25.01.2022 The blueberries are looking good, though a bit late this year. We will be at Torquay Farmers Market on Saturday morning for the first time this season on the 4th Jan. We wont have a lot of berries, however should be in full swing by the 11th. The roadside stall is up and being constantly emptied by customers.

23.01.2022 Hows everybody enjoying the heat? A punnet of blueberries might just be the thing to keep you cool this weekend! Saturday morning our blueberries will be available at Torquay Farmers Market and Sunday at Aireys inlet market.... Punnets are also available at Colac IGA and at Ishshoes Footwear week long!

22.01.2022 The fruit are sizing up beautifully, and there is some red and even the odd blue one here and there. Steven tried a couple of the Blue ones, but they are well short of having flavour or sweetness yet. He agreed they are a bit sour still. Still a couple of weeks to go at least, so after Christmas and probably the new year is the first market we will be able to go to.

21.01.2022 After writing last week about the 95% chance of it being our last market for the year, within 5 minutes the heavens opened up with a huge downpour that ended picking for the day, and consequently left fruit on the plants. So Rocky and Steven in particular have been picking every skerrick of fruit possible, so that we will be coming to Torquay Farmers Market one last time for the season. We wont have a lot, but there will be a bit of just about everything. Picking gets incredibly slow when there is only a berry here and there through the thick foilage, but it is amazing how much you get at the end.

19.01.2022 It looks like tomorrow will be our last day at Torquay, we are struggling to find many blueberries at all amongst all the foilage. The season has come to a much quicker end than we were hoping for. There has been a bit more damage from light brown apple moth than in prior years, and as we dont spray we will have to find other methods to eradicate the problem next year. Sorry if anyone misses out. Im not saying for certain tomorrow is our last day there, but it is a 95% probability.

19.01.2022 Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

19.01.2022 This weekend our blueberries will be available on Saturday at the Torquay Farmers Market and Sunday at the Aireys inlet market. Though we no longer have our roadside stall set up, our blueberries can still be purchased locally at Ishshoes footwear as of Thursday the 23rd.

19.01.2022 Brand new business cards have been printed for the season ahead.

17.01.2022 This will be our last week at the Torquay Farmers Market for 2017. It has been a great season and as it has lasted so long this year, we were able to bring our Nashi Fruit along as well. This week we will have as many Nashi as Blueberries (by weight) with our biggest Nashi weighing up to 300gm each. Thanks to all our wonderful customers, and we look forward to seeing everyone for one last time tomorrow, and hope ...to see you all next year. As per usual the last market is a bit light on for Blueberries as the pickers have been struggling to find good fruit. Also as it is the last market for Blueberries, there will hopefully be enough bags of seconds to go around for everyone. All the best Rocky and Bill @Otway Life Blueberries

15.01.2022 Our stall at the Torquay Farmers Market yesturday.

15.01.2022 Saturday the 2nd of January is when we will first be able to have Blueberries at the Torquay Farmers Market, then on Sunday 3rd at the Aireys inlet market. The blueberries are a bit sweeter this year due to all the sun, but the 42 degree heat the other day took its toll.

13.01.2022 Spring is starting to show in the Blueberry Field.

13.01.2022 We are starting to get some blue Blueberries, going from tiny green fruit starting to ripen, to be large blue ones, and taste delicious. I think the first markets we will be at are on the Saturday 3rd Jan at Torquay Farmers Market and Aireys Inlet on Sunday 4th Jan.

12.01.2022 The blueberries are growing nicely, past the flowering stage in the picture above, but still tiny little green fruit. We wont have any for Torquay Farmers Market until after Christmas unfortunately. We do have to wait for them to ripen. The earliest Victorian fruit comes to the shops in December with all the current Australian fruit from NSW and Qld.

12.01.2022 The new blueberry section is coming along nicely. Over two hundred new blueberries have been planted, including Northland, Brigitta and Caroline varieties. These will start producing in roughly 3 years time.

11.01.2022 We will be at Torquay Farmers Market tomorrow morning, but unfortunately it will be our last market for the season. Everything ripened early, with that hot weather in November and December, but luckily for us has been fairly mild since. The fruit has been very sweet this season, because of all the early sunshine. Thanks to all our loyal customers, and we will be back next year.

10.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

08.01.2022 Well be at Torquay Farmers Market this Saturday and Aireys inlet market on Sunday. The Blueberries are ripening beautifully and taste delicious, see you all at the markets.

07.01.2022 We have no idea how much fruit to bring along to the markets on Saturday and Sunday, given the forecast of significant rain. Plus picking has been particularly difficult anyway, given 41 here yesterday and now non stop rain. We now have beautiful Brigittas getting to full ripeness and will have some fruit for the markets, but please come early if you are desperate as we will no doubt sell out, because of lack of opportunity to pick. Life of farming, there is always something going wrong.

07.01.2022 Our first Market will be on Sunday the 1st of January at Aireys Inlet Market and because of the season being really late will not have a lot of Blueberries. They are mostly Greenberries at present and at least 1-2 weeks behind the usual season.

06.01.2022 Our Blueberries are running very late this year. There is hardly any colour on any of them and we wont have any for sale until after the new year at the earliest. It is all weather dependant and this is one of those really late start years. We had plenty last year by around Christmas but not this year, the weather has just been too wet and cold for so long. Most years we have been giving plenty of irrigation by now but hardly any this year as the ground was saturated. It halt...ed some work on new netting as digging a trench to put the bed log and hold it in couldnt happen as the holes just filled with water. Once we get into January we will be in the full swing of things I hope, and as long as we dont get a week of sudden 45 temperatures we still should have a long season. All the best for Christmas and sorry but no Blueberries until after then. Bill Lambert Otway life Blueberries

01.01.2022 Blueberries really starting to ripen nicely, so we are going to be at the Torquay Farmers Market this Saturday 30th December. See you there.

01.01.2022 Windy day at the Torquay Farmers Market, hopefully tomorrow at Aireys inlet market will be better. Thank you The Patch on the Bellarine for the photo.

01.01.2022 We have now pretty much finished for the season, blueberries are few and far between on the plants. Thankyou to all our wonderful customers, its always a pleasure to meet them and know they are enjoying our product. I post some pictures of how the bushes change colour through autumn and winter, and see all our customers next year.
