24.01.2022 Marking the end of Lockdowns (fingers crossed). Had to wait for the tide to change to end up with 9 KGWhiting to 40+cm

24.01.2022 Who says you have to have a strong onshore blow - another 2kg pinkie last night that fell for a gourmet offering - chicken in tuna oil

21.01.2022 Great Port Phillip shore-based catch by our Angling Secretary- and then turned into a yummy meal - bon appetit!!!

21.01.2022 Some guys are just in the right place at the right time?? Yesterday evening a few of us tried to fish into a 30+ knot sw and got chewed up and spat out (only one kite surfer hooked). Someone goes out this evening with 25+ knot easterly at his back and lands a bream and pinkie...

19.01.2022 Hard to find, and then had to leave them biting -whiting to 37cm, a gar 34cm and a rock flathead around 46cm

18.01.2022 Glad to see VFA are out there catching crims

16.01.2022 Hot-smoked ocean trout with green salad - make use of all those trout in your freezer!! https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au//hot-/160769160010835 (This Annie Smithers article was first published in the print edition of The Saturday Paper on Dec 12, 2020 as "Smokin’ hot". - you may like to support them by subscribing)

14.01.2022 Another great trip to Bemm for G&J ( so nice to get away). Best fish was 40cm with average 34-35cm. Had to fish the river off the bank first day because of strong winds but was able to fish the lake for the next 2 days. Fishing was brilliant every day, everywhere. !!

12.01.2022 A few recent snapper biggest just under 9 kg all from western port - James has found 8 metres in evening and 13 in morning seeming to work well all out the front of Hastings, fresh yakkas and fresh squid doing the damage. All fish have been hour before tide or just near slack still with a little movement.

12.01.2022 The lockdown has relaxed enough for two members to get out fishing today - all legit they said - and kept enough for their smoker, yum, yum, yum. Lucky them!!

11.01.2022 Need recommendations for a SURF CASTER ROD HOLDER, specifically for use on GRAVEL BEACH. I'm struggling to get these (as per pics) pushed into the gravel beach at Coronet Bay (where we now live & where you go to get your Bass Yabbies from). I also have PVC pipe style ones, which kinda work (can usually get them dug in) & I use them for the shorter rods (under 12') BUT I don't trust them with my big ol' broomsticks (15'+ surf rods). I'm finding the current (10mm rod style) a...re ok once I've finally dug them in (usually way above high-tide line, or after digging a hole first!).... BUT, once a 100cm or so RAY decides to do a runner for Rhyll/Cowes it pretty much bends & doubles over (luckily it so far 100% holds the rod!), so i need something a bit stronger, plus that goes into the gravel beach... I've used "V" style holders, but find they TWIST (then fold) with bigger fush. Is there something like a STAR-PICKET version thats not as heavy as a star picket? What is the best for getting into the gravel base? Cheers Callum.

11.01.2022 "A River Somewhere" - browns to 45cm (apols for the poor pic - rushing to put her back in the pool...)

04.01.2022 For the Fourth OAC Fishing Challenge, we nominate Alex and Sergei: Each day post a favourite Fishing Memory (in no particular order). One post per day, for 7 consecutive days; no need to explain or review, just post the memory, pic, or whatever. Every few days you are to nominate someone else to do the same.
