25.01.2022 Jock McHale coached Collingwood in 17 grand finals for 8 premierships. He was coach of the Collingwood team that won four consecutive premierships between 1927 and 1930. McHale suffered a severe bout of the flu and was unable to attend the 1930 Grand Final. Captain Syd Coventry provided on-field leadership and tactical advice while Treasurer Bob Rush delivered the half time address. Despite the fact that McHale was not at the game, the AFL has recognised that he was the premiership coach that year.

25.01.2022 Michael Tuck played in eleven Grand Finals and seven Premierships - both are records. He is also the oldest premiership player.

24.01.2022 The record for most Premierships is held jointly by Norm Smith and Ron Barassi - 10 each. Smith played in 4 premierships and coached 6 others. Barassi was the reverse; he played in 6 and coached 4. Smith was Barassi's coach in all of his playing premierships.... Quite a combination!

24.01.2022 Dan Minogue was Grand Final Captain with two clubs, Collingwood in 1915 and Richmond (Captain-Coach) in 1920/21. He led the Tigers to Premierships in both those years.

23.01.2022 Dick Reynolds was Captain Coach of Essendon in nine Grand Finals between 1941 and 1950. Premierships were won in 1942, 1946, 1949 and 1950. In 1948 they played Melbourne in the first drawn Grand Final. Melbourne won the replay. Reynolds also won three Brownlow medals.
