21.01.2022 I wanted to write a post that would highlight the difference between using force to relieve tension/pain and using Ortho-Bionomy to relieve tension/pain. In the... anatomical picture, the red colours the infraspinatus muscle. The role of this muscle is to stabilise the shoulder when we reach forward, and its action is to take the upper arm towards the back of the body, if we want to reach behind us. When the infraspinatus is injured, strained, or there is excess tension held there, it may cause pain down the front of the arm, or deep in the shoulder joint, into the upper back, or into the neck. Quite debilitating! You can feel for tenderness in this muscle by giving yourself a hug, and feeling for tenderness where your fingers contact the back of the shoulder, at approximately armpit level. There are many forceful methods to release tension that might include deep massage or rolling on, or pressing the shoulder onto, a tennis ball to break down the adhesions in the tissues, or even stretching. All can help. The more gentle, and effective, Ortho-Bionomy option to release tension in this muscle would be to position yourself like I have in the photo......find a shelf(or sit facing away from a table) abduct the upper arm to take it slightly behind you, and rest it on a shelf. Let it relax there. This lets the muscle naturally relax, the nervous system remember it's natural tone as self corrective capacity takes over, and tissue reorganising and structural realigning results. Rest there for 10 -20 seconds, and then recheck the point and your movement. Every treatment is unique, but in the clinic, an Ortho-Bionomy therapist might support you in this way as part of treatment involving your shoulder or upper back. See more

20.01.2022 I’m a bit excited, the ebook version of Exploring your intelligent body has been available for about a month but it didn’t seem quite real. This arrived today - now it feels real

16.01.2022 Tree Sisters is a great not for profit. Checkout their new video. https://youtu.be/i3zwT1Y5bmI

13.01.2022 Your body is amazing. Your body has the capacity to heal itself. Imagine if a company made a phone that could do that - how excited would people be? everyone wo...uld want to get one, yet the place we live that we have grown has that capability but no one talks about it much. We notice when it doesn't work - when we feel sick, or have pain but don't celebrate when it works. In the book 'Exploring your intelligent body" you will find many different techniques for exploring different asects of this ability to self-correct. There are tools for working with musculoskeletal pain such as lower back pain, neck & shoulders pain. Effective tools for shifting out of your stress response. Tools for releasing stress from the digestive system. Tools for working with resisted emotional patterns that unwind the pattens held in the body allows much larger musculoskeletal patterns to integrate. If you have the same emotional stuff come up on a regular basis then this is the step you are missing. There is also information from pain research and sleep research on how these impact on your body's ability to self-correct and much more. If you have a chronic illness or are interested in meditation, bodywork, yoga or working with your own emotional state then this book will be a useful addition to your current self-care toolkit. If you are interested in Ortho-Bionomy, mindfulness, meditation, yoga or the connection between the mind, physical body and the emotions then you will enjoy this exploration of how your innate intelligence works. 04.01.2022 Is there any place for seriousness in sacredness? I recently went to a ceremony by a famous Japanese drumming performer who took himself very seriously and this... stimulated the question above. Creating the feeling of something being sacred is useful as it gives you an exit from your ego and creates a unique state as far as your neurochemistry is concerned. You can play with this as an internal state Set the intention to create the experience of sacredness and see what it feels like. The combination of sacredness with seriousness is however an ego trap. You then require other people to acknowledge what you do/say/think is sacred and when they don’t you feel you have the right to be offended. The end result of this can be seen in the violence associated with religious fundamentalism. Seriousness creates significance which locks you into a particular perspective which is the opposite of what creating a sacred feeling offers you. One of the things I love about how Lisa Tyree works with resisted emotions/trauma is that it creates a blend of sacredness and joy which lifts you out of your seriousness very rapidly. You can find more details about how Lisa works in her chapter in Exploring your intelligent body. you can checkout Exploring your intelligent body here ->www.eyib.com.au
