23.01.2022 Introducing Nick Kirkup. Nick will be joining the Toowoomba Choral Society Choir and Organics Arts Inc. as our featured Tenor Soloist in the upcoming performanc...e of the Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio. Nick Kirkup has been an active performer in and around Queensland since 2005. During this time, he appeared in many roles for the USQ Opera Studio and the Brisbane Conservatorium Opera Studio. In 2010 Nick was the recipient of the prestigious $20 000 Joyce Campbell Lloyd scholarship which allowed him to undertake further study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. On the Concert Stage Nick has been the tenor soloist on numerous occasions for The Sunshine Coast Chorale Society, Blackstone Ipswich Cambrian Choir, Ipswich Orpheus Chorale, Queensland University Musical Society, The Lucian Singers, The Noosa Chorale, Toowoomba Choral Society, Toowoomba Philharmonic Society and The Ipswich City Symphony Orchestra. He was also the Tenor soloist on the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's 2016 State tour of Handel's Messiah. Nick joined the Opera Queensland chorus in 2016 and has appeared in numerous productions for the company as well as working as a facilitator for Opera Qld’s community workshops. In 2018 he covered the role of Reverend Horace Adams in Peter Grimes for the Brisbane Festival. In 2019 he covered the role of Spoletta in Tosca and has been featured in many other performances by the company. 20.01.2022 Introducing Frances O’Sullivan. Frances will be joining the Toowoomba Choral Society Choir and Organics Arts Inc. as our featured Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in the u...pcoming performance of the Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio. Frances O’Sullivan began singing at an early age also undertaking lessons in flute, piano and guitar. From 1994 to 1998, Frances was a student of Margareta Elkins majoring in classical voice studies at The Conservatorium of Music which saw performances in many operas, masterclasses and concerts. In 1999, Frances moved to London where she undertook the Head of Music position at Bishop Challoner Girls College as well as singing for English National Opera. Frances returned with her husband to Ipswich in 2003 where she undertook a teaching position at St Edmund’s College. Frances remains at St Edmund’s where she is the conductor of choirs and various instrumental ensembles as well as a teacher of Music and Theology. 13.01.2022 Introducing Hayley Sugars. Hayley will be joining the Toowoomba Choral Society Choir and Organics Arts Inc. as our featured Alto Soloist in the upcoming perform...ance of the Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio. Hayley Sugars commenced her vocal training at the University of Southern Queensland and subsequently undertook postgraduate study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. During her studies, Hayley was the recipient of many academic and performance awards including the Elizabeth Muir Postgraduate Scholarship (QCM) and the Joyce Campbell Lloyd Overseas Scholarship (USQ). Hayley was a member of the Opera Queensland Young and Developing Artist Program (2007-2009) and has enjoyed success in national competitions, including winning the German-Australian Opera Grant in 2010. Since returning to Australia, Hayley has performed to great acclaim for Opera Queensland, New Zealand Opera and The Brisbane Festival. Most recently, she appeared with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra and the Toowoomba Choral Society in The Armed Man. 10.01.2022 Introducing Katie Stenzel. Katie will be joining the Toowoomba Choral Society and Organic Arts Inc. as our featured Soprano Soloist in the upcoming performance ...of the Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio. Katie Stenzel is a dynamic, coloratura soprano. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Queensland University of Technology and went on to complete her Masters of Music Studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Katie made her principal mainstage debut with Opera Queensland as Rosina for both the Brisbane season and regional Queensland tour of The Barber of Seville and has appeared as a principal artist at various Opera Queensland events such as Sensory at GOMA, Cloud Song, and Opera in the Vineyard at Ballandean.
