25.01.2022 Decluttering is one of the major challenges commonly faced when downsizing. For many, the prospect of reviewing a lifetime's worth of belongings is daunting, overwhelming and often paralyzing. If this sounds familiar, join us as for a Downsizing Information session on Tuesday 25th Feb at The Aerie, the newest retirement living village in Narrabundah where I run through some ways to simplify the decluttering process. RSVP by Thursday 20 February to Charissa on... 0438 254 043 or email [email protected] See more

24.01.2022 With all the overwhelm and change over the last couple of months with COVID-19, I had forgotten to share some of my accolades. I’m really excited to announce that earlier this year, I was awarded the Best of Houzz 2020 award for Service on Houzz, the leading platform for home renovation and design for the 4th consecutive year. Thank you to Houzz and all of my beautiful clients and for all your 5-star reviews. I would not have been awarded this award without your support. Thank you for letting me into your lives to organise your homes. @ Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

22.01.2022 I am thrilled to be nominated for the Telstra Women’s Business Awards for 2020. Regardless of whether I move through to the next phase, it is reward enough that multiple people thought highly enough of me and my business to nominate me. Such a surprise and honour.

22.01.2022 I love problem-solving and working with clients to turn an awkward space into a functional and organised space. Here's an article that I wrote for Howards Storage World Australia on this exact topic. I hope that you find it useful. Big thanks to the Institute of Professional Organisers (IOPO International) for sharing.

21.01.2022 Looking forward to meeting you all this weekend at The ShowRoom - Canberra's Creative Home Show. 2&3 March, EPIC

20.01.2022 THE SILVER LININGS OF COVID-19. As I have had to postpone all in-home organising sessions due to COVID-19 restrictions, I thought it would be the perfect time to be a little more studious than usual. I am proud to say that I have successfully completed the Introduction to Psychology from Yale University offered through Coursera. I found the course to be a really good refresher on what I learned at university some 20 years ago through the lense of a Social Psychologist, rat...her than a Communications Specialist. The additional study into some of the more common mental illnesses (specifically mood disorders and anxiety disorders) and insight into Positive Psychology has equipped me with even more knowledge to support my clients. The course took a lot of time, dedication and commitment and not something that I would have been able to achieve quite so quickly without the forced slow down bought about by COVID-19. So, there’s my silver lining! I hope you have managed to find one too. Please stay safe and healthy.

This certificate strengthened my knowledge in residential organising and included study in various aspects in the field of professional organising including ADHD in the family, organising solutions for overwhelmed families, chronic disorganisation, the transference of organising and productivity skills and ways to eliminate excess. All part of my commitment to continued professional development.

16.01.2022 Here is a very smart initiative designed to put money directly in the pockets of the people, communities and businesses who’s livelihood has been devastated by the bush fires. Created by South Coast locals, Grace McBride (my husband’s cousin)and and her friend Turia Pitt, #spendwiththem is a way to support small business long after the fire risk is over. There is an ever growing list of products you can buy, so get behind these communities if you can. Here’s a little backg...round behind the initiative from Grace. It’s been an intense few weeks to say the least. Fires have devastated communities across Australia. And once this is all over, it won’t be over for the people and businesses in fire-ravaged towns, especially ones like ours who rely on the tourism dollar to survive. So, Turia Pitt and I have created @spendwiththem - a way to put money directly in the pockets of the people and communities who need it the most. If you want to buy something (now, or in the future), check out https://instagram.com/spendwiththem We’ll be featuring products you can buy online from businesses in fire-affected towns across Australia. Long after the threat is over and the choppers stop flying overhead. Long after summer ends and the wail of sirens ceases in the streets. They’ll need you. So, help them rebuild. Make them feel heard. Spend with them. #spendwiththem An initiative from Grace McBride & Turia Pitt

15.01.2022 Do you have a multi-purpose laundry? In this article that I have written for Howards Storage World Australia, I explore 4 common types of double duty laundries. With careful planning of the layout and organisation, these double duty laundries can be both multi-functional and a beautiful space that you actually want to spend time in. Thank you to IOPO International and Howards Storage World Australia. Enjoy the read!

15.01.2022 Looking forward to meeting a lot of smiling faces at the Canberra Home Building and Renovation Expo. Hope to see you there!

14.01.2022 My children’s primary school are collecting school supplies for schools in our neighboring South Coast and Snowy Mountain regions impacted by the bushfires. Items sought and drop off details are listed below. Thank you Holy Family Primary, Gowrie for your generosity and sense of community.

14.01.2022 A goal without a plan is just a wish. Something I often discuss with clients during an organising session is the importance of understanding your true goal and the steps that they will take to achieve that goal. #organisingbee #residentialdecluttering #canberraprofessionalorganiser #organiser #professionalorganisercanberra #organisingcanberra #clutterfree #organisecanberra #organisinglife #familyorganisation #homeorganisercanberra #homeorganiser #professionalorganising #organising #organised #getorganised #canberralocals #canberramums #declutter #goal #quote

11.01.2022 I am so honoured to have been awarded the Best of Houzz Award 2019 for service for the third consecutive year. This award means more to me than you could imagine. When people ask me why I do what I do, my answer is always because of my amazing clients (plus, my love for organisation). My clients needs are so super important to me and being part of a positive and meaningful change in their lives more than outweighs and difficult or exhausting days. 09.01.2022 I did a major internal thank you to media guru Catherine McGrath Media yesterday. As I was sitting down at my computer to prepare a talk for the Woden Rotary Club, I was at a road block, so many ideas and concepts that I wanted to share, yet I was having difficulty getting it all out of my head and onto paper. It wasn’t until I recalled Catherine’s framework for structuring a public talk that she taught me at a recent media training session hosted by the lovely ladies at The ShowRoom Canberra that everything fell into place. Within 15 mins, I had my thoughts in place, outline for my talk and the key points written! Thank you Catherine. You were a lifesaver today!

09.01.2022 Excitement is building at The ShowRoom Canberra Creative Home Show Exhibition Park in Canberra. I’m loving the beautiful art by visual artist Alison Dumbleton. Definitely worthwhile dropping by to check out Alison’s work. We are right near the kids cardboard box play area.

08.01.2022 The truth is that being busy doesn’t mean we are being productive or effective in terms of making positive changes in our lives. In fact, it can mean the opposite - that time may be wasted on the unimportant or little-value tasks, which takes positive energy and joys away from us. - Qun Li, Certified Productive Environment Specialist Masters from Tokyo, Japan.

07.01.2022 I’m still recovering from a massive weekend @theshowroomcanberra Creative Home Show. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello at The Organising Bee stand and to those of you who came to listen to me speak. Congratulations to the event organisers Mel and Kate for for a fabulous event. Stellar job ladies!

06.01.2022 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE INDUSTRY THAT I WORK IN! It's full of kind, caring and empathetic people, who not only care about the needs of their clients but the success of other businesses (often competitors) in the organising industry. Thank you to Angela from Creating Order from Chaos who is based in Melbourne for supporting and promoting my business.

06.01.2022 I have been supporting clients with Multiple Sclerosis recently which has prompted me to understand more about disease. I’ve recently completed a very informative course developed by the Menzies Institute for Medical Research at the University of Tasmania in partnership with Multiple Sclerosis Limited entitled Understanding Multiple Sclerosis - MS. I’d like to thank Dr Suzi Claflin and the team of Academics who pulled together this valuable course. I’d highly recommend for anyone interested in finding out more about MS. The course is free and the next round begins in Sept 2020 - you can register your interest here: https://ms.mooc.utas.edu.au/course/4019 #understandingMS

04.01.2022 I am very pleased about this roll out. I know it will prove valuable for many of my clients.

04.01.2022 Not sure what you can recycle here in Canberra? The A-Z Recyclopaedia is a great resource.

03.01.2022 I went on a recycling tour of ACT Recycling Discovery Hub last month to see how we in Canberra deal with our recycling. The machinery they use is absolutely fascinating. If you are ever unsure of if an item is recyclable, this Recyclopedia is a very handy tool to refer to. Bear in mind that different States in Australia have different guidelines for recycling.

02.01.2022 My friends at The Markets Wanniassa are the Southside coordination point for Bushfire Victims Clothes Off Our Backs Appeal and a a drop off point for #slabsforheroes I know many of my clients have been decluttering their homes and wardrobes and have many of the items on the list that they are seeking. 01.01.2022 If you have recently decluttered bed linen or towels and not sure where to take them, here’s another alternative to the vet or animal shelter from Sheridan - the Sheridan Recycling Program. Through our Recycling Program, we invite you to return any branded old quilt covers, sheets and towels to Sheridan Boutique and Studio stores. In return we are offering 10% off the next purchase for those of you who donate to this cause. Of course there are T&C’s - but sounds like a great initiative. Let’s hope the trial gets off the ground!

01.01.2022 Just a reminder that I will be on stage at 3:30pm tomorrow discussing steps to clutter-free living at the Creative Home Show hosted by The ShowRoom Canberra.
