24.01.2022 Today is International Day of Older Persons. One reason why the International Day of Older Persons came about was because older people are sometimes forgetten, or ignored. The have made valuable contributions to their families, communities, work and country. And let's not forget that we are all on the same train. Improvements we make now in areas of support, care and respect, ultimately benefits us all, even the very young. ... 'The world marks the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons as we reckon with the disproportionate and severe impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has wrought on older persons around the world not only on their health, but on their rights and well-being.' UN Secretary-General António Guterres #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons #rosehillward #MooneeValleyCityCouncil #councilelections2020

22.01.2022 Rose Hill Ward, the Forgotten Ward. So many residents are reporting that their concerns have gone unnoticed by previous councillors. Uneven footpaths, drainage issues not addressed when roads are resurfaced causing water to pool in the gutter always, and poor choice of street tree plantings lifting the footpath. All are a dangerous scenario for locals.

22.01.2022 NO TO THE PRIVATISATION OF COUNCIL IN-HOME AGED CARE. The very thought that we have sitting councillors ready to privatise council in-home aged care and support services sends shivers up my spine. Councils are more than just bricks and mortar. Council is about representing the community. It is about the provision of services.... I know and understand the value of and need for council in-home aged care and support services. Both my parents were recipients, my father, after his stroke, my mother, after her diagnosis with a rare and aggressive neurodegenerative disease. It is the most vulnerable, and often fragile members of our community which would be affected by these cuts. They are someone's parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. The very people who have worked paid taxes and helped forge our community, and our country. They have the softest voice and are dependant on the rest of us to do the right thing by them. Private in-home aged care services have a place, but council services with its local people and local knowledge are invaluable and allow our most vulnerable members of the community to continue being a part of the community and their families. I will fight against the privatisation of council in-home aged care and support services. Once our council services are privatised, they will be gone.

19.01.2022 Our parks are wonderful places at any time of the year. So why has the little seating provided been placed where there is no protection from the weather? I will advocate for more seating under shelter, as well as more tables for families and friends to meet and spend quality time and enjoy the outdoors.

18.01.2022 DISABILITY SERVICES AND SUPPORT. Inclusiveness in a community takes many forms. Inclusiveness is something that I have always been passionate about and have advocated for. ... Playgrounds, parks and walking paths, sport, footpaths, buildings and amenities must be designed for everyone in our community. Their design and layout needs to accommodate not only prams, but those in wheelchairs and with walkers. We cannot leave these people out of their right to actively participate in the community. I also don't believe that these services should be privatised or lost as a result of the NDIS. I STRONGLY believe that Council services and the NDIS, should work closely to ensure that they have programs running simultaneously, which compliment and support each other. We have a wealth of expertise and knowledge in our disability workforce. It would be too valuable to lose to the private sector and NDIS. https://www.acd.org.au//ACD-Local-Government-Action-Plan_a @acdvic #disabilityawareness #disabilityservices #disabilityadvocate

17.01.2022 Here is My Candidate Statement. We have an opportunity for change at these elections. Council is about providing services to the community and supporting business.... Council is there to implement the best environmental outcomes it can. Council is about loving where you live and making it the best it can be. I will always strive to do my best for the community.

01.01.2022 Conserving and protecting our oceans and beaches are important. These type of activities actively teach our children the importance of our waterways, and how our behaviours impact on our environment and lives. It shows them how it is all interconnected.
