It is easy to continue putting off the process of writing or updating a Will, but it is important to consider and plan for prior to anything unexpected happening. A current and valid Will is the best way to ensure that those you love most, and care for, are adequately provided for once you pass away. It is one of the most important documents you will ever sign. ... Poorly written Wills can result in months, or potentially years of dispute after your passing. 24.01.2022 There is no doubt that the events of 2020 and the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has changed the way in which we conduct our daily lives. It is a particularly concerning time for parents and families who either have been involved in proceedings in the Federal Circuit Court/Family Court of Australia or remain involved in proceedings to assist in determining children’s arrangements and the time in which their children are to spend in each parent’s care. At Orman Solicitors, ma...ny of our clients are dealing with complex parenting disputes, vast geographical distances, and entrenched family or parental conflict, and we are working to assist them through these exceptional circumstances. This includes Court intervention, negotiation, and dispute resolution services. Being a regional firm, we have already adjusted to telephone hearings before the Court which are now the predominant way in which the Court will conduct hearings in light of COVID-19 face-to-face restrictions as well as being able to lodge urgent applications in circumstances that require it. We also have mediators who can assist by way of telephone mediation services or Zoom/Videoconferencing. Orman Solicitors can also provide advice as to compliance with Court Orders and guide you through how the Court views compliance with orders in special circumstances and the new barriers we are all facing given COVID-19 restrictions and directions from the Government and Health advisors. 21.01.2022 Congratulations to Kat van der Wijngaart! Kat recently completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and is awaiting formal admission to practice. On Friday the Wagga Court’s held a special sitting, we believe the first of its kind, to welcome Kat and two other graduates to the legal profession. District Court Judge Lerve, Local Court Magistrate Halburd and Registrar Fernon hosted the event as the graduates cannot attend their admission ceremonies in Sydney due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

17.01.2022 FAQ: Why invest in a professionally prepared Will over a DIY Will? Your Will is a very important legal document that should be trusted to a professional. Like you wouldn't perform your own heart surgery or take your own wedding photos, some jobs are best left to the experts!... Whilst DIY Will kits have been on the market for many years, often they are a one-size-fits-all approach that may not be right your unique situation. Trusting your Will to a professional ensures that it is legally valid, and includes all relevant matters for consideration. You can often package your Will with a Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship, for a fixed price that may be more affordable than you expect. If you're considering writing your own Will, first sit down with us for a free initial appointment and discuss your needs. www.ormansolicitors.com

17.01.2022 Did you know that we offer telephone mediation services? Although we are forced to operate differently now in light of the COVID-19 restrictions, we can still offer you assistance by way of telephone mediation services or Zoom/Videoconferencing. At Orman Solicitors we have been representing clients in mediation for over 20 years often with great results where clients have been able to avoid the filing before a Court and achieving a resolution faster and with less cost.... 11.01.2022 The benefits of Mediation: 1. Efficient Mediation is likely to produce a quicker outcome than the more formal processes of arbitration or litigation. It should therefore be considered as early as possible after a dispute has arisen. 2. Affordable mediation is often more cost effective than litigation as it requires less preparation. 3. Manageable Mediation is particularly appropriate where a dispute involves complex issues and/or multiple parties. 4. Empowering Mediat...ion enables parties to have an input into and to control the process, allowing for a more tailored outcome. 5. Confidential Information disclosed during the mediation cannot be used later in any court proceedings. Mediation is also useful where privacy and confidentiality are important. Parties are able to preserve these rights without public disclosure. This often leads to more satisfactory outcomes for both parties. Orman Solicitors has many years of experience as a mediator and participating on behalf of clients in complex financial and children’s matters.
