25.01.2022 What a terrific morning to watch a game of cricket. The sausages are sizzling to feed the hungry hitters of the Alberton Orneau Cricket Club as they chase down the opposition. https://www.facebook.com/Alberton-Ormeau-Junior-Cricket-Club-198840860138102/

25.01.2022 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: All meetings, events, bbq's etc are immediately suspended until further notice. Whilst the coronavirus may not be a great concern for some it is for our most vulnerable at risk members and their family. The risk is too great for us to inadvertently harm those we care most for. If anyone requires assistance at this time please do not hesitate to contact a member. The latest government advice can be found here: https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for

19.01.2022 Hello everyone after discussion we are going to cancel Saturdays BBQ and concentrate on the Bunnings cake days and the Sunday event. The heat was quite strong last Saturday and seriously affected our volunteers and this Saturday is predicted in the 30's again. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We've been fortunate to do what we've been able to do this year given Covid and will get into 2021 refreshed and recharged. As such our last event will be this Sunday assisting with Steps 4208 and other organisations for the 1st Annual Santa Ride. We'll be there cooking breakfast outside Genfit on Lahrs Rd so if your hungry pop in and grab a bite and checkout the motorbike Santa's before they ride. Please show your support and we wish you a very Merry Christmas. https://www.facebook.com/events/400915591035925

19.01.2022 No cake sales today or tomorrow, our lions Mary and Barry are taking a much needed rest but hope to be back next week

18.01.2022 Due to current Covid19 restrictions the Ormeau Lions Club will not be having our Saturday morning BBQ tomorrow. This is to ensure safety and well being of both our members and our community. At this time we must all work together and be reasonable and practical to ensure the health and well being of our fellow community members. We will continue to support our local community in every little way we can and hope to return in a fortnight depending on circumstance. Thank you and stay safe.

18.01.2022 We're back part II. This Saturday the 18th July we will again be cooking up some delicious bacon and egg rolls and sausage sanga's outside the doctors near Drakes Ormeau. Covid has kept us from connecting with our community but now hopefully we can get back to it and get cooking, and some sunshine. See you there Ormeau from 715am onwards.

As the restrictions relax we look forward to getting back out into the community soon. #ormeaulions https://www.facebook.com/12BasketsOutreach/

16.01.2022 Well done to Lions Mary and Barry for their hard work and support of the driver reviver program. 28 years strong. Here with the honourable @bertvanmanen and @scottbuchholzmp with an announcement for much needed funding for signage. Fighting fatigue, one of the fatal 5, one cuppa at a time.

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Clough I.T. Solutions would like to do our part to help those affected by the recent and ongoing fires. We are looking for donations of old laptop...s please... preferably working, but if not that is ok. These laptops will be securely refurbished and made available to those requiring them through GIVIT, for the victims of the recent and ongoing fires and others in need. The laptops will go a long way to help those who have lost everything to access online resources vital to assist them with things like insurance claims, banking, ordering new identity documents and the like, and not to mention communicate with friends and family during these trying times. The laptops received will have all data securely wiped (we can back it up for you too if you need!). The laptops will be repaired if need be and where possible, before having an operating system installed and a full service and clean. They will then be either donated to someone already requiring a laptop or added as an available laptop ready for when it is needed by someone in need via the GIVIT platform. You can find out more about GIVIT by visiting their website: http://www.givit.org.au/ Please contact David Clough at Clough I.T. Solutions by message via our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/cloughit to arrange a time to drop off your laptops to us. I can also offer a local area pickup service if this is easier for you. Thanks for your support and please share this with your local friends and family! David @ Clough I.T. Solutions PS: If there is a local business that would be happy to be a drop off point for laptops during business hours please contact me as this would be a massive help. Thank you :)

05.01.2022 RIP Boyd These are words I don't enjoy writing however the information is well earned. I first met Boyd in December 2004 when he approached me about transferring to Ormeau Lions. At that time he let me know he had been and still is, checking out other clubs so he can be comfortable with the club he chose.... Yes, we were the winners in more ways than one. The history of Boyd goes back to joining Lions in Pennant Hills NSW in l965 to 2020. From that time he has held, I believe, most positions possible including District Governor. We were so blessed to have had him in our club as he was a great wealth of knowledge for anything when we needed a ruling of decision. He was ever willing to help where he could and beyond. No-one could sell more raffle tickets. I have seen people go straight to Boyd to purchase tickets not knowing what the prize was. He was a smooth talker and ever a gentleman with a caring and loving personality. Boyd once told me that the Lions Club was his life and could never imagine himself not being a member of such an organization. This is but a snippet of my friendship with Boyd who I, Mary and all our club members both past and present will miss greatly. May God Bless You and Keep you Boyd. (Barry and Mary McGrath) .......................................................... Boyd's funeral will be held on 14/02/2020 at 11:45 am at Great Southern Memorial Park, Remembrance Garden Chapel, 1774-1794 Mount Cotton Road, Carbrook, Qld, 4130
