24.01.2022 Dive into the Science Behind Osteogenic Loading. Think about what you did this morning. Maybe you walked your dog around the block or brewed a hot cup of coffee. Or maybe you got straight to work in your makeshift home office, dreaming of your next Spectrum session! No matter what youre doing, the cells inside your bones are hard at work. In healthy bone, osteoclasts and osteoblasts act in balance, maintaining homeostasis between their efforts to break down and build. But w...hen osteoclasts remove bone tissue faster than the osteoblasts can form more, the result is a net loss of density. But what if there were a way to trigger osteogenesis and, as a result, slow the loss of bone density? Thats where osteogenic loading comes in. More than a century ago, Wolffs Law taught us that when a sufficient amount of pressure is placed on bones, they will reform themselves and, over time, become stronger naturally. Taking Wolffs lead, modern minds investigated a critical follow-up question: what is the minimum threshold of pressure required to trigger osteogenesis? In 2012, a large-scale study determined that triggering bone growth required pressure 4.2 times the participants body weight, an amount far beyond whats possible through exercise or natural movement alone. OsteoStrongs Spectrum system allows anyone to experience the amount of pressure required to deliver real results, without risk of injury! You might not be able to practice osteogenic loading with us just yet (and unfortunately, you cant achieve the effects of osteogenic loading unless you impact the bones with multiples of your body weight). But what you can do is practice weight-bearing exercises. Today, work in an extra 30-minute speed walking session. As youre walking, take in the fresh air and give yourself a mental high-five for making the most of this moment! - The OsteoStrong Team

15.01.2022 Have you found yourself getting distracted, confused or even discouraged, by false claims about COVID-19? Youre not alone. Today, lets take a few minutes to remind ourselves why science is so critical. As an OsteoStrong member, youre already using science to guide your bone health decisions. Osteogenic loading has been proven to trigger osteogenesis in countless studies. And each of our modalities support osteogenesis.... Take red light therapy. After three decades of research and thousands of peer-reviewed trials, a significant body of evidence shows that red light therapy can boost bone health and so much more. Heres what the science tells us. How it works: A Class II medical device, MITOHQ delivers red and near-infrared wavelengths directly to the body using medical-grade LEDs. These wavelengths trigger a chemical reaction in the cells mitochondria that, in turn, boosts ATP energy and enhances cell triggering. Offered as an additional modality, red light therapy helps our members enhance their physical performance, reduce inflammation, and decrease joint pain. Bone density benefits: Increases bone mineral density and bone structure, with preliminary research showing benefits for improving osteoporosis and triggering osteogenesis. Strengthens bones by increasing maximum bone tolerance and osteoblast activity. Accelerates bone healing in extraction sites and bone fracture defects. Increases natural collagen production, which is essential to healthy bones and skin. Health and wellness benefits: Increases immune cell populations in the body. Relieves inflammation by increasing blood flow to damaged tissues and boosting the bodys antioxidant defenses. Relieves pain intensity and regenerates cartilage, including in people with osteoarthritis. Used by professional athletes worldwide to enhance muscular performance, reduce post-exercise fatigue and muscle damage, and accelerate recovery. Increases functionality, flexibility and range of motion. Increases collagen production and enhances skin healing. Enhances sleep duration and quality, and boosts melatonin production.

10.01.2022 Starting today, do these three things to help promote better bone health. (If youre already doing them, keep up the great work! ) 1. Practice weight-bearing exercises. People who spend a lot of time sitting have a higher risk of osteoporosis than those with a more active lifestyle. Weight-bearing exercises that promote balance and good posture are beneficial for your bones; try walking, running, jumping, dancing or weightlifting. 2.Avoid excess alcohol consumption. Regula...rly consuming more than two alcoholic drinks a day increases your risk of osteoporosis. 3.Avoid tobacco use. The exact role tobacco plays in osteoporosis isnt clear, but tobacco use has been shown to contribute to weak bones. And once when weve flattened this curve together, you can come into your local OsteoStrong centre and do something scientifically proven to reverse osteoporosis in people of all ages: osteogenic loading! #osteostrong #osteostronghawthorn #osteogenicloading #strength #weightbearing #bones #balance #health #goodchoices #lifestyle #osteoporosisprevention

09.01.2022 SELF BELIEF... Have any of you been surprised at how youve handled situations recently?? Could be positive or negative or neutral... Self reflection of experiences and situations can be useful to remind yourself that YOU ARE CAPABLE OF MORE THAN YOU KNOW and that everything you need is already within you.... 09.01.2022 STAYING STRONG TOGETHER!! We hope you and your family are well, staying positive, active and enjoying the extra time together. We have been closely tracking every new development related to COVID-19 and have been following the guidance of the government authorities.... We are very happy to report that the health minister has expressly requested allied health businesses to continue serving the community. As such OsteoStrong Crows Nest is currently operating. We have taken additional measures on top of those already in place to ensure everyones safety. The number of regular sessions in our centre has been greatly reduced, limiting the number of guests in our centre to 2-3 at any given time. This makes it very easy for us to maintain the required 1.5m distance. We have been diligently implementing strict sanitising practises: staff hand-washing before and after each session; sanitising the equipment after each use; cleaning high touch areas with 70% alcohol between members; asking every member to wash hands before and after sessions. With many of our members being high risk, we specifically ask that anyone with any respiratory symptoms (even mild) please stay home. Likewise if you have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms or has recently returned from overseas. By working together, we can all keep each other safe, and return to normal as soon as possible. Remember if you are in isolation and need some support feel free to reach out. We deeply appreciate every single one of you. All the calls and messages of support for our local business and team have been overwhelming. It has warmed our hearts to hear how much you all look forward to seeing us at your sessions and how our service benefits you every single day. We are committed to continuing to serve you at our highest capacity during and after this crisis is over. We look forward to seeing you all soon. Stay Strong! Team Crows Nest.
