14.02.2022 Site visit to this gem today & a very exciting future lays just around the corner for it. When new meets old is when the magic happens!

10.02.2022 Polychromatic brickwork: an easy way to bring detail/ visual appeal to a building that has been in & out of fashion so many times that it’s easy to lose count. First emerged with Gothic Revival Archi in the 1860s. Today frequently found under renders of renovated homes.

08.02.2022 Facadism.......love it or loath it? I figure it’s better than complete demolition but it leaves such a disconnect between the interior & exterior.....form follows function & all that. Gives the indication that only the facade has anything of heritage value worth retaining which definitely is not true. With more thought given the new & old architecture has the potential to be better integrated for an improved solution rather than just a historic shell & a new build inserted behind.

27.01.2022 To adapt/reuse v demolish/build- an intriguing debate. I know which takes the greater skill set but it definitely is a fine balance.

24.01.2022 Possibly a run down apartment block to some but there is an intriguing play between random vertical & horizontal elements here that has always caught my eye. Architects: Oldham & Lees. 1937

11.01.2022 This doesn’t just apply to our phones. Look up at what is happening in the built environment above street level - there’s some pretty cool stuff going on.
