25.01.2022 This is a great initiative. Choose to refuse .... bring your own packaging or grab one of our many cardboard boxes which we have offered to our customers for over 17 years. For those who are just starting, come in and speak to one of our naturopaths. They all practise recycling and are more than happy to offer suggestions. If you are already refusing, please share your solutions below.

23.01.2022 With restrictions easing up, our wholesalers are starting to receive containers filled with our favourite European brands. Yesterday, I was extremely happy to check in to stock some of my favourite ranges, including Biona Organic & Fish4Ever. Approximately 50 % of these ranges have now landed, and more expected in the next few weeks. Will keep you posted as they arrive.

20.01.2022 Just a reminder that Organic Plus will be closed all day on Saturday the 15th of May to attend a family funeral. The gates will be open from 9am to 2pm providing access to alkafill machines #2 and #3. Spare bottle caps will be available in tubs next to the machines. If you are unable to come in today to organise credit, you can ring us any time up until 6pm to top up your token via credit card payment. We will be back on board at 9am on Monday the 17th.

One of my favourite recipes is tuna pasta bake, which is a great way to use up any veggies in your fridge or freezer. The main thing that makes it bearable (apart from hot chocolate & organic marshmallows), is the fabulous range of certified organic winter vegetables in season now, such as carrots (orange & purple), sweet potatoes, parsnips, swedes, jerusalem artichokes, brussel sprouts, onions, leeks, garlic, celery, cauliflower (white & purple), pumpkins, combinations of which create a perfect base for soups, pies & roasts. Nowadays, most non org...anic produce is grown in unnatural conditions so they’re available all year round. Often, the produce you see on supermarket shelves is less fresh than you might think, because it comes from storage or has been cured in some way to last longer. 11.01.2022 We would like to thank everyone who has sent their regards to Tiffany (our much loved mother, mother-in-law and grandma) over the last year during her struggle with cancer. She passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, the 2nd of May, surrounded by all of her family. Natasha and I will miss her company on our travels and we are extremely grateful for the memories. Tiffany accompanied us multiple times on our trips to Sydney, Manly Beach, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore, Los Angeles and her favourite San Diego.

My heritage is Greek, so I was pleased to read their article shared below about the island of Ikaria, named after the man who flew too close to the sun ... but that's another story. This story is about how to live a long and happy life.

03.01.2022 70% of seafood consumed in Australia is imported. If you care about the oceans, sustainable fishing & supply for future generations, have a read of this interesting SBS article. If you like seafood, Organic Plus has on offer in our freezers, a great range of sustainable, wild caught, Australian seafood. We also stock Canadian wild caught salmon, and Irish organically farmed salmon. Eating fish rich in omega 3 fatty acids and other nutrients appears to provide more heart healthy benefits than using supplements. Non fish food options include flaxseeds and flaxseed oil. However, if you are unable to tolerate the "fishy" taste of seafood or flaxseeds, do consider taking supplements containing fish oil or flaxseed oil. Heart health really is important.

02.01.2022 Pasta with zucchini, ricotta and pine nuts ... Yum! 500 grams linguini or spaghetti cup (60ml) olive oil 3 cloves garlic, chopped finely 5 medium zucchini (600g), grated coarsely... 200 grams ricotta 1 cup coarsely chopped fresh mint 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon rind 2 tablespoons lemon juice cup (40g) pine nuts, roasted, chopped zest of 1 lemon, plus extra to serve mint leaves, extra, to serve Method 1 Cook the pasta in a large saucepan of boiling salted water for 8 minutes or until just tender. 2 Meanwhile, heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat; cook garlic and zucchini, stirring, for 2 minutes or until soft. Stir in ricotta until just heated through. 3 Drain pasta, reserving cup (60ml) of the cooking water. Return pasta to pan. Toss the zucchini mixture, mint, rind, juice and pasta cooking water through the hot pasta. Season to taste. Serve pasta topped with nuts, extra lemon zest and extra mint leaves.I See more
