23.01.2022 Plant of the Week Aracauria bidwilli or Bunya Pine Is a large tree which can grow to 50m in height (so not for a small backyard). They are beautiful tree which produces huge cones which can weigh up to 10kg. So you need to be careful where you plant this tree as they can be deadly if the cones drop on your head. The cones are edible (not that I have tried them) and are an important indigenous food source for the region they grow. They also have sharp pointed leaves which can ...cut you and be painful to handle. I feel like I am not selling this tree...... So in summary this is amazing tree but plant with care. #Aracauriabidwilli #Aracauria #BunyaPine #Bunya #pine #pinetree #evergreen #largetree #bushfood #indigenousfood #bushtucker #pinetrees #plantoftheweek #plantselfie #pinesofinstagram #australiannative #nativeplants #nativetrees #australiannativetrees #evergreentree See more

11.01.2022 We need more streets that look like this. Large trees dominating the environment, providing shade, habitat and fight against the urban heat island affect which makes our cities hot and uncomfortable. We always advocate for trees, the right tree in the right place. #streettrees #streettree #reduceurbanheat #tree #trees #figtrees #largetree #urbantrees #urbantree #rightplantrightplace #evergreentrees #coolstreets

07.01.2022 Loose parts play is a fantastic way to bring additional play value to a your playground. This amazing structure was created by a group of kids who wanted to create their own hut. One of the questions I often get asked about lose parts play is. How do we store the loose parts to keep them contained? The answer can vary from school to school but with defined spaces easy use storage and effective guidance loose parts play doesn't have to take over the entire school grounds.... Contact us to chat about loose parts play in your playground and possible storage solutions. #loosepartsplay #natureplayqueensland #natureplayground #natureplaydesign #natureplay #storageideas #looseparts #loosepartsexplorartion #loosepartsplayground #loosepartslearning #loosepartsstorage

03.01.2022 Plant of the Week Brachychiton acerifolius or Illawarra Flame Tree is a medium size tree which grows between 10-35m. It is a deciduous tree known for its stunning display of red flowers in spring and summer. This tree makes an amazing feature in the garden or a stunning avenue or street tree. The seed pods have fine hairs which can cause irritation to skin and eyes. However if you can remove the hairs they seed pods make great boats. #Brachychitonacerifolius #Brachychiton #IllawarraFlametree #FlameTree #tree #plantoftheweek #plantselfie #deciduous #deciduoustrees #redflowers #floweringtree #flowertrees #deciduoustree #australiannativeplants #australianplants #australiantrees #nativeflowersofaustralia #nativeplants

02.01.2022 Plant of the Week Zamioculcas zamiifolia or Zanzibar Gem I love this plant, it is often used as an indoor plant and is one of the hardiest around. It can tolerate extremely low light. Tolerates not being watered for months and still looks good even if it doesn't seem to be growing much. I have known people to think they are fake. It also does well in the garden in a shaded position. So if you have not had much success with plants previously then this might be the one for you.... #plantoftheweek #plantselfie #Zamioculcaszamiifolia #Zamioculcas #ZanzibarGem #ZanzibarGem #green #evergreen #hardyplants #indoorplants #hardyplant #lowlightplants #lowlightplant #indoorplant #plantsofinstagram See more
01.01.2022 Plant of the Week Dietes grandiflora or Wild Iris I am not particularly keen on this plant. I just don't find them that appealing. But they do have their place. Wild Iris are tough. They are the perfect plant for that spot that nothing else seems to grow. Once they are established they are there to stay. They are great for erosion control, weed suppression and grow well under trees. Cope with full sun and shade. They also deal well with little water and times of drought as well as surviving in bogs. So try them in that tough spot you can't seem to grow anything else. #plantoftheweek #plants #plantselfie #plantsofinstagram #Dietes #dietesgrandiflora #wildiris #whiteflowers #whiteflower #iris #irises #irisofinstagram #toughplants #plantsfortoughplaces #plantsfortoughspots #flowers #plantsforfullsun #plantsforpartshade
