23.01.2022 This badly blistered and crazy cracked door is being burned off as the last job before Xmas
23.01.2022 Prime . Fill. Sand. Gap and paint A little bit of time spent on preparation makes the world of difference. Just in case you where wondering why l used charcoal gap filler instead of the usual white.....timber does move with the seaons and when you have so many pieces in one section there will probably be movement.....and if it moves enough the grey filler will be barely noticeable as opposed to white which would stick out like the proverbial
22.01.2022 Progressing nicely. Walls sanded and ready for the corners and bottom edges to be scraped out to remove old paint not accessible with the sander.
22.01.2022 Stage 2 Dusted and then sealed with an acrylic timber primer
22.01.2022 Were kicking off after the Easter break with another external. Weather is awesome lets hope it stays that way.
22.01.2022 Here we go folks. One of our latest jobs is now nearly completed. Plenty of time went into the preparation and painting of the building to get it ready for signage. Check out the fine work from Chris Parsons at CPS Signs which definately makes the premises stand out .
19.01.2022 Job done. Now i guess Ill have to polish the ute
18.01.2022 Another external paint rejuvenation draws to and end
17.01.2022 We not only do painting. We also can carry out minor repairs such as replacing weather boards and timber, mounting fixtures, and in this case covering a section of damaged brick work with colorbond in order to stop the ingress of water
16.01.2022 Again weve changed another lot of room colours for something a little more contemporary. Sometimes the clients like to check up on our worksmanship....sometimes they send a proxy.
15.01.2022 Our latest small project was to prepare and coat these classic old chairs. Starting with a thorough washing down with sugar soap and cleaning back to get off any remaining stain. We then applied ( "covered up" if you like) successive coats of Feast Watson "aged teak" satin varnish
15.01.2022 The time has finally come when i can no longer ignore the fact the trailer was looking very tired. Fathers day gift to self, Wagner spray gun using Hammer tone paint finsh making the job quite easy.
15.01.2022 And that Ladies and Gentlemen is it for today. Merry Christmas to you all from myself, Archie and Jamie at Otway painting service.
14.01.2022 Stage 1 All broad areas mechanically stripped back to bare timber. Corners and bottom edges of boards scraped back to bare timber. All nails punched and new nails where required in order to pull the boards back nice and tight.
13.01.2022 Todays task is to get this section of cladding cleaned up and ready to accept some primer
13.01.2022 If youre wondering why there was never a photo upon completion of this door, l had a significant cycling accident in Melbourne which required surgery and rehab, just as I was thinking l could fire up the business again weve found at that l need to head back in at some stage for more surgery. So it could be a little while longer before Im fully back on deck, thanks for your patience to those whove waited thus far.
13.01.2022 Yesterday most of the priming on the first wall was completed and holes and cracks filled. Some 25 litres of sanding swarf was collected off this wall. Rain today sends me undercover sanding back the original pit sawn weatherboards .
12.01.2022 Its 2017. And were a bit like AC-DC, back with black. ( okay, we know its corny)
11.01.2022 One of the things on todays to do list was to match the hardwood architrave to the blackwood cabinet in the back ground. We used a "Quantum" water based product and selected "teak" as the colour....pretty much spot on. The wall colour is now "Hog Bristle half strength "
11.01.2022 Here at Otway Painting Service we say YES to equality.....and NO to mould. Todays project was to strip back wallpaper and prepare the surface for painting. Plenty of elbow grease and an exceptionally strong bleach solution should see those pesky spores on their way.
11.01.2022 Another manky old door about to be rejuvenated....plenty of burning off and prep left to do.
10.01.2022 Sick of the hole business ? Give us a call . . ( see what l did there ? ..... Im a dad, its my joke)

10.01.2022 After finishing burning off the door and quite a bit of sanding I've applied an oil based primer, which we'll leave sit for a while to harden up
09.01.2022 Getting some boards ready for priming
08.01.2022 A little project weve just finished in Melbourne. This deck is part of a warehouse renovation. Its been cleaned back and sealed with "Haymes uvex" primer then had three coats of "Haymes uvex finish"
06.01.2022 Start of a new job. Total paint removal from these old verticle boards. Ready for a coat of oil based primer to hold back the tanin stains.
05.01.2022 NO BULL! Never fear the local icon will return though. This job has entailed pressure cleaning to remove peeling paint and lichen. Sadly the near 80 year old mortar was made mainly from sand and lime and was very soft and deteriorated. That needed to be re pointed, and now the walls have been painted with 3 coats of acrylic.
05.01.2022 The next phase after sanding on this old Mill workers cottage, is to scrape off any remaining paint and deteriorated timber to provide a sound surface prior to priming.
04.01.2022 Is blue the new black? This older raw cedar door has had one coat of oil based primer and 4 coats of gloss acrylic trim in blue. Its important to note some times when choosing colours that the coverage may not be brilliant, however I think the result was worth the extra time
04.01.2022 Very fortunate with the weather today, we were able to finish preparing the wall panelling and get some acrylic primer on.
02.01.2022 This project has been a repaint of a bedroom. Weve sanded, prepared and repainted in a more subtle colour scheme.
