25.01.2022 On behalf of Father Vasileios Verdos and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Parish of Hobart, we would like to thank the following for their help and support with Father Vasileios visa application & approval. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The Greek Community of Tasmania, it’s President and members. St George’s Greek Orthodox Church of Hobart, Father Panagiotis Nikolakos and the parishioners. The Greek Community of Launceston and Northern Tasmania. And of course other members of the Greater Hobart Community that also offered their assistance. BUT most of all, we would like to thank our Priest’s wife, Presvytera Polixeni in Greece, who is still waiting patiently for her visa to be approved and join Father Vasileios in Tasmania. Thank you. 06.01.2022 Nativity Fast Begins today 15/11/20 The Nativity Fast is one of four main fast periods throughout the ecclesiastical year. Beginning on November 15 and concluding on December 24, the Nativity Fast gives individuals the opportunity to prepare for the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior in the Flesh on December 25. By abstaining from certain food and drink, particularly from meat, fish, dairy products, olive oil, and wine, as well as focusing more deeply on prayer and almsgiving, we can find that the primary aim of fasting is to make us conscious of our dependence upon God.
