25.01.2022 Corona virus. Ottaway Dental have suspended all non essential dental treatment for the safety of our staff and our patients. All patients booked in for checkup and cleans, til the end of May will be contacted to cancel their appointment. We remain open in a reduced capacity for emergencies and fillings. Stay safe, isolate.
24.01.2022 Not happy times on the planet at present. We are currently contacting patients to cancel appointments for non essential treatment, please be kind to the staff, and understand we are doing this for the safety of patients, staff and all our families. The practice will be splitting into two teams working on different days, thus if one team gets in contact with Corona virus the other team can still work. Hopefully we can continue to treat emergencies until the pandemic is over, in some countries all surgeries have been shut.
23.01.2022 Bbq cooking in the courtyard, pot plant shifted to get some light, funny uniforms can only mean one thing. We are now closed for annual break. Merry Xmas from Ottaway Dental, we return 6th January.
23.01.2022 Ottaway Dental wish to inform our patients that Dr Ruthy Hernandez has left our practice. We wish her well in her future at Riverside No Gap Dental.
23.01.2022 COVID-19 Update Due to the efforts to combat the COVID-19 crisis, dentistry in Australia has now been placed at Level 3 Restrictions. A decision between The Australian Health Practice Principle Committee (AHPCC) and the Australian Dental Board that has taken place as of today, Monday 30th March. Due to these restrictions coming into place to protect both staff and patients, we will only be providing emergency or urgent dental treatment that works in with the restrictions of n...o aerosols (no drill or air syringe). At this point in time, we are still open and our staff will be triaging patients very strictly and unfortunately what may seem be need emergency care such as a broken tooth, are not always deemed as needing emergency or urgent treatment. We are restricted to seeing patients with acute pain and dental infections which require emergency root canal treatment or extraction of the tooth. All other treatments will not be taking place at this time. We apologise to patients who were booked in for treatments, please assume your appointment with us has been cancelled. Our staff are busy trying to contact everyone with an appointment in the next two months to cancel appointments. Please be patient and understanding during this stressful time, we are doing everything we can to protect our staff and our patients well-being. This has been a very trying time for many, we will be standing down staff to have one dentist available each day with a single nurse while current restrictions apply. We urge everyone to take heed of the advice that the Government has suggested and will continue to update us on. We must work together to get through this distressing time, look out for each other, practice social distancing, good hand hygiene and if you dont need to leave home, please dont. We will come through this and look forward to seeing all our wonderful patients on the other side. Ottaway Dental Team
20.01.2022 Covid19 The dental profession is now at level three, thus cannot use the high speed drill and can only see severe acute pain. Thus the practice will be closed from Monday. Assume any appointment you have is cancelled, staff are contacting patients, to cancel or triage those we can still see. Staff will be manning the phones and Wayne and Simonn will be available for acute severe pain. Good luck, stay safe, stay at home.
20.01.2022 Made the Hockey Masters Facebook page. 2-0 win over ACT.

12.01.2022 As a consequence of the departure of Dr Ruthy Hernandez, Dr Wayne Ottaway is working ten hour days, in an attempt to attend to all patients. A new dentist will be joining the practice in February. Until that time we hope that our patients understand that appointments may not be as prompt or as convenient as usual. Wayne may also be looking a bit tired.
11.01.2022 With the expansion of our practice next year with another full time dentist, we need another dental assistant.
11.01.2022 Snow, we are open, we have power, we are warm.
10.01.2022 Reminder Dr Wayne in WA, playing hockey.
10.01.2022 All dental needs, all patients.
07.01.2022 Simonns birthday, also last day the whole team will be together. Will be separating into two teams working on different days and only seeing emergencies. Hopefully we can limp on for a long time, provided Covid19 cases in Tasmania remain low.
06.01.2022 Covid19. A reminder that we are closed for normal dentistry. We cannot use the high speed dental drill, the prophy tooth brush or the air syringe because it spreads the virus in an aerosol. We can see patients in extreme emergencies but basically do extractions to relieve pain. Dr Ottaway will still perform tongue tie release for babies by referral. Health care workers are high risk, particularly dentists and assistant due to our close proximity to our patients and they obvio...usly cannot wear a mask! Be kind to my staff when they are canceling appointments. Stay safe, stay at home. Brush your teeth. Wayne See more

02.01.2022 Easter bunny playing it safe.
02.01.2022 Our social distancing animals are wearing masks, to be safe.
02.01.2022 Covid19 update, Dentistry is at level one restrictions. So although all procedures are allowed, there are still conditions. We have to maintain social distancing in waiting room, ask extra screening questions, have longer appointment times, extra surface cleaning. Thus we are still not doing regular check ups and cleans, until we catch up on fillings and other treatments postponed during more severe restrictions. Hopefully July will be back to normal. The stuffed animals remind us of social distancing.
02.01.2022 Covid19. Dentistry is now at level 1 restrictions, which means we can do all dental procedures, but with screening of patients with flu like symptoms. However, we are proceeding gradually back to normal, still in our two teams, and prioritizing pain, fillings, root canals, dentures and other dental problems. Routine check and cleans, cosmetic and elective work still postponed until our backlog is cleared. Our supply of facemasks is still limited although improving. Wayne ...
