25.01.2022 Dear OTFC Group Families Following the latest Press Release and restrictions being lifted from 11.59pm Saturday 21st November, the OTFC Group cannot wait to see you in clinic from Monday 23rd November for Assessments, 1:1 therapy and Groups. The Team are busily trying to contact you all via phone, sms or email to confirm your appointments, so please respond where possible. If you would prefer to not come in to clinic, please note we are still able to accommodate teletherapy... sessions. It is not compulsory to wear masks however SA Health is suggesting this is best practice so you may see our staff wearing them where it does not interfere with therapeutic outcomes. Usual COVID protocol with regular hand washing, hand sanitising, physical distancing and regular cleaning of equipment will continue to be a part of our daily practices to ensure we provide you with a clean and safe environment to access. On a personal note, I would like to thank all of you for continuing to support us throughout this time and opting to do Teletherapy where possible but we are so excited to be able to welcome you back in the clinic. Please do not hesitate to call the clinic on 8410 4522 or email [email protected] if you have any questions. Continue to look after yourself and each other and see you all soon. Love the OTFC Group Team

12.01.2022 Some neuroscience for your Friday! Proprioceptors relay any changes in tension or force within the musculoskeletal system through the Anterior and Posterior Spinocerebellar Pathways to the Cerebullum (the lower back region of the brain). Various different proprioceptors relay information regarding the positioning and movement of joints and muscles. At the OTFC group, we can engage your child in a range of sensory-based activities which can refine their ability to plan and process movement. Engagement in proprioceptive-based games and activities supports your childs gross and fine motor skill development and sensory and emotional regulation.

06.01.2022 Our monthly theme for August - THE PROPRIOCEPTIVE SENSE! Lets get moving!

06.01.2022 Lets learn more about bilateral coordination and how OT can support your childs engagement in a range of bilateral tasks!

05.01.2022 Proprioception is the sense that enables us to know where different parts of our body are, how they are moving, and how much strength our muscles need to use. Our muscles, joints, and skin all contain sensory receptors that contribute to proprioceptive input. This provides information that is used for motor movements and postural control. Walking up and down stairs, playing sport, and washing our hair are all examples of activities that rely heavily on proprioceptive input.
