling ( as cooling mode creates condensation within the head unit ), which will reduce the rate of mould growth inside the head unit. When you are finished using the cooling mode just press the auto-x button which will run in fan mode for a little while to dry out any moisture in your air con then it will switch off automatically. A dirty air conditioner will struggle to operate at it's optimum performance which can use up to 28% more in power, can cause a break down by putting unnecessary strain on internal components due to blockages in the evaporator coil which will affect cooling and air flow and barrel fan blockages which will reduce air flow/fan output, can emit bad od...ours, can cause blockages in the drain pipe leading to water leaks from the head unit and most importantly contaminate the air that you and your family are breathing. 10.01.2022 There are a few different things that can cause a bad odour to be emitted from your wall split system air conditioner. Besides the obvious and most common being mould growth inside the head unit, another one I come across alot is oil residue from oil diffusers. The vapor from an oil diffuser is drawn into the the head unit when it's running and coats the internal components. After a while the build up of oil residue combined with other contaminants inside your air con will ...emit quite a nasty smell.
