13.01.2022 As we transition from First Step to Second on 28th of September it's time to update our community on the restrictions that the Allied Health sector - Osteopaths will be operating under. The previous key feature or term was Urgent , now with new guidelines its DETERIOTATION. As of September 28th as directed by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) patients are able to receive treatment: ... 1. To prevent a significant deterioration in functional independence which would result in an escalation of care needs: such as increased frequency in treatment, significant increase in pain, specialist input or substantial increase in recovery time as a result of delayed care. 2. For assessment and diagnostic purposes for those people whose care has been delayed during stage 4 restrictions, and where further delay is likely to result in deterioration (e.g. diagnostic imaging and assessment for prescription of assistive technology). 3. To provide essential pre-operative or post-operative surgery care. To help you determine your treatment eligibility, our Osteopaths will continue to contact and screen all patients prior to you attending your appointment via phone If you would like to make a booking and are unsure of your allowance please feel free to contact the clinic on 03 9499 3232 to discuss. The clinic will return to its normal operating hours to cater for these changes: Monday- Thursday: 7:30am-8:00pm Friday: 7:30am-7:00pm Saturday: 8:00am-4:00pm We are also excited to have all Osteopaths back on deck with: Dr. Saul Smith, Dr. Jack Moorhouse, Dr. Emma Humphrey, Dr. Andrew Harkin, Dr. Eliza Cremean, Dr. Mitchell McKenzie, Dr. Sierra Chandler and Dr. Matthew Reyment continuing their care with enthusiasm, diligence and pride. Our treating practitioners have been wearing eye protection from this morning [either goggles or face shields] along with their surgical masks and gloves in line with increased personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements outlined by the Department of Heath and Human Services. We are grateful for the ability to continue to care for our community ... Please do not attend the clinic if you are: -unwell in anyway -have tested positive for COVID-19 and have not completed an isolated period -have be instructed to isolate -are sharing a home with a positive or suspected COVID-19 case or a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case -refuse to wear a mask without a reasonable medical excuse Please follow guidelines from the Victorian Government & Department of Health & Human Services for Stage 4 lockdown information. 02.01.2022 Stage 4 Restrictions have been clarified and there have been major changes to how Allied Health services including Osteopaths can currently operate. The Government’s priority to limit movement and keep people at home means that Osteopathic services will be limited to patients that are deemed in urgent need for the period up until September 13th. The outline from Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) defines urgent whereby the absence of care causes a significant... change/deterioration in functional independence necessitating escalation of care. Our role as Osteopaths during this stage of the pandemic is to help reduce the burden on the health care system by keeping patients from needing to visit GP’s, emergency departments and specialist clinics. Whilst it’s against every instinct in us to be selective regarding who we provide care for, we acknowledge this opportunity in conjunction with all of our patients to play a part in keeping the community safe by reducing movement and face to face interactions. We are more than aware for many of you, this means missing out on your routine treatments that keep you healthy, moving well, pain free and reaching your goals. For those of you in this category, although not in a hands on capacity we remain available and accessible to you by way of Telehealth appointments and as always via phone or email. For now, if you currently have an appointment booked you will hear from your practitioner shortly to discuss whether your appointment is urgent and needs to take place. Should at any stage as a non-urgent patient your situation change, you sustain an injury or you require urgent care please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic - as always we’re still here for you to provide great care should you require it. If you are considering referring a friend/family or co-worker during the lockdown we are more than happy to see New Patients, they just need to meet the above urgent criteria and for now under Government directive live within 5km of the clinic. * Please note GP referrals are not required for any patient (New or existing) to receive Osteopathic care that is deemed urgent. 01.01.2022 Good morning all, In line with Victorian Government regulation & for everyone’s (staff & patients) safety face masks will need to be worn whilst in the clinic from today onwards If you do not have a mask on your face you will be asked to reschedule your appointment and leave the clinic. ... Children under 12 or those with special needs, mental health conditions or advised by a doctor due to a medical reason will not need to wear a mask. Please remember not to put a mask/ face covering on children under 2 years old.
