24.01.2022 Today's Geelong Addy Opinion Piece: Says it all really

22.01.2022 Another gem found amongst the archives. This one dates back to 1994 but still relevant today!

22.01.2022 Sorting & filing in Covid-Iso today I came across this article in the Geelong Addy from 26 July 2012 by Cr Eddy Kontelj - a long time supporter of this community owned asset. Check the headline - it still applies 8 years later!

13.01.2022 Through an amazing coincidence & an archived old letter, I've traced & contacted a descendant of the Muirhead family, original owners of Osborne Park. I discovered that the staircase in Osborne House was brought out from Scotland. Now if only we could locate the stolen cherub gas light that was fixed to a plaque at the top of the stairs - removed during the early 2000s. Can anyone assist with information on the original or where to find a replica?

03.01.2022 The Osborne House Sustainable Development Plan will be presented to Council on 8th September. It will determine the future of Osborne House, the Stables & former Russell polo ground. OPA reps have been engaged in the process, managed within Council's Community Life Directorate and we have greatly appreciated this collaboration. OPA presented council a Re-Scoping Plan known as Option 2 which advocates for the buildings to be restored according to the CMP, that the land titles... be consolidated to ensure against subdivision, and that the property be used for a variety of community creative arts/heritage purposes with income streams from various commercial operations and includes a governance and management structure plan which benefits the community and not solely private enterprises. We're a clever & creative city & this is a fabulous venue in which to show off. Your support is both sought & welcomed. Share to your social media. 02.01.2022 Another article found in the archives: In 1999 in a sale deal between Council & Desa Constructions, the Stables at Osborne Park were to be gutted and turned into studio apartments - sold with the adjoining former Russell polo ground for $1.4m. A special report commissioned by CoGG describes "any subdivision allowing separate ownership within the Stables or Osborne House itself as unacceptable" and that titles should be kept under single ownership. How fortunate for Geelong that sale contract ultimately did not proceed but the land titles issue has still to be resolved.

02.01.2022 She's been without a determined future for over 2 decades and vacant since lockout in April 2017 but she belongs to the Geelong community and our 12th council in 27 years will be tasked with making this place something special for all of us - the owners - in coming months.
