25.01.2022 So important to hear and share these stories. We work with many clients and their families who have a form of Dementia or other neurological condition. www.otwest.com.au
24.01.2022 A fantastic podcast - Youll hear how regular exercise and everyday physical activity helps brain function and how easy this can be - as simple as walking your dog or doing physical tasks around your home - and the sooner you start and maintain this exercise the better for your brain. OTWEST OTs work with people of all ages to help identify what you could be doing to improve your brain function and mood. See our website www.otwest.com.au for more information. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b065ssr8

11.01.2022 Here at OTWEST we love this movement of decorating orPimping Zimmer Frames to personalise them. Typically the grey Zimmer Frames can be hard to identify in crowded places like nursing homes, hospitals, day centres. This is especially for people with vision impairments and Dementia like syndromes. Our OTs are going to try this with some of their clients and we will post some photos.
10.01.2022 We love the role that music plays in our life! Music has a strong link to both memory and emotion. A 2009 study by cognitive neuroscientist Petr Janata used fMRI studies to show that songs with strong emotional connection were linked to the Medial Pre-frontal Cortex. Coincidently the Medical Prefrontal Cortex is one of the last areas of the brain to Atrophy in people with Alzheimers Disease. Here at O.TWEST we love to use music as a treatment modality with all our clients :)
09.01.2022 We love this story!!!
