22.01.2022 Congratulations to Claire, Rory and Shaylei (absent) for winning the colouring in competition for the Christmas concert CD front cover. These CDs will be going home in Week 8, Thursday to every family at the school with each class singing a Christmas song.

22.01.2022 Dear Parents and Caregivers Please read the following for some changes to school operations for the next 6 days. Today the Premier announced a 6 day statewide lockdown starting at midnight tonight (Wednesday 18 November) through to midnight Tuesday 24 November. ... Only the children of essential workers and vulnerable children will be able to attend school or preschool / child care. A skeleton staff will provide supervision but not a learning program for the remainder of this week. If your child needs to attend, we will be here for them. All students have been asked to take home school laptops/devices, books and anything they need to continue their learning from home. More information on learning programs will be provided early next week, as we work our way through the new COVID-19 Directions. All South Australians are making sacrifices to ensure our community remains as safe as possible. We appreciate that this is a significant undertaking for you and your family. Your child’s teacher, our support staff and I are here to support you where we can. Kind regards Mandy Hackett Principal O’Sullivan Beach Primary School

19.01.2022 The students spoke and we listened! Students in Year 2 to Year 7 have voiced their disappointment at not being able to attend camp this year due to COVID 19 restrictions. With some fancy footwork we have managed to secure a day camp instead! Notes are coming home tonight but places are limited. Please check your childs bag.

18.01.2022 Today we had a visit from this little miss called Dusty. Thank you to Ms Lawry for sharing her with us, she certainly made our day and lifted our spirits.

18.01.2022 Dear Families Today we will be sending home learning packs with all of our students. These are for students to use should you decide to keep your child home. This does not mean that we are closing, simply that we are being prepared just in case. Inside the packs you will find approximately two weeks worth of work, pencils/crayons and books. For those parents who already have their child/ren at home these can be collected from the front office. At this stage you may be tem...pted to make a tight schedule for your children and want them to stick to it rigidly, even purchasing additional work for your child to do. Can I please ask that you tread gently with your child? Even if you think they are not aware of what is going on around them, I can assure you that they probably are. Not only do they overhear things, but they can feel the tension and anxiety that is building and may be feeling out of sorts. This is perfectly normal. What children need right now is to feel comforted and loved, not a rigid schedule. My suggestion is to make a simple timetable WITH your child, one that you are both comfortable with. Dont worry that they will go backwards, every child is in the same boat. When we are back to normal classes we will work with them to bring them back to where they should be. In the meantime have fun with your child, play games, plant seeds and create art masterpieces together. We will be here should you need anything. Mandy

11.01.2022 Time Capsule help. We need to have our time capsule from our 50th celebration year Argon charged. This is the recommendation from the supplier. "ARGON CHARGING Once you have filled your capsule, you might choose to have it argon-charged. The process of argon charging the packed capsule, removes the air and leaves a completely inert atmosphere in which mould cannot survive and oxidation within the capsule is not possible. If you are storing your capsule for more than 15 years ...we recommend Argon charging. The process can be completed by maintenance workers, engineering workshops or refrigeration specialists. " Does anyone have any contacts that can help us with this? We appreciate any help.

10.01.2022 Dear Parents/Caregivers I am sure you will by now know that South Australia is going into a hard lock down starting at midnight tonight. Students will be sent home with books tonight in case this goes on longer than 6 days. The information that I have been given so far is that: The school will be closed this Thursday & Friday OSHC will be closed after tonight The School will be closed for student free days next Monday & Tuesday. (This will give us time to prepare for re...mote learning should we require it). More directions will be given to us early next week At this stage I strongly urge those not on seesaw to join tonight as the majority of our communication comes through this avenue. All students have been sent home a seesaw log on. If you already have seesaw please disregard this log on. 06.01.2022 A letter to our families: Helping your own children to learn is hard!!! I want to remind you that this is not the first time that you have done this. Children do not come to us as empty vessels, they come to us filled with knowledge from you. You are the ones that have taught them how to walk, talk, know things like their colours and numbers and instill in them values that will last a lifetime. 1. Teaching your own children is difficult. Ask any teacher and they will tell you...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Just wanted to give a shout out to our staff. They are doing an amazing job of putting a smile on their faces (despite how hard this must be for them), and providing a quality education for our students. I have just walked through the classrooms and have seen some of the excellent work that is happening from STEM bridge designs to learning about life cycles. It is so beautiful to see despite the chaos of the outside world. Thank you Mandy
