24.01.2022 The Committee is absolutely thrilled to announce that GREG HOLMAN has been awarded the 2020 Club Person of the Year (the Neil Le Page Memorial Trophy). His contribution this season can be summed up in two words ...... COURAGE - with his own health issues, Greg was the last one we really wanted to assume the role of the Club’s COVID Safety Officer - but he would have none of that, and insisted he had the time and the administration skills to fulfill this incredibly important ...function this season. COMMITMENT - his attention to detail, his willingness to assist anyone, his manner, his sincerity, his genuine care for the players, and his record of attendance at training, makes him an outstanding footy operations manager. Pics from the past 6 months ...... at the VAFA Conference in Feb ..... cooking brekky during the pre-season ‘camp’ in Feb ....... emptying the footy store room in May prior to the pavilion upgrades ........ filling-in training attendance records (COVID protocol) in June. I also want to acknowledge Leigh, Greg’s partner, for allowing us all to have so much of Greg!!! The Committee will present a gift to Leigh & Greg in coming months that they can both enjoy when COVID restrictions ease. Congrats again Greg - the Club’s ‘Superman’.

22.01.2022 I wanna take this opportunity on behalf of the OAFC Committee, players, coaches, volunteers, members and supporters to thank, and to acknowledge the enormous gesture of support afforded to our footy club from the ORMOND JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB ORMOND CRICKET CLUB... In mid-March when the season was first suspended, I put out a call for assistance to Gavan Dwyer and Pat Camm, the respective club presidents. Our club did not have sufficient funds in the bank to meet our first payment to coaches, footy staff and trainers, and with the most important revenue generating period taken from us - the 3 weeks leading to Round 1 - the situation was drastic. Gav & Pat without hesitation agreed to loans of $10K each on behalf of their clubs (pending committee approvals). It has got to be one of the most unique examples of community sporting club collegiality and support!! Since April, the OAFC Committee has implemented a number of revenue-generating strategies and has received incredible support from a wide cross-section of the club stakeholders and supporters, and has already made two loan repayments, in accordance with our loan agreements. The Club successfully applied for a grant of $9,000 from the Glen Eira Council, which will also assist with the final $5K payments to each club. We sincerely thank and appreciate the support from the Council. In the wash-up of Season 2020, I am pleased (thrilled) to report that the Club will achieve a positive trading position in 2020, an outcome not possible without the generous support from many Club supporters, the players, members, and sponsors, and of course the Glen Eira City Council. Thanks again Gav and the OJFC, and Pat and the OCC ..... the bond, collaboration, and cooperation between the three clubs is noteworthy and praiseworthy, we would be the envy of so many reserve co-tenants throughout Melbourne, I have no doubt!! Richard Simon President, OAFC

21.01.2022 And what a thrill to announce that MAX BAILEY will be the Club’s U19s Coach in 2021. Max has significant background and experience teaching and developing young adults to become the best they can as footballers and people. He has been a Development Coach at the Richmond Football Club (2014, 2015) and the Hawthorn Football Club (2017 2020), and during this period had an influence on 20 AFL debutants from these two Club Academies. His most recent coaching experience has been... as Head Coach of the VFL’s Box Hill Hawks (2019, 2020), and Assistant Coach prior to the main role (2017, 2018). Before Max got on the coaching bandwagon, he played 43 AFL games as a Ruckman with Hawthorn (2005 2013), including the 2013 AFL Premiership team. His AFL career was one of incredible courage and resilience having had to endure and recover from three knee ACL reconstructions. As a local resident, Max is looking forward to joining his local community football club, and to also be back working with an age group that is his true passion. There is no doubt our Club’s U19 squad in 2021 will have the best coach in the Ammos, and having had two long conversations with Max in the past 48 hours, the boys and the Club have a ripping bloke also! Welcome to Ormond, Max, and also to your wife, Rachel, and daughter, Georgia. Richard Simon President #Monds2021 #OrmondCommunity

20.01.2022 Really sad to learn during the past couple of days of the passing of LARRY ADLER last Wednesday 13 January. I didn’t know Larry, but I have been made aware that he had a major influence on many of our current younger Senior players - Zach Hanson, JVO, Binga, Roachy, Jackson Hille, Uly, and others. Larry was Team Manager with Coach Greg Maclaren for many years with the Ormond Junior Football Club during the mid-2000s. Larry finally succumbed to a hideous strain of brain canc...er at age 63 years. On behalf of the Committee, the players (particularly those who played under his direction whilst juniors), volunteers, and supporters, my sincere condolences to Michelle, and children, Simon & Zoe. #RIPlarry Richard Simon President

19.01.2022 Great opportunity coming up to meet n greet the new managers of the On Top Bar in Ormond. (Sonder in Centre Rd Bentleigh has taken over the business).

19.01.2022 The wonderful sense of belonging and connectedness the Ormond Amateur Football Club provides our players, volunteers and supporters has an incredibly important role to play in our lives. That’s is why, during a period when circumstances won’t allow us to enjoy these associations in the usual way, we need to ensure we are looking out for each other......as well as ourselves. With R U OK day approaching, OAFC Player and Certified Mental Health Officer Luke Duthie outlines the ...steps you can take to have the conversation that could save a life. A big thanks to Luke and Tim Naylor who, along with the support of the players and OAFC Committee, have continued to create awareness of this important issue over the last 5 years. Luke has provided his contact details number in the video should you wish to reach out to him directly. 09.01.2022 OAFC 200 Club. Final Draw for 2020 Bonus Draw $600

09.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Don Chisholm OAM a member of a four-generation Ormond family. Don passed away today (20 September 2020), aged 92 years. He is survived by wife, Lynette, and sons John, Andrew, Rodney and Michael. Don was an Ormond Senior player in 1948 and for a couple of games in 1949, before giving the game away. He was the Club’s leading goal kicker in 1948, with 34 goals. Don continued the Chisholm family association with the O...rmond AFC, following his father, Lyston, who was the Vice President in the year of the Club’s formation (1931). The family association continued with son, Andrew, also becoming a Senior player (1975-1980), including Club Captain in 1979, and John being a Club President (2006-2010). David (Andrew’s son) and Rob (John’s son) completed the four generations of Chisholm’s with the Club, one of a handful of families covering four generations with the Ormond AFC. Don was a champion player and a significant administrator with our co-tenants, the Ormond Cricket Club, where he played 238 games, won multiple 1st XI bowling and batting averages, and was on committee for 25 years, including President for 16 years (1971-1986). A remarkable contributor to Ormond football and cricket. Don was awarded an Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday honours list in 2007. On behalf of all past and present players, members and supporters of the Ormond AFC, my sincere condolences to Lynette, John, Andrew, Rodney and Michael, and the wider Chisholm family. 07.01.2022 And the winner of the final draw for 2020 is ........... #20 Matt Oaten. Congratulations Matt Oaten I would like to thank you all for making this year’s 200 club a success for the club. Onwards and upwards to 2021 and a return to the draw being done each Thursday at the club.

07.01.2022 This is not a political statement, it contains facts. If you are a resident of the City of Glen Eira and live in the Rosstown Ward (the Ward in which EE Gunn Reserve is located), and are confused about who to vote for, consider these facts: - Current councillor, Margaret Esakoff, is a multiple term councillor and has not declined an invitation to attend a Presidents Lunch during my term - she has been a guest of the Club to five Lunches. ... - Current councillor, Tony Athanasopoulos, has just completed his first term as a councillor - he has attended two Presidents Lunches. - In the past couple of years, EE Gunn Reserve has had the floodlights upgraded to 150 lux (just didn’t get to turn them on this season!). - The pavilion has been upgraded in the past 6 months - it is now female friendly, and the change rooms have capacity to be divided into 4 seperate change rooms - important especially for the junior club. - The bike path currently running in front of the pavilion is now being diverted beside the pavilion following ongoing advocacy from the tenant clubs to council to re-align the path. - the Club was successful in securing a $9,000 COVID-19 Survival Grant from the City of Glen Eira. The incumbent councillors - Esakoff and Athanasopoulos- know the Ormond AFC, they have been to OAFC events, and they have a demonstrated record of supporting improvement projects for EE Gunn Reserve. If this has provided you with additional background for the council elections - great!! Richard Simon President

07.01.2022 I am pleased to announce that RUSSELL BARNES has been re-appointed as the Reserves coach for 2021, and will again assume the dual role of Reserves coach and the Club’s Director of Coaching. Ormond is indeed fortunate to have the experience, coaching skills, mentorship value, and passion of Barney back into the fold at Ormond for 2021. Richard Simon... President #GoMonds #MondsTogether
