25.01.2022 FREEDOM OF CHOICE FOR SUPERANNUATION Workers across Australia will now be able to nominate a super fund of their choice - no longer will it be allowed for an EBA to dictate where workers' retirement savings are directed. It's your money - you should have a choice where it goes. And now you will.

19.01.2022 Neil Thomson - Liberal for Mining and Pastoral Region took me to meet Andre at the proposed site of the Kimberley Marine Supply Base in Broome, Western Australia. This project has huge potential and will create jobs during both construction and operation - good for Broome and good for the Kimberley! #MattyOhitstheroad
19.01.2022 There has never been a more important time for our nation to have a consistent foreign policy. Today's announcement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison will ensure Australia speaks with one voice, and will put an end to deals by lower levels of Government which compromise our values and national security. Read the full announcement here: https://www.pm.gov.au//ensuring-consistent-australian-fore
19.01.2022 In this small aluminium cylinder, acoustic waves are suspending a droplet of gas so it can be studied in its natural state. It almost looks like an illusion. The machine next to this, which allows scientists to measure and monitor the gas, is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world. This is the type of research happening right here in Western Australia at the Future Energy Exports CRC. ... The Commonwealth have provided $40 million in funding for this centre it’s all about jobs, making sure Australia remains on the cutting edge of LNG and becomes a global leader in exporting clean hydrogen. Thank you to Professor Eric May for the tour!
19.01.2022 The Hammond Park Catholic Primary School expansion is now open! Great to represent the Education Minister Dan Tehan MP in opening the new classrooms and library. The Commonwealth's investment in these new facilities mean the school can serve a growing population, setting more local kids up well for the future. I look forward to heading back to the school soon to see how the students are enjoying these new spaces!
19.01.2022 It was an honour to welcome home HMAS Arunta to Fleet Base West this morning, following 164 days at sea. What made this deployment particularly remarkable, was that due to Covid, they were unable leave the ship for the entire 164 days. During her deployment, Arunta took part in a series of engagements in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, which included a number of training exercises with our international partners. ... The crew also undertook critical work as part of Operation Argos, by enforcing United Nations Security Council sanctions against North Korea. Thank you to the crew for their service to our nation, and their families for their support. Welcome home!
18.01.2022 Last stop in Wyndham is the Airbus Zephyr program. The Zephyr is a lightweight, self-propelled UAV that aims to have a flight time of up to one year; with potential uses including communications and surveillance in both a commercial and defence applications. This is world leading technology being tested and perfected right here in the Kimberley. How good!
18.01.2022 This is great news. Australia is coming back with a vengeance.
17.01.2022 Yesterday the first hearings of the Select Committee on the Aboriginal Flag were held - I was glad to join via video link. This issue is a complex one, but as a committee we will hear evidence from numerous sources and make recommendations to the government on how to proceed. I was pleased the hear the Morrison Government has been working on this issue for over 12 months.
17.01.2022 Patrick is an old friend of mine and it was good to catch up with him today in Fitzroy Crossing. He's been deeply involved with helping outlying communities across the Fitzroy Valley in their Covid response and it was fascinating to chat about that and hear how effective their efforts have been.
17.01.2022 During my meeting with Marra Worra Worra today I made a commitment to work with their leadership to see if some of their ideas in relation to the Federal Governments Community Development Program can be progressed in order to better enable them to unlock the regions economic potential.
16.01.2022 Changes to WA's border laws in relation to SA's recent cases of Coronavirus.
16.01.2022 Funcats Watersports are a great local business right on the Swan River. It was great to join Ryan Chorley - Liberal for South Perth and chat to them about how business is going and their plans for the future. Ryan is a great local candidate, make sure you head over and like his page to keep up to date with what's happening in the community.

14.01.2022 Scott Morrison (ScoMo) speaking #live:
14.01.2022 To unlock investment, the Morrison Government is building on the successful Instant Asset Write Off. Over 99% of businesses will be able to write off the full value of any eligible asset they purchase for their business. This will be available for small, medium and larger businesses with a turnover of up to $5 billion until June 2022.
14.01.2022 Finishing the day in Halls Creek. The Shire of Halls Creek gave me a great summary of federal investment in the region including on the Duncan Road where the Shire is supplying 50% of the heavy plant. We also discussed barriers to workforce participation including internet access and difficulties obtaining a driver's license in the Kimberley. I look forward to working towards a solution to these problems.
14.01.2022 This is great news for commuters from the south.
13.01.2022 A recent trend on Tik Tok has seen a violent suicide video hidden behind previews of standard videos. Parents need to be aware of what their kids are watching, but equally, social media companies have a responsibility to keep such horrendous content off their platforms.
13.01.2022 The facilities and amenities at the Derby school are in desperate need of upgrade and repair. Thanks to Principal Eliot Money and Shire President Geoff Haerewa for showing me around. I will work with the school community to help them pursue the appropriate investment from the State Government.
13.01.2022 Liam Staltari - Liberal for Kalamunda had his campaign launch today - it was great to attend and support such a vibrant and energetic candidate who will be a fantastic future Member of Parliament!
10.01.2022 It's been a big year, and special tribute must be paid to our medical professionals and emergency services personnel. Best wishes to everyone over the holiday break and a very Merry Christmas - especially for those essential services staff who will still be working.
09.01.2022 Mark Sheehan first started cabinet making as an apprentice at age 16. Through hard work and dedication to his craft, Mark has been able to turn his business - Premium Solid Surfaces - into a local success story, with operations supplying key stakeholders across the Perth metropolitan region. Thank you Ruben Zandman - Liberal for Southern River for introducing me to Mark today and joining us on a tour of his facilities.
09.01.2022 The Perth City Deal will see a new Australian Space Robotics, Automation, and AI Command Control Complex created right here in our CBD. This $18 million investment will complement the Mission Control Centre at the Australian Space Agency headquarters in South Australia and create jobs and encourage start-ups, while supporting the development and operation of robotic and remote asset management activities in space.
09.01.2022 Today is Australian National Flag Day, marking the 119th anniversary of the first time it was flown at the opening of the first Parliament
09.01.2022 Fuel security underpins our entire economy and is critical to our national security. The Morrison Governments fuel security plan will secure Australias long-term fuel supply, keep prices low for consumers and create over 1000 new jobs, many in regional areas. Our plan has three key elements: ... Investing $200 million in a competitive grants program to build an additional 780 million litres of onshore diesel storage; Creating a minimum stockholding obligation for key transport fuels; and Backing the refining sector by entering into a detailed market design process for a refinery production payment. This builds on the action we have already taken to boost our fuel security by taking advantage of dramatic falls in global oil prices to purchase Australias first Government-owned crude stocks for domestic security.
09.01.2022 Scott Morrison fixed it. Labor said they couldn't. It's now on Labor to commit to keeping the GST deal achieved by the Liberals. Silence from their leader so far. Good piece from my WA Senate colleague
08.01.2022 #Live With Wangki Radio in Fitzroy Crossing
07.01.2022 Three strikes in the last round for a come-from-behind victory at the staff Christmas party this year!
07.01.2022 #LIVE: New powers to protect Australias interests
06.01.2022 Thanks to Geoff, President of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley, for showing me around town this afternoon. The Port was a particular highlight, watching a barge being loaded to supply Mt Gibson Koolan Island. Derby Chamber of Commerce was my last stop, where we discussed local procurement and how government can better support regional small business.
06.01.2022 Over 6000km later and my last stop on this trip was Broome. I spent the day meeting stakeholders around town including business owners, an animal rescue organisation, local government and NGOs, and a mental health outreach service. I've seen and learnt so much over the last two weeks on the road - now the follow up work begins! #MattyOhitstheroad
06.01.2022 Scott Morrison (ScoMo) is #Live
06.01.2022 Bravo Senator Chandler for standing up for free speech and against the insidious cancel culture that is all too prevalent in our great country right now.
05.01.2022 We’re establishing a brand new Industry Training Hub in Armadale, which will help local kids get the skills they need for jobs right here in our own backyard. The new Careers Facilitator will work with local businesses to identify what skills they need into the future and ensure the right training is delivered to school leavers. It’s all about getting young Western Australians into sustainable, long-term work, into jobs that actually exist in our region. ... This is great news - read more here https://senatormattosullivan.com.au/mediaroom/media-release/
05.01.2022 "The Morrison government will launch an inquiry into foreign interference in Australian universities and how Beijing has recruited academics to a secretive program that paid lucrative salaries and allowed research to be patented in China." This government will always stand up for Australia's sovereignty and independence. Read more here: https://www.theaustralian.com.au//b6cbf3a159ab45eb2d65f3ba
03.01.2022 A real pleasure to provide the opening address at the Minderoo Foundation’s Cashless Debit Card Summit in Perth. Representatives from regional and remote communities all around WA have come together to share their lived stories and experiences from being part of the program. It’s heartening to hear the positive impact it is continuing to have, and listen to how we can keep improving it.
03.01.2022 Western Australians deserve better from The West Australian newspaper. The West must issue a correction. This is very poor journalism and is misleading to the reader. - copy post from Nick Goiran Just when you think incompetence in journalism couldnt get greater - enter the genius responsible for this headline. For those interested in the facts, the Royal Commission recommended that 5 groups be made mandatory reporters. The McGowan Govts Bill includes only one of those gr...oups (ministers of religion). I support their inclusion. A committee report tabled today outlines evidence that demonstrates that the McGowan Govts approach will be ineffective. Meanwhile I have argued that the other 4 groups should be included, especially child care workers and child protection workers. Since the Govt refused to make this a priority I gave notice of amendments to incorporate additional groups months ago. Now we are waiting for the Govt to prioritise the debate. See more
03.01.2022 Senator Anne Ruston and I have spent a week in Northern Australia, listening to locals about how government services, including the cashless debit card, are working on the ground. Feedback is good, and we have more to do supporting locals into work which is my focus. That’s why we’ve launched a $30 million Job Ready package that will roll out in CDC trial sites. This will make sure participants have all the tools they need to get into meaningful, long-term employment. ... Thank you to those who took the time to meet with us. It’s good to be out spending time in your communities, actually seeing what’s happening. We’ll be back.
03.01.2022 75 years ago today, Australians spilled into the streets to celebrate the end of the Second World War. Today on this special anniversary, we honour and pay trib...ute to the 1 million Australians who put on our uniform, went off to war and made the silent promise to give their lives for their country, if needs be. Their tomorrows for our today. #Watch my address to the National Commemorative Service from earlier today.
03.01.2022 If you haven't already, please like and share Liam Staltari - Liberal for Kalamunda's page and posts. I recently had the opportunity to spend the day with Liam campaigning in Kalamunda. He is most certainly one to watch and is worthy of any support that you can give him.
02.01.2022 Your family now has another reason to visit Rottnest Island! This morning I joined Minister Papalia to officially opening the new Rottnest Island Museum, the Wadjemup Museum. The Commonwealth, through Assistant Minister Senator Jonathon Duniam, invested $17.2 million in a range of projects to enhance the visitor experience at Rottnest as part of our recovery from the coronavirus challenge. ... It’s a magnificent museum, and a testament to the passion of the volunteers, designers, builders and everyone involved in the project - well done!
02.01.2022 Merry Christmas!
01.01.2022 Yesterday the Parliament passed the Governments extension of JobKeeper to March 2021, which is the largest economic lifeline in Australias history. JobKeeper is maintaining links between employers and workers, keeping people in jobs and supporting Australian incomes during this pandemic. These measures have saved around 700,000 jobs.... For the next stage of JobKeeper from September until March 2021 there will be a two-tiered payment: For the December quarter, payments will be $1,200 per fortnight per employee, or $750 for workers who were employed for less than 20 hours a week. For the March quarter, payments will be $1,000 per fortnight per employee, or $650 for workers who were employed for less than 20 hours a week.
01.01.2022 Great news for Perth!
01.01.2022 Australia has taken another step forward in its ambition to become a powerhouse in hydrogen production and exports, after the signing of a landmark agreement with Germany, initiating a joint feasibility study into the potential for closer collaboration and the future development of a hydrogen supply chain between our two countries. Last month I visited the site of Yara Pilbara's proposed ammonia facility which will allow hydrogen to be exported safely and cheaply. Australia...s future hydrogen industry has the potential to generate 7,600 new jobs by 2050, many in regional Australia, with exports estimated to be worth around $11 billion a year in additional GDP.
