25.01.2022 I understand that Ill never understand. However, I stand. Listening and learning

25.01.2022 [EXERCISE] The clinic is open but a morning off for Baz yesterday meant a frisbee throw for Harvey the dog and a walk with Olivia Weve seen so many posts about using this time to learn new skills, like a language or knitting and honestly, just getting by at the moment is impressive. It is such an unprecedented time for all of us, especially for children who face an enormous disruption to their lives. Children are very perceptive and will model how to respond from their... carers. Parents need to be supported in managing their own stressors so they can be models for their children. Sometimes a walk in the park each day, helps to do just that. Take care of yourselves, check in on your loved ones & we are here if you need us. A post on correct desk set-up and ergonomics is coming soon In good health #osteoandco #chelseaheights #osteopath @who See more

25.01.2022 [CLINIC UPDATE] We completely appreciate and understand how difficult this time is for everyone At this stage, the clinic remains open and we are still treating patients. Your appointments remain as they are and we will let you know if anything changes... Our team is here to support you in whatever way we can #osteoandco #osteopath #chelseaheights

24.01.2022 [MOTHERS DAY] Were a bit slow off the mark with this one, but heres to (all the different) Mums We love you!

24.01.2022 Its not often you see Baz holding flowers (thats normally me!) but alas, stranger things are happening at the moment These were a gift for the clinic, from one of Bazs old patients who came to visit him from @westernregionhealth the other day In our jobs we get to spend time getting to know individuals and their families. Often we treat people on and off for different injuries over our careers, and with this we have the privilege of seeing a snapshot into peoples liv...es We feel very honoured and so grateful that we are trusted to provide healthcare to our patients and their families Stay safe during this time. 24.01.2022 [WHAT ELSE DOES AN OSTEO TREAT?] PART ONE Usually you come to us for your sore back or stiff neck, but did you know that your Osteopath can treat more than just that? We treat a wide range of conditions, including your ankle sprain, that plantar fascia pain in your foot, your ongoing achey knee and lots more ! Maybe next time you are in, mention that other niggle that is bothering you and see if we can help or book an appointment today to chat to one of our osteos osteoandco.com 97733987 #osteoandco #chelseaheights #osteopath #wetreatmorethanyouthink

22.01.2022 [STAGE 4 UPDATE- MONDAY 3/7 AM] We will know more later today, but healthcare is still essential. Travel further than 5km from your residence is still allowed for medical appointments. You will be able to use your SMS or email reminder for your appointment, as proof of where you are going, if it is required. Stay safe & we shall see you for your appointment

22.01.2022 [228 WELLS ROAD, CHELSEA HEIGHTS] is where you’ll find us our fully renovated, fresh, welcoming clinic with a brilliant team. So proud (and so thankful the Wells road/Thames Prom roadworks are finished ) #osteoandco

22.01.2022 [THANK YOU NADIA] After a wonderful few years we say goodbye to Nadia. After some time away this month she has decided to go part time with her Osteo career. Nadia is hoping to further herself in the field of health literacy/promotion and is lecturing this month at Victoria University We are sad to see Nadia go; we appreciate and admire her work ethic and wish her every success for the future. She also left us with the offer to locum if we need in the future, so we hope its not the last we see of her! #osteoandco

20.01.2022 [HELLO!] Just touching base to check in on everyone. Gosh its been a long few months, Melbourne. We will have an update on where allied health stands during stage 4 at the end of today. At the moment we are still open and treating, but only able to treat urgent or critical care patients. Theres a meeting between all of our associations and the Chief Allied Health Officer later today. So we will let everyone know what is happening, regarding their appointment next week, ...in the coming day or so. We hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine- how much better are the days when its sunny?! Missing all of our regular, wonderful patients - keep safe & well Courtney x See more

20.01.2022 Loves the sorbolene containers Do we have a future Osteo on our hands?! I’m hoping for a Vet... that would save us big hahaha

19.01.2022 [COVID-SAFE APP] Looking forward to having restrictions relaxed and being able to return to some sense of normality? Please consider downloading the covid-safe app. It allows for contact tracing to be conducted by the health department, as restrictions are relaxed and people begin to move around more It is one of THE BEST things you can do to ensure your health and wellbeing and that of those around you. It helps to find and contain outbreaks quickly, and i...s much quicker than manually tracking everyone youve been in contact with for more than 15 minutes (some of whom you may not know! And may have been standing beside in the supermarket checkout queue) Being able to contact you quickly if youve been exposed, means that you can then minimise your contact with others quicker. You dont even need to provide your real name to the app. You can delete the app at any time and any encrypted data will be destroyed at the end of the pandemic. Weve all got the app- in an effort to further protect our patients and families. Please consider doing your part too See more

19.01.2022 [COVID-19 UPDATE] Here we go again Melbourne... golly gosh this is a roller coaster we cant wait to get off Osteopathy is again considered an essential medical service in Stage 3 of the government restrictions. As per the last lockdown, we will REMAIN OPEN. Our strict hygiene measures are in place, and you will still be expected to wash your hands/sanitise upon entering and exiting the clinic. Of course if youre unwell, please reschedule your appointment. Thinking of so many of our patients, whose businesses will once again be impacted by the closures & all the parents with an extra week of school holidays . What a challenging year its been. Sending so many (virtual) hugs xxx Courtney #covid19

19.01.2022 [APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE] Baz has had a last minute spot pop up at 3pm TODAY for a return patient. 18.01.2022 [OUR TRAINEE RECEPTIONIST IS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING IN CONTACT] Unlike previous lockdowns, as of 11.59pm on Friday 12th February, all private allied health clinics (this includes Osteopathy, Physio, Podiatry etc) have been advised that we are unable to perform in person treatments under any circumstances. At this stage there are no exceptions to this. ... All appointments booked for this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will need to be delayed and we will be in touch over the next day or two to reschedule you. We are hoping that as of 9am on Thursday we will be able to reopen as normal, and all appointments from that point will continue as normal. If you are in urgent need of medical assistance, you are best to have a Telehealth appointment with your GP or attend your nearest hospital. We are always available via email, so please do not hesitate to get in contact if you have any queries. Take care & stay healthy. See you all in a few days! The team at Osteo & Co

17.01.2022 [RUN 4 BLUE] We are playing a small part in a wonderful fundraiser, to help raise money for the families of our fallen police officers. We are volunteering our treatment services to Jake, as he runs 159.485km for the month of May. This will include a final run of 27.417km on May 31. Such a huge distance for someone who is not a runner! Jacob is doing this to commemorate his colleagues who were killed in the Eastern Freeway tragedy a month ago. Four weeks of running..., one dedicated to each police officer that we lost. The kilometre numbers represent their registered numbers, assigned to them when they were sworn in as Police. Jake hopes to raise a minimum of $10,000 and we would love to help him get there! If you can spare a dollar or two, donations can be made via his Everyday Hero fundraising page. Click the link below to donate We will keep you updated on his progress! #run4blue #fundraiser https://give.everydayhero.com//goodzy-runs-no/wizard/share

Staying on top of the changes and adapting to follow best evidence based practice, is at the forefront of what we do. Following on from the updated health advice from the Victorian Government on the weekend, our Osteos will now be wearing masks. We will still be smiling underneath, just trying to do our bit, to help our community

16.01.2022 [DONATE BLOOD- Still open, still essential] Regardless of Coronavirus, every week Australia needs 29,000 blood donations. Donating takes around an hour, and every donation helps to save 3 lives. Its used to help people from all walks of life; cancer patients, newborn babies, women in childbirth, after serious car accidents, to name just a few. You may be able to donate blood, plasma or platelets. Each type of blood donation is used for different medical treatments, and yo...ur blood type determines the best donation for you to make. Baz donated plasma in this photo- this is what was needed most on this particular day, for his A positive blood type If youre 18-76 years old, healthy and weigh over 50kg you may be able to donate! 15.01.2022 [HELLO SPRING ] Gooooooodbye winter and hello Melbourne spring time With the welcoming of a new season, it also means we are (hopefully) closer to Stage 4 ending! I know its been such a long year, for many home schooling or those living alone. Weve loved having our family unit home more- Baz has even been home for dinner every night! And the walks weve been able to do as a family, with our dog. I really miss my grandparents and being able to see our friends. Ive missed the activity classes I take Olivia too, but enjoyed the downtime of being able to just be at home and have quiet weekends. What have you missed? What have you enjoyed? Looking forward to what Dan has to say this Sunday, on our plans for easing out of Stage 4. Almost there Melbourne #lockdown #COVID-19

13.01.2022 [BEES... and theft] These little guys were the basis for most of the plants we chose to put in the clinic garden. Honey bees are super-important pollinators for flowers, fruits and vegetables. Theyre important for our food supply and our environment Here at Osteo & Co we try to minimise our impact on the environment where possible, and are conscious of making decisions that have a positive effect on those around us Today I found all of our new lavender plants in the clinic garden had been stolen; dug up and taken Not what you need at any time, let alone during stage 4 lockdown The plants arent so much the issue, Im sad that they were planted for a purpose Kindness always goes such a long way.. and karma always ensures what goes around comes around

13.01.2022 [HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR CLINIC] Gosh, where have the last 12 months gone. A year ago today we opened up the new clinic location. We thought it would be nice to have add a dash of colour to the week- Anna went next level with the Hawaiian shirt thank you to each and every one of our patients, who have supported us on this journey. Not just for the last 12 months, but over the last 8+ years! #sograteful Thank you to local business @theprettyballoonco for the balloon garland @ Osteo & Co

12.01.2022 [FULL TIME] After years of trying to convince Baz to come across full time, its finally here! He was sad to be leaving his long term patients and colleagues in Melton, but is excited to be committing to full time work at Osteo & Co. As of this week Baz will be working Monday to Friday with late nights available. Appointments can be booked online at osteoandco.com or by calling 97733987 Baz has a 6pm or 6.30pm available tomorrow night (Friday) #Osteoandco #osteopath #chelseaheights

12.01.2022 [STAGE 4 UPDATE- SEPT 11TH] As the stage 4 lockdown has been extended in Metro Melbourne, we are still awaiting clarification from the DHHS regarding our treatment requirements. It appears at this stage, we are still very limited in the treatment we can provide, and we must continue to meet the urgent or critical care criteria. It has been advised that we will have an official update mid next week, however it is expected that this criteria will remain in place until at le...ast Monday 28th September We will be in touch with all of our patients who have appointments over the next 2 weeks. We hope that everyone is keeping well & staying safe, during this really difficult time x #covid19 #osteoandco See more

12.01.2022 [CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME] Carpal tunnel syndrome is group of symptoms related to nerve compression at the base of the wrist (the carpal tunnel.) Symptoms are usually pain and numbness in the palm side of the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger (as shown by the blue paint distribution in this photo clearly Im lucky I didnt go into any kind of art career ) Sometimes the pain can radiate up into your forearm Most of the cases of carpal tunnel that we se...e, are caused by repetitive strain or overuse of the hand/wrist, they are commonly work related Conservative treatment (such as osteo treatment, rehabilitation and education) is recommended as the first port of call, and it is important that intervention occurs early. Do you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, or know someone who does? 11.01.2022 [END OF RESTRICTIONS FOR ALLIED HEALTH] We are pleased to confirm that there are no longer any restrictions on allied health services, and who can come for treatment. We are able to recommence usual routine and preventative care for our patients. All patients will still be required to fill out a COVID pre-screening questionnaire... (which will be attached to your reminder SMS) before each appointment. We are one step closer to returning to 'COVID-normal' and whilst it feels wonderful for us, we are aware that there are lots of industries still impacted. We hope that over the next few weeks, that will continue to ease for all. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email the clinic #covid19 #alliedhealth

11.01.2022 [MELBOURNE CUP WEEKEND] we’re open today Monday 2nd Nov from 9am-7pm, with Baz and Anna both working. Tomorrow we will be closed for the public holiday. 10.01.2022 [FOODBANK DONATIONS] Early yesterday we dropped off everyones food donations at Foodbank Victoria It was an amazingly well oiled machine- with our donations filling the crate behind us! We were told that the donations would be sorted and packed into care packages and were being airlifted to Bairnsdale for immediate use All of the people you can see in the orange vests, are volunteers. Theyve given up their Sunday, and time with their own families, to sort and pack.... I really want to take a moment to thank everyone who donated- we had so many generous people- including children who used their pocket money to buy for those in need. Its times like this that you realise how kind and selfless people can be Thank you from the bottom of my heart -Courtney x See more

09.01.2022 [DECEMBER APPOINTMENTS] gosh is it that time of year again?! This year we have made the decision to close between Christmas and New Year (which we never normally do!) We have made this decision to give the Osteo’s some time to rest, recharge and catch up with very missed family members, after what has been a pretty hectic and yet isolating year. What this does mean though, is that there are VERY limited appointments left for 2020.... If you need to use your EPC/Medicare visits before the end of 2020, this will need to be done before December 24th with us. Please also keep in mind that if you need to reschedule, give us 24 hours notice so that we can work through our wait list to offer your spot to someone else who would love it. Appointments can be booked online anytime via the website osteoandco.com or by calling the clinic on 97733987 during business hours

09.01.2022 [STEP 2, STAGE 4] As we are heading towards the next step of Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, aimed to be coming into place on September 28th, allied health have received confirmation that our restrictions are easing slightly. We will be in touch with confirmation messages for those who have appointments booked. Please ensure that you fill out your COVID pre-screening questionnaire prior to attending your appointment. Thank you so much for your patience & loyalty during t...his time. We hope that youve been keeping healthy and well. Case numbers are on the down- lets do this Melbourne See more

09.01.2022 [WINTER WORKING BEE] All hands on deck for a garden tidy up and a few odd jobs Can you believe its almost been a year since we opened at the new location?! gosh its gone so quickly! Big thanks to our family for always helping us out @ Osteo & Co

09.01.2022 [BREAST CANCER] October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. This year over 250,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The good news is that when breast cancer is detected early, it can be treated more successfully, increasing the chances for survival. It is so important to check your breasts. Learn what is normal for you. Most breast changes are not likely to be breast cancer, however if you do find something that doesn’t feel right for you, you should always see your doctor without delay. @bcnapinklady #breastcancerawarenessmonth

07.01.2022 Baz was thrilled when our new @balsamhillau Christmas tree arrived for the clinic We have a real Christmas tree at home, and go as a family each year to choose them, so this is our first fake tree We usually set up the first weekend in December, but are a little earlier this year (I think like lots of people? Cause you know.... #2020) What do your families do? #christmastime #osteoandco

07.01.2022 [ADAPTING - COVID NORMAL] Remember how we said we are constantly adapting to keep up to date with the Health Department requirements? Well now health practitioners must wear eye protection if you came in yesterday, you would have spotted Baz and Anna looking like this. Anna is always making us laugh #osteoandco

06.01.2022 [HELLO!] Just touching base to check in on everyone. Gosh it’s been a long few months, Melbourne. We will have an update on where allied health stands during stage 4 at the end of today. At the moment we are still open and treating, but only able to treat ‘urgent or critical care’ patients. There’s a meeting between all of our associations and the Chief Allied Health Officer later today. 06.01.2022 [RETURN TO SCHOOL- BACKPACKS] With most Victorian kids returning to school this week or next, we need to talk about backpacks! I remember my backpack being so heavy when we were at school, especially on days I needed multiple text books. Sometimes I couldn’t lift the bag to put it on my shoulders, I’d have to put the bag onto a chair to loop my arms through and stand up in from there Now there’s often laptops in bags too! Important things to note:... - Ensure the back pack is not more than 10-15% of the child's weight - When a heavy bag is required make sure they use the waist straps as well -Backpacks should always be carried over both shoulders, so that stress isn't being placed on one side of the spine -The backpack should be close to the body with minimal space between the back and the pack itself -if possible, choose a backpack made for children. They are usually made of more lightweight material than adult backpacks All of these tips can help to ensure that a child's backpack does not contribute to, or cause them pain. If you have any questions or concerns about your child or if they’re experiencing pain, please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic on 97733987 or book an appointment today on osteoandco.com #osteoandco #osteopath #chelseaheights

06.01.2022 The day we have been waiting for, Victoria! Zero active COVID cases! #covid19

05.01.2022 I dont know about you.. but our 4 legged family members are thrilled about stage 4 lockdown. Our dog has been walked for our hour of exercise each day, and the cat is enjoying the extra time sitting on Bazs lap stealing his warmth (If you ask him he will point blank deny it) but our Burmese has really made him into a cat man The clinic is still open for urgent/critical care during Stage 4, and you can chat to one of our osteos by calling 97733987 to discuss #osteoandco

04.01.2022 [RED NOSE DAY] In Australia, nine children still die suddenly and unexpectedly every day. Thats more than 3,000 babies, toddlers and preschoolers every year We are still losing them to stillbirth, SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents. So while we have made incredible gains over the years, the fight must continue. Supporting Red Nose Day helps to save little lives @rednoseaustralia

04.01.2022 [BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH] Sneaking in just before the end of the month, I wanted to do a post on men’s breast cancer Many may not be aware that men can, in fact, get breast cancer too. It’s not just a female cancer Breast cancer in men is usually detected as a lump under the nipple, but can vary person to person. If diagnosed and treated, the outcome is good! But men can often delay investigating changes, which means that treatment is not started as quickly a...s it should be. This hinders recovery and treatment success Whilst not all changes in the breast are due to cancer, it’s SO important that any changes be examined by your doctor straight away So let’s spread the word- men need to check their breast tissue too! #breastcancerawareness #mensbreastcancer See more

04.01.2022 [STAGE 4 RESTRICTION UPDATE- Please swipe to read the changes] We will remain open, however there have been recent changes in government legislation that apply to allied health. We may only see urgent or critical care patients, for hands on treatment, during the 6 week Stage 4 lockdown This applies to every AHPRA registered health practitioner, including osteo, physio, podiatry etc. If you already have an appointment booked during this time, your osteopath will call you to ...assess if you meet this criteria. We will be working our way through the appointments in the week prior to when they are booked. Please be patient with us If you are not eligible, we will be able to move your appointment to after the lockdown ends. The aim of this is to stop people moving around, and to slow the spread of COVID-19. Whilst we realise this is frustrating, we are bound by law to comply, and we each have to do our part If you would like to book an appointment, you are still able to do so via the website or by calling. However if the consult is between now and September 13th, an osteopath will call you to discuss your condition and confirm if you are eligible prior to the consult. We will keep you updated if there are any further changes. Stay safe & keep well

04.01.2022 Look at this snazzy roof @prorestorations.luxurycoatings came to the rescue after we had a leak, that was discovered after the storm ruined the plaster inside in the hallway What a job it was- such an old roof, with very porous tiles. So excited to have it looking brand new again! swipe for a before photo when we purchased #osteandco #soshiny

03.01.2022 [FLU VAX] Last night we went to Chelsea Heights Medical Centre and got our flu vaccinations. Getting the flu vaccination is always important, but particularly this year with COVID-19. Getting the flu or coronavirus on their own would be bad, but getting them at the same time would be terrible Influenza is a very contagious infection of the airways. It is especially serious for babies, people over 65 years of age and pregnant women. By getting vaccinated against influ...enza, you can also help protect other people, especially people who are too sick or too young to be vaccinated. The more people who are vaccinated in our community, the less likely the flu will spread As osteopaths, part of the reason we get ours is to protect our vulnerable patients and their families Certain groups are eligible for a government funded (free) vaccination; such as children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant women & those with chronic health conditions such as asthma or diabetes to name a few If youre not eligible for a funded vaccine, its $15 at Chelsea Heights Medical Centre Theres a huge demand, and theyre running vaccination clinics (so that no one else is in the medical centre). You can put your name down on their website www.chelseaheightsmc.com.au and theyll call/email you when one becomes available Just to be sure- Ill also add here that you CANNOT get the flu from the flu vaccine. Its a myth

03.01.2022 As a health practice we always have strict policies in place to ensure the safety and health of our staff and patients. However we have put additional procedures in place to take added caution at this time We want to ensure that the clinic remains a safe place to attend. We will be asking that all patients wash their hands with the soap provided at the sink in reception, or use hand sanitiser, upon entering and exiting the clinic. We will be regularly disinfecting all hard... surfaces in the treatment rooms and reception, consistent changing of linen (youre welcome to bring your own towel if you wish) and screening all patients coming in to the clinic If you have been in contact with anyone who has been known to have Coronavirus or have travelled through a high risk area (mainland China, Iran, Republic of Korea and Italy), or you are displaying symptoms of being unwell please refrain from attending the clinic for 14 days. If you have overseas travel planned, please let us know so we can book your follow up appointment accordingly We take the health of our patients and our staff very seriously. We understand that this is an uncertain time, and we are trying to ensure that everyone is well informed (and avoiding adding to the hysteria) so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns Please remember to check in on those in our community who live alone, or dont have a lot of family support and be kind We will see you at your next appointment Courtney, Baz & the team

02.01.2022 [MISS MAGGIES HONEY] we are stocking Miss Maggies Honey at the clinic for $10 a jar This honey is pure honey- with nothing added from bee to hive to jar Miss Maggies are micro-producers of premium pure, small batch honey from hives located in Patterson Lakes, Victoria Honey bees are estimated to pollinate one third of the food crops we consume, and in an effort to nurture and protect these fascinating and complex insects, Darren (My Dad is the apiarist!) took to res...earching and learning as much as he could about them. I know Im biased but the honey really is delicious So much of the produce in supermarkets is imported from overseas- and we are always looking for ways to support other small, local businesses and to minimise our impact on the environment If you return the jar to the clinic after finishing, youre eligible to receive $2 off your next jar #supportlocal #supportsmall #purehoney @missmaggieshoney See more

01.01.2022 [BABY NEWS] We are excited to announce that Baz & I are expecting baby #2 in June this year. I’m currently working on a Thursday treating babies/children & doing the behind the scenes practice manager work for the clinic. I miss seeing all of my gorgeous adult patients and hearing all of your news- so hopefully I’ll run into a few of you over the coming months when you’re in seeing Baz/Anna/Lauren. Olivia is intrigued by the baby in Mumma’s tummy, although we think she’s in for a bit of a shock on what that reality actually means Courtney & Baz x #osteoandco
